Names to get to Nellie & Nell?

Aside from the well known/obvious Helen, Helena, Helene, Elena, Eleanor (really not a fan), & Eleni what other names could I use that would achieve the nicknames Nellie and/or Nell? I’ve cast aside Annella as a possible idea because as pretty as it sounds it’s too, too close to Annora which I absolutely will not give up as a name for my first daughter.

Annelore to achieve the nn Nelle
  • Yes that works!
  • A bit of a stretch
  • Nope

Well, there’s [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] of course. And I knew a girl from Mexico named Adaneli, which I found quite striking.

[name_f]Annelore[/name_f] totally works for [name_f]Nell[/name_f]!

Anneliese/Annalisa
[name_f]Nella[/name_f]
[name_f]Nicolette[/name_f]
Noelle/Noella/Noelie/Noely/Noelia/Noelene
Emanuela/Emanuelly
Elizabeth/Elspeth/Elisa/Elise/Elsa/Ella
[name_f]Elva[/name_f]

IMO, basically anything that starts with “El” or contains “nel” could work. I would even go farther and say that if it contains the letters “n,” “e,” and “l,” such as [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] or [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], it could work. But I enjoy nicknames that are a stretch lol

I love [name_f]Arianell[/name_f]. Not sure if it’s been mentioned before. Also like [name_f]Nellary[/name_f] and [name_f]Nelda[/name_f] and [name_f]Fenella[/name_f].

I think it works. But I kind of like [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] & [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] more.

I also really like [name_f]Lenore[/name_f], even though I dislike [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], and that would work with [name_f]Nelle[/name_f] as a nn.

How is [name_f]Arianell[/name_f] said? I’m inclined to pronounce it as if I’m starting to say [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] but idk if that’s right since the name looks french

I say it that way too which is probably wrong, but it’s how I like it!

Stumbled onto [name_f]Leonelle[/name_f] after hours on Nameberry. This may work even better than [name_f]Annelore[/name_f] I’m thinking, especially since I love love love [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and all it’s variants even though they typically apply to boys

[name_f]Annelore[/name_f] works

[name_u]Endellion[/name_u], [name_f]Lenore[/name_f] and [name_f]Noella[/name_f] maybe?
