The only one I can think of is [name]Beth[/name], though it doesn’t really make me angry. Irritable, yes, but not angry. I don’t even know why I dislike the name so much.
I have to agree with thetxbelle about [name]Marie[/name] [name]Antoinette[/name] and [name]Napoleon[/name]. Neither of them were too bad… I mean, [name]Elizabeth[/name] Bathory and [name]Maximilien[/name] Robespierre were way worse.
[name]Corey[/name] is my probably the name that makes me most angry, but that’s probably just a personal association thing. Also, names that are very clearly from one culture with a last name that’s very clearly from another culture. I’m a bit of a hypocrite there, we do have some that are clearly Irish or Czech and [name]Kevin[/name]'s last name is very, very Italian sounding, but it usually annoys me. Names that are clearly made up, like they just reached into a bag of Scrabble tiles. [name]Even[/name] though there’s no way to know this when you choose the name, it drives me crazy when someone’s name suits a a personality exactly opposite theirs.
Not sure about Angry- but [name]Jaxun[/name]. I mean seriously? Did people fail spelling at school?
There is no such person. This is an urban legend. [name]Laura[/name] Wattenberg ([name]Baby[/name] Name [name]Wizard[/name]) has a post about it: Pregnancy, Parenting, Lifestyle, Beauty: Tips & Advice | mom.com.
V names like [name]Vivienne[/name], [name]Vivi[/name]- I have no idea why, they just make me think of some pretentious little snot. Usually, when people post about these names, I just go away because I know my feedback will be horrible for some reason that I can’t even comprehend. They’re nice names anyway.
[name]Ivanna[/name]. I hate it, again for an unknown reason.
Oh, and [name]Leigh[/name]. I love [name]Lee[/name], love it, but I absolutely abhor [name]Leigh[/name]. I don’t know anybody with this name nor have I even heard of someone with this name, so I don’t know what my deal is.
And the last one I can think of right now is [name]Anne[/name]/[name]Ann[/name]. It’s just such a filler name to me, I don’t understand why someone would name their little girl [name]Anne[/name] when they could give them a much prettier, longer name- something with actual character.
I’m sorry to anyone with these names, honestly. It’s like taste buds, everybody likes different things, sometimes for reasons we don’t even know or have any control over.
The various spellings of [name]Caitlin[/name] that are now so much more poppular than the beautiful original ([name]Katelyn[/name], etc.)
[name]Nevaeh[/name]'s always bugged me to no end, as well. So do cutesy/rhymey names for twins. That’s about it.
Can I just agree on [name]Anne[/name]? It’s my middle name and I hate it! I’m always like, Wow, mum, thanks so much for putting so much thought into my name. I’d have felt better with no middle name than with that one.
The first that comes to mind is “[name]Sydney[/name]”. I can’t think of any other name, at the moment.
I actually know a girl named [name]Ladasha[/name] but you’re right, La-sha is an urban legend.
I could go on for a while on this topic, haha. However, the name I loathe most is [name]Paisley[/name]. Ugh. I can’t stand [name]Nevaeh[/name], but at least that has a pretty sound, and a meaning other than a freaking fabric pattern! I mean, come on, seriously?
Funny, I love V-names, but I don’t really like names beginning with B. [name]Beatrice[/name]/[name]Beatrix[/name], as an example- perfectly fine names, but not for me;) [name]Don[/name]'t even get me started on ert- sounds, if there exists something like that- like [name]Berta[/name], [name]Robert[/name], [name]Gertrude[/name] etc.
Misspellings are what get me irritated, and backwards names ([name]Nevaeh[/name]). I also have an irrational dislike of all the different forms of [name]Kayla[/name] & [name]Layla[/name]. I don’t mind either of those, but [name]Shayla[/name], [name]Tayla[/name], [name]Jayla[/name] all really annoy me.
My sister-in-law has a student named La-a. Not just an urban legend.
I find [name]Kayla[/name] positively intolerable. It’s the ultimate Waffle House name to me. Mckayla is equally distasteful. I also found myself bristling recently when a very well-heeled friend named her child [name]Braydyn[/name]. D:
I don’t like boys names on girls, I think most kids have enough issues growing up without adding gender confusion to the mix.
Pretty much all made up names and various silly spellings of established names too. Again you’re just asking for trouble, a whole life of spelling and correcting people and trying to explain that your parents were being ‘interesting’ rather than stupid lol
I do get a tad angry when I see some of the made-up stupidness I’ve seen floating around recently. [name]Briley[/name], [name]Brinley[/name], MaKaylyn - stuff like that. Your child will grow up and have to be an adult with that name, it’s selfish and cruel to make your child sound like a 5 year old for the rest of their life and when it comes to their future career, you are not helping them in the least.
Yes, it DOES make me a bit angry. I went to college for HR, I’m the one whose going to have to be dealing with this silliness when your children grow up and need a job.
Also, the boys names on girls thing angers me. Yes, actually angers me - mostly because it ONLY goes from masculine to feminine, it’s completely frowned upon for it to go from feminine to masculine. The double standards and the social implications are just…wrong.
There was one at my husband’s school before he became a teacher there. Several colleagues have confirmed it.
He also heard about a girl named Abcde – pronounced [name]AB[/name]-sid-ay. [name]Urban[/name] legend or not, that’s pretty terrible.
Those poor kids! [name]Just[/name] curious, but what country allows the - symbol for names?
I’m surprised no one has mentioned [name]Madison[/name] or [name]Addison[/name]. Those names drive me INSANE! (Except if [name]Addison[/name] is on a boy, because it’s a boys name…) Also, most -ley ([name]Bentley[/name], [name]Kinley[/name], [name]Brinley[/name], etc.) names sound pretentious and made-up to me.
