I’d love to hear your favorite names that have the [name_f]Mae[/name_f] sound in them! My grandmother has been VERY honored in my family already so I’m always on the hunt for interesting ways to honor her (Mae was her middle name). So far, [name_f]Esme[/name_f], [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], and [name_f]Maeva[/name_f] top the list for me, but I’m curious what I might’ve missed. Double barrels or compound names like [name_f]Wishmay[/name_f] or Flora-May aren’t off the table, but I do prefer the less obvious options like [name_f]Esme[/name_f] and [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]. Which names with the [name_f]Mae[/name_f] sound would you add?
[name_f]Macie[/name_f] / [name_f]Macey[/name_f] / etc, [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], [name_f]Mayella[/name_f], [name_f]Maela[/name_f], [name_f]Mavis[/name_f], and [name_f]Maple[/name_f] come to mind!
My first thoughts were [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_f]Mavis[/name_f] and [name_f]Maple[/name_f], although i really like the idea of using [name_f]Esme[/name_f]!
Ones I haven’t seen anyone mention yet:
[name_f]Mavie[/name_f], [name_f]Maelle[/name_f], [name_f]Maelynn[/name_f], [name_f]Maila[/name_f], [name_f]Malia[/name_f], [name_f]Maelia[/name_f], [name_f]Ismay[/name_f]
These might lean a bit more maculine for you but: [name_f]Mavery[/name_f], [name_m]Mayer[/name_m], [name_m]Mayson[/name_m] / [name_m]Maysen[/name_m]
Some I don’t think I’ve seen are [name_f]Amélie[/name], [name_f]Mamie[/name], [name_f]Maya[/name] and [name_f]Mebh[/name]. I want to second [name_f]Mavis[/name] as well!
[name_f]Love[/name_f] the idea of [name_f]Esme[/name_f]! I also really like the previous suggestions of [name_f]Maple[/name_f] & [name_f]Ismay[/name_f]
I’m sure some of these will be repeats or ones you’ve heard – and I’ve thrown in some where the ‘mae’ sound is there, but with a sound inbetween – not sure if they count
Oh, Amélie is so near my heart… I have never said it with a May sound though. And quite honestly, it would be an honor name for a very dear friend that passed away in 2011 so it’s hard to connect it to my grandmother. Otherwise it’s a wonderful idea, though!
Oh I do like Romée, though I’m not sure I could use her over my beloved Romy? I’m so in love with Romy lately!
She’s more compound wordy than I usually go, but she is really lovely!
why did I not think of Mireia before this?! With Tess Mireia on my list already… it could definitely be an honor name. Genius!
Oh, has intriguing potential, or Rosemée?
Ohhh, even more reason to consider her! I’ve been thinking how much I want to love Salome, but I still struggle to connect with her. I’ll have to give her some thought, because honoring my grandmother is an extra wonderful bonus!
