Our top choice for a first name is [name_f]Melina[/name_f]. We want the middle name to honor [name_f]Louise[/name_f], but [name_f]Melina[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] doesn’t flow well for me. The last name will likely be two syllables and sound close to Capell. The other option for last name is similar to [name_m]Pell[/name_m]. Last name issues are for another post, but you can keep them in mind for flow.
With a two syllable last name, I really like 1 syllable in the middle for a 3-1-2 flow. With a 1 syllable last name, I like 3-2-1, so [name_f]Melina[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] [name_m]Pell[/name_m] would be okay, but still having issues with the sound of [name_f]Louise[/name_f].
Aside from [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] and [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], what are some variants/ways to honor [name_f]Louise[/name_f]?
Edit - I’d also consider just using the first letter (L). Any favorite, one-syllable L names?
All beautiful names, but the main reason I don’t like [name_f]Louise[/name_f] with [name_f]Melina[/name_f] is the long ee sound, which all of these have (unless I’m pronouncing incorrectly). [name_f]Aloisa[/name_f] is a great first if we decide not to go with [name_f]Melina[/name_f].
I’m confused–is the surname one or two syllables? I was prepared to suggest [name_u]Lou[/name_u] or [name_f]Eloisa[/name_f], but [name_f]Eloisa[/name_f] still has the “EE” sound, and [name_f]Melina[/name_f] [name_f]Eloisa[/name_f] is even more rhymey than [name_f]Melina[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]. I hear [name_f]Lois[/name_f] is also a form of [name_f]Louise[/name_f]/et al, so maybe [name_f]Melina[/name_f] [name_f]Lois[/name_f], too? [name_f]Melina[/name_f] [name_u]Lou[/name_u] seems like the best solution, imo. I think [name_u]Lou[/name_u] is adorable.
I like the idea of finding another name with a similar meaning. Her surname wouldn’t work, unfortunately.
