I’d really love our baby girl’s middle name to be [name_f]Irene[/name_f] after my grandmother. Our last name starts with B though, and I don’t want any goofy initial sets. Therefore, I think the first name has to start with a vowel.
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f] <----- my top choice, growing on DH, but he is not sold yet
Adah Irene <-------- his top choice, I like it but it sounds too much like Ava, which is too popular for my taste
Faith Irene <-------- we both love, but I don’t want initials that spell FIB!
Eliza Irene <-------- I like but he is only lukewarm on this one
We like names that are old fashioned and less common, but not “out there.” I’d like people to know how to pronounce it by looking and spell it by listening.
I like [name_f]Adah[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f] best. [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f] end in the same sound, unless you pronounce [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] differently, but I would say its the second best combo.
I love the name [name_f]Irene[/name_f]… & [name_f]Faith[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f] is also my favourite! Could you turn it around for [name_f]Irene[/name_f] [name_f]Faith[/name_f]?
Some other suggestions that come to mind:
I love [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f] and [name_f]Faith[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f] from your list.
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f] - feels like a nice solution, except if you love [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] because you want to call her [name_f]Em[/name_f]/[name_f]Emma[/name_f]/[name_f]Emme[/name_f]/[name_f]Emmy[/name_f].
[name_f]Alicia[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f]
[name_f]Eveline[/name_f]/[name_f]Evelina[/name_f]/[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] [name_f]Irene[/name_f]
[name_f]Elsa[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f]
[name_f]Catherine[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f]
[name_f]Alexa[/name_f]/[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f]
[name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f]
I really want to love [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f], too (it looks so beautiful!), but I say them both with the EEN ending, so unless you say it different, that’s a no-go for me. Otherwise, I like [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f]. [name_f]Adah[/name_f]'s okay, but [name_f]Adah[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f] sounds a bit abrupt, and I’ve never been a huge [name_f]Faith[/name_f] fan. I like the suggestion of [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f], as well!
I like [name_f]Emmaline[/name_f] (em-[name_m]AH[/name_m]-lyn) [name_f]Irene[/name_f] (ie-REEN). Very sweet.
[name_f]Irene[/name_f] is my mom’s name so I have been toying with the idea of it as a potential ie-[name_f]REE[/name_f]-nee and prefers the german ie-RE-nu. So it depends on how you plan to pronounce it.
I think ie-REEN is a popular english pronunciation and I prefer it to ie-[name_f]REE[/name_f]-nee which makes me think of [name_f]Irina[/name_f] (ie-[name_f]REE[/name_f]-nah) instead. So for the ie-REEN pronunciation I’d suggest:
[name_f]Antoinette[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f]
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f]
[name_f]Irene[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f]/[name_f]Elinor[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f]
[name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f]
[name_f]Irene[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]/ [name_f]Irene[/name_f] [name_f]Viola[/name_f] (vee-OH-la)
You’re received some lovely suggestions here! I wonder if maybe you are worrying a bit too much about the initials? FIB isn’t awful; I doubt most people would even notice it. More ideas…sorry for repeats…
