I love my dad and would love to have a baby name to honor him but would never name a little baby [name_u]Gary[/name_u]. Can you help me come up with a few options? All I have is [name_m]Gerrit[/name_m] ( I’m not even sure that is the proper spelling, lol). Any ideas/suggestions would be most welcomed. I am not pregnant but TTC and building my lists:-) Thank you!
I saw you have [name_u]Ray[/name_u] in your list - how about [name_u]Gray[/name_u]? It’s the same letters as [name_u]Gary[/name_u], and could work for a boy or girl.
I should have mentioned that my sister already has a little [name_u]Gray[/name_u] so that’s out but I do love the name!
Perhaps [name_m]Garrett[/name_m]?
You could also use the alternate [name_m]Garrett[/name_m] spelling, or [name_m]Garrison[/name_m], maybe even [name_m]Garrick[/name_m] if your feeling a little international lol. Also there are [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_m]Grayson[/name_m]/ [name_m]Greyson[/name_m], [name_m]Graves[/name_m], and [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]/ [name_f]Margot[/name_f]. Though its a stretch I think [name_m]Jagger[/name_m] and [name_m]Griffith[/name_m] have the [name_u]Gary[/name_u] vibe and are awesome names.
Are you set on honoring his first name, or is there a middle name you’d be interested in working with as well? I wanted to honor my dad, but didn’t like [name_m]William[/name_m], so we used his middle name [name_u]Francis[/name_u] for our son. Or maybe think about combing his name with someone else you’d like to honor? Our daughter’s middle name is Terise, a combination of [name_f]Terra[/name_f] and [name_f]Denise[/name_f], her two grandmas. And I thought about [name_m]Franklin[/name_m] as well, a combination of [name_u]Francis[/name_u] and [name_u]Lynn[/name_u], my mom’s middle name. Or maybe another option could be a name that rhymes or sounds similar to [name_u]Gary[/name_u].
I like [name_m]Gareth[/name_m]
[name_m]Garth[/name_m] is also a possibility.
Thanks so much for the great advice! I really like [name_m]Gareth[/name_m]. We may also use his middle as an honor name. Thanks again:-)
[name_m]Garrett[/name_m], [name_m]Garth[/name_m], [name_m]Gareth[/name_m], [name_u]Gray[/name_u], [name_m]Garrison[/name_m]… I think those have all been mentioned.
[name_f]Garnet[/name_f]? I love it
You could give the kid the same initials as your Dad. G- names I like: [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m], [name_m]Gustavo[/name_m], [name_m]Gordon[/name_m], [name_m]Griffin[/name_m], [name_m]Gaston[/name_m], [name_m]Garner[/name_m], [name_m]George[/name_m], [name_m]Giancarlo[/name_m], [name_m]Giordano[/name_m], [name_m]Gregorio[/name_m], Gove, Godric, [name_m]Guillaume[/name_m].
You could also ask your dad for his help naming the baby, or name the babe after something important to him or something you love about him.
Have you considered [name_m]Gareth[/name_m]? It definitely honors [name_u]Gary[/name_u], and has plenty of history, as he was a knight of the round table. Also, it has the nickname option of [name_u]Gary[/name_u], has a lovely ending that pairs well with many names, and is just a great name. However, I am very biased as I like [name_m]Gareth[/name_m] a lot.
[name_u]Gary[/name_u] is not a great name.
I love [name_f]Garnet[/name_f], have known a male [name_f]Garnet[/name_f] and it was great on him.
[name_u]Grady[/name_u] too.
Maybe [name_u]Gray[/name_u] which has been mentioned thats all I can think of.
I was going to suggest [name_u]Gray[/name_u], as well. I actually know someone having their third, second boy, whom they plan on naming [name_m]Ryker[/name_m] [name_u]Gray[/name_u]. Dad’s name is [name_u]Gary[/name_u] and he doesn’t like it, but they like the connection to [name_u]Gray[/name_u] has to [name_u]Gary[/name_u]. It’s a shame you can’t use it.
I prefer the [name_m]Garrett[/name_m] spelling of the name you mentioned. The others seem misspelled to me. I like the suggestion of [name_m]Garrison[/name_m], as well.
Other suggestions:
[name_u]Grady[/name_u]
[name_m]Gareth[/name_m]
My grandfather was [name_f]Garnet[/name_f]. I love it. His nickname was Garnie. You could also go with the spelling [name_u]Garnett[/name_u], but I don’t like it - looks like [name_u]GarNETT[/name_u].
