[name]Just[/name] wondering, what names do y’all hate so much you can’t stand? [name]Antoinette[/name] frustrates me. I think it sounds really pretentious and not pretty at all, and it seems like it’s honoring [name]Marie[/name] [name]Antoinette[/name]. I just don’t think it was meant to be a name, as awful as that sounds. I also really dislike [name]Edward[/name], [name]Jennifer[/name] (so blah), [name]Mike[/name], [name]Rita[/name], and almost any names that starts with [name]Cor[/name]-. I don’t really know why. So what about y’all?
Anything spelled backwards frustrates me. Evol and [name]Neveah[/name] are examples. [name]One[/name] name I can’t stand is [name]Silas[/name], it just sounds icky. I also dislike boys name on girls, like naming a girl [name]Jordan[/name] or [name]Emerson[/name]. The same for boys except I can’t think of anything at the moment since that is less common.
Product names. The newest baby in one of my classrooms is named after two perfumes. Gag. People who name their kids after products are dooming their children to a lifetime of tackiness.
Hahaha “evol”…now it’s considered a legitimate name?
Lol I sure hope not!
To my sad discovery: http://names.whitepages.com/first/Evol
Oh my gosh…
[name]Bay[/name], [name]Harbor[/name], [name]Pilot[/name]. Why not just name your kid Aviator or Airbus?
The only names that frustrate me are names that will affect the child. There’s a girl who lives near my cousin who’s named La-a. Yes, spelled like that, but pronounced La-dash-a. She’s going to be correcting people on the prounciation her entire life (or the spelling, if they’ve only heard it sounded out.) It’s not fair to her, and I feel really bad for the poor girl.
Or names like [name]Gertrude[/name] or [name]Mortimer[/name], that will get the kid teased for a good portion of their school years. Or names like [name]Pixie[/name] or [name]Pippi[/name] that won’t do a young professional any favours. Or unpronounceable names. Or names that are common but spelled really oddly. Really, just names that will give a kid a hard time in general make me sad.
Yeah, I know what you mean. PS MY NAME IS ON YOUR LIST
Seriously, I thought dashes and other markings along with numbers aren’t allowed in the naming process… well I guess it depends where you live too… why didn’t they just spell it [name]Ladasha[/name]? It’s awful, but at least better than a -
Any name with more than two Y’s – LOL
Haha like what?
There are SO many. So I’ll go with one I heard today: [name]Shad[/name]. Any names that sound like maybe mommy’s been watching a few too many soaps. Like I can’t say [name]Shad[/name] without wanting to give my best smoldery glare with it. Weird smooshes, ie: Skylan. For some reason they bug me even more when they’re inflicted on a boy.
[name]Kaylee[/name]. I just don’t understand how a parent expects a child to grow with this name.
[name]Marie[/name] [name]Antoinette[/name] wasn’t a bad person, I wouldn’t honor her but she is misunderstood along with [name]Napoleon[/name]. I think someone on here compared him to Hitler once which made me wonder what they were taught in history. He wasn’t a great guy but he wasnt an evil dictator. Anyways, I digress. For some irrational reason [name]Penelope[/name] angers me, I have an aversion to P names for some reason.
[name]Shad[/name]? Well that’s unfortunate. My name is on your list by the way
[name]Nevaeh[/name].
But I think that goes without saying, haha. Other than that, pretty much ANY unisex name on a girl, anything from [name]Bailey[/name] to [name]Logan[/name] to [name]Avery[/name] to [name]Rhys[/name] and [name]August[/name] and [name]Emerson[/name] anything in between. Like irrationally angry. It’s actually pretty funny when I stop to think what I’m actually doing.
Other than that, that make me angry? Not too many. I mean, I don’t think [name]Kaylee[/name] and [name]Braelyn[/name] and co. are good names, but I don’t think there’s really a point in getting angry because they’re all over. There’s some I just don’t like very much, like I can see the appeal, but they wouldn’t come anywhere close to being on my kid, like [name]Penelope[/name] and [name]Vivienne[/name]. Nice names, maybe MN potential, but eh. Not for me at all.
I do get irrationally mad about [name]Eloise[/name], though, lol. I go in spurts of not minding it, since everyone seems to love it and I feel like I should, too (especially since it pretty much fits my style), but I just don’t. It’s not a bad name, but I really don’t like it. I would love if it just went away for an itty bitty while.
I know what you mean about names that fit your style, but you just don’t like. I’m like that with [name]Alice[/name] and a few others.
I don’t have any names with more than 2 Y’s in mind, sorry! I just imagine it would make me angry.
I agree with [name]Ashley[/name]- I might not like or choose some names, but I don’t get angry over them.
Someone mentioned they have an aversion to “P” names- I think I have one to “V” names for some unknown reason!
