What are some names to get to [name_u]Rori[/name_u] for a nn? I’m not a big fan of [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], and apparently [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] can get you [name_u]Rori[/name_u], but I’m not a fan of that either. I also saw on another site [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] as a possible name to get [name_u]Rori[/name_u] from which I sort of like, but still. I came up with maybe [name_f]Moria[/name_f]? Or possibly stretching [name_f]Maura[/name_f] or [name_m]Maurie[/name_m], but those are already short names to get a nn from. Anything I’m missing? [name_f]TIA[/name_f]!
My first thought was of course [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]. Second, [name_f]Rowena[/name_f]. I’ll pick anything with [name_f]Ro[/name_f]-, really.
I would say [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]. [name_u]Romy[/name_u] is maybe more common, but it starts with [name_f]Ro[/name_f] and ends with ry, so I think [name_u]Rory[/name_u] works.
it would be a stretch, but maybe [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]?
[name_m]Even[/name_m] more of a stretch, but [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] or [name_f]Veronica[/name_f]? not the least bit intuitive, but at least the ‘ro’ is there!
[name_f]Flora[/name_f] or [name_f]Laura[/name_f] nn [name_u]Rory[/name_u]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]. Its a bit of a stretch, but we are considering [name_u]Rory[/name_u] as a nn for [name_f]Corinne[/name_f]/[name_f]Corrine[/name_f].
I know a [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] nn [name_u]Romy[/name_u]
My thoughts were [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] or [name_f]Lenore[/name_f]. Good luck!
[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]
[name_f]Sephora[/name_f]
[name_f]Coralie[/name_f]
[name_f]Coraline[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorena[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]
[name_f]Gloria[/name_f]
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f]
[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]
[name_f]Theodora[/name_f]
[name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]
I also like the suggestion of [name_f]Florence[/name_f].
[name_u]Laurence[/name_u]
I of course I thought [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]! But if you love [name_u]Rori[/name_u] that much then you can just use it as an actual name and not just a nickname but you could also spell it [name_u]Rory[/name_u] to make it more common.
I do like the suggestion of [name_f]Florence[/name_f]! Not too much of a strech really, and if [name_u]Rory[/name_u] will be used from day dot then it will certainly work
Obviously [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] is the automatic choice for [name_u]Rory[/name_u]/[name_u]Rori[/name_u] nickname (I prefer the [name_u]Rory[/name_u] spelling). Some of these are sort of a stretch, but they could work.
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]/[name_f]Eleanora[/name_f]
[name_f]Amoret[/name_f]
[name_f]Andora[/name_f]
[name_f]Coralie[/name_f]/[name_f]Coraline[/name_f]/Corazon/[name_f]Corisande[/name_f] etc.
[name_f]Delores[/name_f]
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f]
[name_f]Elora[/name_f]/Alora
[name_f]Fiora[/name_f]/[name_f]Fiorella[/name_f]
[name_f]Hortense[/name_f]/[name_f]Horacia[/name_f]
[name_u]Jordan[/name_u]
[name_f]Kimora[/name_f]
[name_f]Laurel[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]
[name_f]Gloria[/name_f]
[name_f]Mallory[/name_f]
[name_f]Ora[/name_f]/[name_f]Onora[/name_f]/[name_f]Orabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Oriana[/name_f]
[name_u]Porter[/name_u]/[name_f]Portia[/name_f]
[name_f]Samora[/name_f]
[name_f]Tamora[/name_f]
[name_f]Theodora[/name_f]
[name_f]Zipporah[/name_f]
@c@29 Thanks for the suggestion!
@emsky [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] is an interesting thought. I also though it was funny you mentioned [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] because I had just come across it and wondered about it since it has a nice “oro” in it.
@tree_loves_eth If my first two boys had been girls they would have been named [name_f]Laura[/name_f]. It’s still a name I like
@nmp233 I have a friend called [name_m]Cor[/name_m]! who’s name is [name_m]Cor[/name_m]!inna I believe. I’ve thought about that in my searches because [name_m]Cor[/name_m]! rhymes with [name_u]Rory[/name_u].
Thank you for the suggestions @Lillian85, @trysaratops, @Ashleyjuliette, @miss_emily
@chloe14 I’ve considered using it as just [name_u]Rory[/name_u], without it being short for anything, but when I last suggested a short name to dh he said he liked having longer names then having the shorter name. I just want to have some options ready when I do throw the name out there too him
@ matti12 Thank you for the list! I like [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f]! With [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] and [name_f]Laura[/name_f] as suggestions I’ve wondered about [name_f]Dolores[/name_f], and saw [name_f]Delores[/name_f] on your list. [name_f]Dolores[/name_f] is my grandma’s name and I’ve gone back and forth on using it.
What do y’all think of [name_f]Dolores[/name_f] with nn of [name_u]Rory[/name_u]? Any other suggestions?
