[name_m]Hi[/name_m], I’m looking for names that only have one spelling like [name_f]Ramona[/name_f], [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f], [name_f]Tessa[/name_f], ect… I’m sure some people can come up with some cr8tiv spellings and prove me wrong but I’m just really drawn to names with one known spelling. I’d like to stay out of the top 100 but definitely nothing too popular if it’s in the top 100. Thanks.
As a side note- I know these don’t necessarily fit this description but are [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] and [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] too dated? Thanks.
They aren’t a bit old fasioned and here are some random ideas I came up with
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]
[name_f]Marie[/name_f]
[name_f]Kate[/name_f]
[name_u]Ashton[/name_u]
[name_f]Natalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f]
[name_f]Natasha[/name_f]
[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f]
Leisel
[name_f]Corrine[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f]
[name_f]Nora[/name_f]
FYI [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] can also be spelled [name_f]Mathilda[/name_f], but I know what you mean.
Names like:
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucinda[/name_f]/[name_f]Lucille[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]
[name_f]Maria[/name_f]
[name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f]
[name_f]Henrietta[/name_f]
[name_f]Jacinta[/name_f]
[name_f]Celia[/name_f]
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]
I personally feel that [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] is dated, even though I know a 2 year old with this name.
[name_f]Lauren[/name_f] may be a little dated, but I prefer her and feel like [name_f]Laura[/name_f] or [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] is more usable
[name_f]Miranda[/name_f] fits with the others you listed. Maybe [name_f]Serena[/name_f]? [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]? [name_u]Winter[/name_u]? Probably
lots of the “word” names like [name_f]Autumn[/name_f], [name_u]Sage[/name_u], etc.
A lot of the ones maddyair suggested have variant spellings:
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]: [name_f]Jemma[/name_f]
[name_f]Marie[/name_f]: [name_f]Maree[/name_f]
[name_f]Kate[/name_f]: cate
[name_f]Natalie[/name_f]: [name_f]Nathalie[/name_f] and [name_f]Natalee[/name_f]
[name_f]Natasha[/name_f]: [name_f]Natashya[/name_f]
Some I can think of: [name_f]Victoria[/name_f],
[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]: [name_f]Anastazia[/name_f]
Leisel: Leisl
[name_f]Nora[/name_f]: [name_f]Norah[/name_f]
And [name_u]Sage[/name_u] can be [name_u]Saige[/name_u]
My list:
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Calla[/name_f]
[name_f]Verity[/name_f]
[name_f]Camille[/name_f]
And I don’t think [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] and [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] are dated
and I do think [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] and [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] are a bit dated. [name_f]Every[/name_f] [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] or [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] I know was born before 1995. But I’ve never been a fan of them, so that might just be a personal bias.
ALL names can be spelled more than one way. To ask for a name with only one spelling is virtually impossible. All I can think of would be [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] or [name_f]Florence[/name_f], but even then, there’s probably a variant spelling somewhere.
[name_f]Grace[/name_f] is generally [name_f]Grace[/name_f], but some may change it…
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_u]Kennedy[/name_u]
[name_f]Lucille[/name_f]
[name_u]London[/name_u]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Maureen[/name_f]
It depends what kind of “ONE Spelling” you mean.
One normal spelling? Like there’s no other, legitimate spelling (with this pronunciation) of [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f].
Or one spelling in general? Which is not possible nowadays with all the yooneek-ness. [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] turns into [name_f]Rosalee[/name_f], etc!
Some rules I thought of:
Almost any name starting with “C” has a legitimate K spelling. [name_f]Clara[/name_f] turns into [name_f]Klara[/name_f].
If the name starts with J and is popular in [name_f]Italy[/name_f], there’s a Gi spelling. [name_f]Julia[/name_f] becomes [name_f]Giulia[/name_f].
If an “E” name is popular in [name_f]France[/name_f], Spain or Portugal, there’s sometimes a silent H in front of the E. [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] is [name_f]Heloise[/name_f].
Here’s a few that I don’t know a different, “real” spelling of:
(sorry for repeats)
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Ida[/name_f]
[name_f]Laura[/name_f]
[name_f]Paula[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] (french [name_f]Violette[/name_f] would be Vee-oh-let)
[name_f]Viola[/name_f]
[name_u]Wren[/name_u]
[name_f]Lola[/name_f]
[name_f]Ella[/name_f]
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f]
Sorry for any repeats! This is just a random selection from my long list that seem to only have one well-recognised spelling:
[name_f]Verity[/name_f]
[name_f]Zelda[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
[name_f]Opal[/name_f]
[name_f]Maxine[/name_f]
[name_f]Liberty[/name_f]
[name_f]Henrietta[/name_f]
[name_f]Clemency[/name_f]
[name_f]Alberta[/name_f]
[name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Constance[/name_f]
[name_f]Celia[/name_f]
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_f]Alma[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f] (pronounced with long i, not -lin)
For what it’s worth though, I personally worry far more about names with more than one pronunciation rather than multiple spellings, as I think the former would be much harder to live with!
Also, I find [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] and [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] to be more classic than super severely dated
Thank you all. I love a lot of those names and have added them to my list. I do know that most names can be spelled in different ways if you get creative enough but you all hit the mark with what I meant. I guess maybe a better way to explain it is if I was looking at the ssa of the top 1000 names, which ones would appear only once with only one spelling instead of names like [name_f]Adelyn[/name_f], [name_u]Madison[/name_u], [name_f]Kaylee[/name_f], ect… I think I just hate having to spell my name all the time so I was interested to hear some names that it wouldn’t be such a factor. Thanks again!
