So my other thread asking for names similar to [name]Cleo[/name] got me thinking, what about longer names that could get me to the nickname [name]Cleo[/name]? I already had [name]Colette[/name] suggested, any other ideas?
You could use [name]Cliona[/name]- who, in some Irish myths, is the goddess of love and beauty. Other spellings include Cliodhna, Clidna, Clionadh, Cliodna or Cleena. I think it’s lovely.
I just read that the mother of [name]Angelica[/name] Kauffman (18c. painter) was named Cleophea; I’ve also seen Cléophée (=the French equivalent?).
There’s also Cleome (a flower), Cleodora (a Greek nymph, mother of Parnassus), Cleodolinda, Cleolinda, Cleïs (name of [name]Sappho[/name]'s daughter), Clélie (Latin: Cloelia; could also be “[name]Clell[/name]”)…
[name]Cleone[/name]
[name]Cleonie[/name]
[name]Cleona[/name]
[name]Cleopatra[/name] (obvi)
kinda a stretch but:
[name]Caledonia[/name]
[name]Calliope[/name]
[name]Caroline[/name]
[name]Coralie[/name]
[name]Clotilda[/name]
[name]Colleen[/name]
[name]Connelly[/name]
Cléophée is an option.
I love [name]Cleo[/name]/[name]Clio[/name] a lot better as full names. I also love [name]Cleopatra[/name] (and know one) and wish it would come back, but I understand it’s not everyone’s cup of tea.
[name]How[/name] about:
Cleodal (a glorious woman)
Cleodora (gift of god)
Cleofe (clee-oh-fee – she who shows signs of glory)
[name]Cleone[/name] (clee-oh-nee – famous/father’s glory)
That’s all I got >.<
I love [name]Clio[/name] as a stand alone name! But I also like [name]Cleopatra[/name] and suggestions of Cleodora…or [name]Cliona[/name] (the nost wearable wearable [name]IMO[/name]!)
Possibly [name]Clover[/name]? Might be a stretch but it could work. [name]Cleo[/name] is fine on it’s own, imo.
[name]Cleonie[/name]/[name]Cleone[/name] is pretty, I’ve never heard that before!
Thanks for all the ideas! I’m still trying to convince my DH to take [name]Cleo[/name] just as it is, but its good to have some other options to present him with. Recently he said he might like [name]Cleo[/name] better if we spelled it with a K, so Kleo. I for some reason just don’t like that as much, I sometimes think he just wants to have had some hand in the name picking, if that makes sense.
