Names where word associations shape the vibes

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all!

I was thinking about what it is that leads a name to have a particular feel, or give off a particular vibe to me, and I think sometimes it comes down to word association.

By this, I mean names that give me specific images, vibes and feeling, not because of their actual meaning, but because they sound like a word or remind me of a word

As examples, these come to mind:

[name_f]Cherith[/name_f] → reminds me of cherish and therefore feels special, cosy, comforting

[name_m]Solomon[/name_m] → reminds me of soul and solemn, and therefore feels like a serious, thoughtful name!

[name_f]Saskia[/name_f] → reminds me of ‘sassy’ and therefore feels bold, lively and confident

[name_f]Embla[/name_f] → reminds me of ‘ember’ and reminds me of campfires, warmth and hope

[name_m]Gideon[/name_m] → reminds me of ‘giddy’ and gives me lively vibes - intense, maybe studious, maybe active

[name_m]Kester[/name_m] → reminds me of kestrel, and feels elegant, outdoorsy and adventurous

[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] → reminds me of melody, and therefore feels musical, melodious and sweet

[name_m]Orson[/name_m] → reminds me of awesome, so it gives me cool, breezy vibes

So, what names give you particular vibes because they sound like words or remind you of a word? It doesn’t have to be an [name_f]English[/name_f] word - I’m just intrigued if anyone else gets this!!

Have a great day everyone

I’ve been calling them ‘word-adjacent-names’ in my head but not sure that quite fits.

I liked [name_m]Sutton[/name_m] since the first time I saw it because in Croatian, the word suton means twilight, so I get pretty imagery from the name even though the way in which the name is pronounced is different from the pronunciation of the word.

[name_f]Mila[/name_f], being a term of endearmen in my language that is used even if your name is not [name_f]Mila[/name_f], has a very gentle and soft vibe.

[name_m]Stellan[/name_m] reminds me of starry nights even though its meaning is not connected to stars.

Rose related names (Rosalie, Rosemary, Rosalind, etc.) are all various shades of red/pink to me and usually have roses show up somewhere in the imagery.
Marina is very blue with some ocean influences.
Evangeline is very angelic and bright like white and gold and feathers.
Names with Li, Lav, Vi, etc. sounds (Lavinia, Vivienne, Lila, etc.) are all purple because of the similarity to lilac/lavender/violet.
Oliver and Olive feel very green because of the color olive green but for some reason Olivia doesn’t.

And then some of these extend to other names too like my ocean association for Marina then contributes to a lot of other M names also feeling blue.

Huette, Feminine form of [name_m]Hugh[/name_m]: Reminds me of “hue”, therefore being colourful and bright.

This is true. I don’t think it’s always on a conscious level. A couple come to mind:

[name_f]Roxane[/name_f] - ‘rocks’ as in rock’n’roll and having a rebellious and carefree attitude

[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] - ‘tricks’ adds a little touch of mischief

[name_m]Oliver[/name_m] - livery - a smart blue and gold uniform

[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] - mealy, mealy-mouthed - I didn’t used to like this name and I wonder if part of it was an association with this pejorative expression? But it’s only looking at the top 10 for this thread that I’ve made this connection so who knows. I’m very suggestible!

[name_m]Liam[/name_m] - lamb - makes me think of fleecy blankets and a gentle personality!

[name_m]Lucas[/name_m] - castinets - but it’s cymbals I think of, clashing together, so yeah up, percussion vibes

[name_m]Atticus[/name_m] - artic - a boy in his bedroom in the attic.

[name_f]Cressida[/name_f] - cress, watercress - witchy, villainous vibes! [name_f]Love[/name_f] this name, however.
