I am looking for names with the meaning or feel of [name]Mercy[/name] or [name]Truth[/name]. [name]Verity[/name] and [name]Mercy[/name] are lovely, but seem like a lot to live up to when it is directly in the name!

[name]Verina[/name], [name]Verdad[/name], [name]Vera[/name], [name]Veronica[/name], and [name]Veronique[/name] are great options.
[name]Alethea[/name] or [name]Elethea[/name] are beautiful as well.
I expanded my search to include some similar qualities like grace, charity, and gentleness, since I didn’t come up with much for either truth or mercy! There still isn’t a ton here, but hopefully this helps. (Also, for what it’s worth, I like [name]Verity[/name] a lot as a name in its own right.)

I love [name]Mercy[/name] and [name]Verity[/name], they’re both lovely. I love the option of [name]Clemence[/name] or [name]Clementine[/name] as well. I also think [name]True[/name] and [name]Truth[/name] both make beautiful options.
[name]Verina[/name]/[name]Verena[/name], [name]Verdad[/name], [name]Vera[/name], [name]Verona[/name], [name]Veronica[/name], and [name]Veronique[/name] are great options.
[name]Alethea[/name] or [name]Elethea[/name] are beautiful as well.
[name]Mercedes[/name], [name]Grace[/name], [name]Honor[/name], and [name]Hannah[/name] could all be options as well.
Ruhama or Ruchama means “mercy” or “compassion.” I like [name]Rue[/name] as a nickname too.
[name]Aletha[/name]/[name]Alethea[/name] means “truth.”
[name]Hanan[/name] means grace/mercy/compassion. It is used for boys in Hebrew (the female form being [name]Hannah[/name]) and used itself for girls in Arabic. If you count the grace meaning and [name]Hannah[/name] one could reasonably branch out to all the etymological descendents of [name]Hannah[/name], which are the entire [name]Anne[/name]/[name]Anna[/name] family.
[name]Anna[/name], [name]Hannah[/name], [name]Anya[/name], [name]Anita[/name], karis, [name]Charisse[/name], annalie are just a few I’ve found. I have two nieces, both born in [name]June[/name], both have names that are a derivative of grace (grace and [name]Karis[/name]). I am due to have a daughter on the fourth of [name]July[/name], so my husband and I have been looking at this too in case we have to keep with the pattern…small world:-) Good [name]Luck[/name]!
[name]Grace[/name] and variants: [name]Graciana[/name], [name]Graciella[/name], Gracinda, Graceline.
[name]Clemency[/name] and variants: [name]Clementine[/name], [name]Clemence[/name], [name]Clementia[/name].
In Japanese names, the “ma” sound is usually spelt with the character meaning “true” - so that gives you [name]Mai[/name], Manami, Mayu, [name]Maya[/name], Mariko, and many other options.
Congrats on your little girl! Fun the cousins have summer birthdays! I love the idea of truth/mercy/justice, even though my son’s name doesn’t directly mean these ([name]Atticus[/name] [name]Nathaniel[/name] = from Athens, Gift of God) but [name]Atticus[/name] is so strongly associated with the just and noble [name]Atticus[/name] [name]Finch[/name], so when I tried nailing down the “feel” of our naming style, and what I hold as important (I have Prov. 3:3 on my necklace “let not mercy and truth forsake you”) I want a girl’s name that conveys this!
Maybe [name]Johanna[/name] (God is gracious)? Or some variation? [name]Joanna[/name] is mentioned in [name]Luke[/name] 8 with the parable of the sower. [name]May[/name] be a nice compliment to proverbs 3:3.
[name]Vera[/name] means truth most directly, and in a way that won’t be a secret only to you. It also complements [name]Atticus[/name] nicely.
[name]Vera[/name] [name]Clementine[/name] makes a nice pair, and then you get [name]Truth[/name] and [name]Mercy[/name] both!
Good luck
I like Vrai! It means truth in french
I really love [name]Clemence[/name]!
Synonyms of mercy pity, compassion, clemency, grace, charity, ruth.
So I do love the suggestions of double meaning! [name]Vera[/name] [name]Clementine[/name] is beautiful, but I would want “V-eh-ra” vs. [name]Veer[/name]-a, which might annoy me!
I was on the Behind the Names website and came across [name]Beatrix[/name] (from late roman Viatrix, which means “voyager or traveler” (so a little different than [name]Beatrice[/name] which means blessed, but still a great meaning!).
And then there is the Catalan version of [name]Beatrix[/name]:
Beatriu
So I was thinking:
Beatriu [name]Mercy[/name]
It has the “true” sound in it, and it sort of puritan sounding virtuous sentence of Traveling [name]Mercy[/name]…but I always second guess myself:)
[name]Alethea[/name] is Koine Greek ([name]New[/name] Testament) for [name]Truth[/name]. I have a buddy that named her DD that and they call her [name]Layla[/name].
