Names that do NOT end in -a!

I’ve got;

Ultimately, I prefer the nice clean cut “ends in n” sound, but other than that…I’ve tried the search on NB, haven’t gotten many favorable results that aren’t horrid misspellings!

Thanks berries!

any there that you like?

Ok I’m assuming then you’re looking more for names that end in a consonant sound so…

n endings…

t endings…

s endings…

l endings…

There’s so many! It’s practically infinite, especially if you include e endings. Sorted by sound, trying not to repeat:
N Sound:
[name]Carmen[/name], [name]Auden[/name], [name]Quinn[/name] (all unisex)

[name]Long[/name] E sound:

S sound:

L sound:

T sound:

R sound:

O sound:

This certainly isn’t an exhaustive list- I could go on for days. I tried to include mostly classic names because that seems more your style, but you could go on forever with just the “non-a ending” criteria.

Wow, thanks guys! I guess I could have been more specific; non -a ending, three syllables!

My favorites;

[despite the 2 syllables]

[3 syllables]
[name]Amoret[/name] (except as a character she was kind of a wimp)
[name]Clementine[/name] (although a bit too sweet, for me)

Thank you, berries! I appreciate your help, sorry I seem to be picky. :frowning:

[name]Violet[/name] (PRN [name]VI[/name]-OH-LET)

[name]Hope[/name] this helps!

Pretty much any French name is going to work…since -a endings are not the feminine forms there.

Thanks for the tip, neuilly!

[name]How[/name] else would you say [name]Violet[/name]?

Any more suggestions?

To narrow it down, no -a OR ends in that -ie sound, like at the end of Cecily or Ottilie! Preferably 3 syllables.

(I’d love it if someone could point me to a way i can find these names on my own, the NB search turns up really weirdly spelled names that don’t really fit my style)

Edited for privacy.

I like [name]Magdalen[/name] too, except 1) I’m not a huge fan of M names 2) I’m not [name]Christian[/name]/Catholic, which I feel like I should be if I were to use a name so blatantly connected to [name]Jesus[/name].

If I may revive an old thread…

I came across [name]Esme[/name], which is a delightful loophole in my non-a ending search!

But seriously, any more non-a names out there, 2-3-4 syllables? (No Greek ones though, I’ve got [name]Persephone[/name] etc)

I’ve got:

[name]Catherine[/name] (Really not sure how this one went so long without a mention)

I forgot [name]Sojourner[/name], which I really like. :frowning:

You could try using the [name]Baby[/name] Name [name]Wizard[/name] name finder. [name]Just[/name] put “A” in the “can’t END with” section, and put that you want 3 syllables.
