Names that go with Ollie and Indy

We’re expecting our 3rd baby in [name_f]May[/name_f] and are drawing an absolute blank on names :grimacing:

We already have 2 boys: an [name_u]Ollie[/name_u] ([name_m]Oliver[/name_m]) and an [name_f]Indy[/name_f] ([name_u]Indiana[/name_u]). We don’t know whether we’re having a girl or a boy…

I like strong, unusual names; OH prefers traditional.

Top names so far are:
[name_m]Hamish[/name_m] (I love especially as “[name_m]Ham[/name_m]” has a lovely family tie; OH doesn’t but it’s the only one of “my names” he’ll consider. Neither of us can see a likeable abbreviation and I’m not sure if it goes with [name_u]Ollie[/name_u] and [name_f]Indy[/name_f])
[name_u]Charlie[/name_u] (OH’s choice; I absolutely hate [name_m]Charles[/name_m] and can’t say I love [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] but it’s ok.)
[name_m]Austin[/name_m] (but don’t really want another place name and don’t like how it abbreviates)
[name_m]Jenson[/name_m] (but won’t use as it’s too close to my name and would abbreviate the same).
[name_m]Atticus[/name_m] (I love; OH hates)
[name_m]William[/name_m] (OH loves but I hate [name_m]Will[/name_m] and [name_m]Liam[/name_m] and not a massive fan of [name_m]William[/name_m])
[name_f]Kiri[/name_f] (for a girl we love but it’s my sister’s name so could get complicated and offend the other 2 sisters)
[name_f]Aoife[/name_f] (Ee-fah) (but our surname starts with E so it would be “Ee for E…”)
[name_f]Etta[/name_f] (I love; OH doesn’t)
[name_f]Callie[/name_f] (but it’s a bit lacking)
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] (OH loves but I find a bit dull)

Any ideas or suggestions?

It took us 3 weeks to name our first and 6 to name our second so I’m hoping we might find a good shortlist at least before the 3rd comes :see_no_evil::joy:

We’re UK based so nothing to American…

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

[name_u]Ollie[/name_u] & [name_f]Indy[/name_f] are cute! I get a cheeky & charming vibe.

Here are my thoughts on your list:

Boys-

[name_m]Hamish[/name_m]-I think that this is a really nice name. It’s different (well, at least in the U.S. it is, sounds strong yet gentle. I agree that it does lack nn potential.

[name_u]Charlie[/name_u]-Aw, I love [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]. It’s perfect w/[name_u]Ollie[/name_u] & [name_f]Indy[/name_f]. I prefer just [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] myself, & I think it’s just fine on its own if you don’t care for [name_m]Charles[/name_m].

[name_m]Austin[/name_m]-Meh, I don’t think that another place name would be a big deal. [name_m]Austin[/name_m] is more of a name that happens to also be the name on a city more than it is a place name to me. It’s a very cool name. Kind of cowboy-ish, but also dashing. Maybe [name_m]Ace[/name_m] as a nn?

[name_m]Jenson[/name_m]-Meh, this one doesn’t do much for me. [name_m]Just[/name_m] seems sort of lack-luster.

[name_m]Atticus[/name_m]-This seems like a nice fit w/your crew. Too bad you can’t agree on it.

[name_m]William[/name_m]-It’s a nice solid name, but nothing too amazing. I don’t care for [name_m]Will[/name_m] either. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_u]Billy[/name_u]? I find [name_u]Billy[/name_u] adorable & perfect w/[name_u]Ollie[/name_u] & [name_f]Indy[/name_f].

Boy suggestions-

Girls-

[name_f]Kiri[/name_f]-It may get confusing, & a sticky situation when you don’t want to offend other siblings. Oh well.

[name_f]Aoife[/name_f]-Does your surname start w/a long ‘E’ sound? If so, it may sound a bit off. Otherwise, I think it’s okay. [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] is gorgeous. I also like the [name_f]Aoibhe[/name_f] spelling. It looks softer to me.

[name_f]Etta[/name_f]-Aw, it’s cute. Simple, vintage & different.

[name_f]Callie[/name_f] -I think that this fits well w/your crew, but better as a nn. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_f]Callista[/name_f], [name_f]Calliope[/name_f], [name_f]Calla[/name_f], Callalilie, [name_f]Callia[/name_f], [name_f]Camellia[/name_f], [name_f]Camilla[/name_f], maybe even [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] nn [name_f]Callie[/name_f]?

[name_f]Emma[/name_f]-Nice solid name, but it is a bit dull & over done.

[name_f]Adriana[/name_f]
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f]
[name_f]Charli[/name_f]/[name_u]Charly[/name_u]

[name_m]Hamish[/name_m] - I don’t mind the name, but I feel like there are better ones on your list! I can’t see a nickname option either.

[name_u]Charlie[/name_u] - I love [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]! Sweet and funky, especially next to the overdone [name_m]Charles[/name_m] (which I dislike as well!).

[name_m]Austin[/name_m] - [name_m]Austin[/name_m] is rugged and fun! If you’re worried about a nickname, you could always do an initial one through his middle name (e.g. AJ).

[name_m]Jenson[/name_m] - What a shame it abbreviates the same! [name_u]Jensen[/name_u] is so handsome. I’ll suggest using an initial nickname, if you decide you both love [name_u]Jensen[/name_u].

[name_m]Atticus[/name_m] - literary and interesting! Shame your husband isn’t a fan

[name_m]William[/name_m] - I dislike this one too, I just feel like it’s been done so many times! I don’t mind nn [name_m]Will[/name_m] though.

[name_f]Kiri[/name_f] - If it’s your sister’s name, I’d probably use it as a middle! Then it isn’t confusing. [name_f]Kiri[/name_f] is spunky and upbeat.

[name_f]Aoife[/name_f] (Ee-fah) - Gorgeous! Does your surname start with a long E sound? Then it might be a little off, otherwise, I think it’s lovely!

[name_f]Etta[/name_f] - vintage and sweet, but wouldn’t be my personal pick, especially next to [name_u]Indiana[/name_u].

[name_f]Callie[/name_f] - love [name_f]Callie[/name_f]! Strong and spunky. If it’s lacking, you could always use it as a nickname for [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]?

[name_f]Emma[/name_f] - nice enough, but I agree; a little plain for me personally!

[name_u]Ollie[/name_u] and [name_f]Indy[/name_f] are cute! I really like [name_f]Indy[/name_f] on a boy. It’s a shame your partner doesn’t like [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] as I think it’s perfect with your sons’ names although I think [name_m]Hamish[/name_m] works nicely, as does [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]. [name_m]William[/name_m] is nice too but I don’t find it particularly exciting. I don’t mind [name_u]Jensen[/name_u] but it feels very American, as does [name_m]Austin[/name_m] to me (which I mention because you’re wanting to stray away from names that are too American). [name_f]Etta[/name_f] would be sweet with [name_f]Indy[/name_f] and [name_u]Ollie[/name_u] - maybe you could sell your partner on [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] nn [name_f]Etta[/name_f]?
