Names that remind you of folk music

I’m expecting baby girl #2 in [name_f]October[/name_f] and I am struggling with names probably worse than I was when I was expecting [name_f]Willa[/name_f]. I feel like her name is something I could easily see on a folk singer and it does kind of bring me back to that genre of music which I absolutely love. Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of folk rock particularly Mumford & Sons and started to think of names that could go with [name_f]Willa[/name_f] that have that folksy vibe to them. This is how desperate I am to have this baby named before she is born. [name_f]Willa[/name_f] was literally named in the operating room and I don’t want a repeat of that. The name [name_f]Arla[/name_f] pops out at me as sort of a female version of the name [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] as in [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] [name_u]Guthrie[/name_u].

The two routes I see with this are nature names and names of actual folk singers.

[name_u]Joan[/name_u]
[name_f]Janis[/name_f]
[name_f]Marie[/name_f]
[name_u]Dylan[/name_u]
[name_u]Bobby[/name_u]
[name_f]Indigo[/name_f]
[name_f]Reverie[/name_f]
[name_m]Rivers[/name_m]
[name_u]Denver[/name_u]

Maybe a bird name like [name_f]Sparrow[/name_f], [name_f]Lark[/name_f], [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] or [name_u]Wren[/name_u]?

Hmm, these are names that seem folksy to me, but don’t necessarily have any connection to specific folk artists or songs:

[name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_f]Meg[/name_f]
[name_f]Delia[/name_f]
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Susannah[/name_f]

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] some of these help - even just to get your inspiration going!

[name_f]Willa[/name_f] and [name_f]Arla[/name_f] are gorgeous!!!

[name_f]Willa[/name_f] & [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f] & [name_f]Emmylou[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f] & [name_f]Joni[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f] & [name_m]Lief[/name_m] (maybe too out there)
[name_f]Willa[/name_f] & [name_f]Mary[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f] & [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]

…may also work. [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] is probably my favourite out of these. Sylvie would also be cute.

[name_u]Dylan[/name_u] might make a cute folk music reference as a middle name.

*[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Willa[/name_f]. [name_u]Love[/name_u] love love [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] for a boy, but I’m not a fan of [name_f]Arla[/name_f] for a girl :frowning:

[name_f]Melanie[/name_f] (though I don’t prefer with [name_f]Willa[/name_f]). From some other ladies, I could definitely see [name_f]Janis[/name_f], [name_f]Indigo[/name_f], Maybe place names like [name_f]India[/name_f] or [name_m]Israel[/name_m]? [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] (a personal fave). I’d say anything more on the hippie side…nature names/place names/musical names. I thought I’d be more help but I really don’t know! Def a good post!

On the [name_f]Arla[/name_f]/[name_u]Arlo[/name_u] note… We have a cousin named [name_u]Arlyn[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Willa[/name_f] and [name_u]Arlyn[/name_u] sound cute together.
