Me and my SO really thought our baby was going to be a girl so we have focused on girl names a lot more and really REALLY fell in love with the name Elowyn Sage. Well we just had our gender reveal and found out we are actually having a boy. Of course still super excited but now we have to think about a boy name more. We had originally decided on Gideon Atlas but now my SO is having second thoughts. She said she isn’t sure she loves it anymore because it’s gaining in popularity very quickly, it doesn’t have any obvious nickname options, and she just doesn’t have that same “feeling” about it as she had with Elowyn. Any suggestions for names that would be similar to Elowyn and Gideon??? Or tell us why you love the name Gideon if you do!
I like the name [name_m]Gideon[/name_m]! I think it’s very handsome and it’s well-known without being too popular. It’s a bit of a stretch, but I always thought [name_u]Gio[/name_u] would be a cute nickname.

[name_f]Elowyn[/name_f] seems whimsical and Tolkien-esque to me (which I LOVE!). [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] feels strong and solid. So I tried to find names that I felt fit with both these criteria: a Celtic-feeling name that could be at home in [name_m]Lord[/name_m] of the Rings, but with strong, solid sounds (g, d, v, etc.).
I also wanted to make sure they didn’t sound TOO similar to [name_f]Elowyn[/name_f], since you might still want to use that in the future if you ever have a baby girl (though some do sound closer than others, but nothing unusable, IMO).

Another question: if we did go with [name_m]Gideon[/name_m], how do you feel about us still using [name_f]Elowyn[/name_f] in the future? [name_f]Do[/name_f] the names sound ok as a sibset or are the endings too similar sounding??
