Ok, I have fallen in love with the nickname [name]Meg[/name]. (thanks to @axps123:) ) I kind of like [name]Margaret[/name], and I don’t like [name]Megan[/name], are there any other names that would suit my very classic style?
It could work as a short form for most Marg- names. Since [name]Megan[/name] and [name]Margaret[/name] aren’t to your liking, how about [name]Marguerite[/name], [name]Margot[/name], and [name]Margery[/name]?
I have a similar problem! I love [name]Meg[/name], but dislike the natural “origin name” [name]Margaret[/name] (and [name]Megan[/name]'s a bit off, even if I/you did like it, because it’s pronounced more like [name]MAY[/name]-gun).
I like the name Megara, but most will only associate it with the Disney princess as opposed to the actual Greek mythological figure (even in the myth, she doesn’t do much, and one version has it she’s killed by her husband. Yikes).
I’ve heard of people using [name]Magnolia[/name], [name]Marguerite[/name], [name]Marigold[/name] and [name]Magdalena[/name] (and all its variations) as well.
There’s also the unusual-sounding [name]Megane[/name], which is just different enough from plain old [name]Megan[/name] you might give it a try.
The Japanese name [name]Megumi[/name] has a lovely meaning (“blessing” or “blessed beauty”) but is very unusual.
There’s also the old standby of using a combo with an M first name and G middle, a few E’s somewhere in between to try and get to [name]Meg[/name].
Mega – mild, gentle, peaceful
Megara – pearl
Meghana – thunder
Megiddo – from the army’s camp
[name]Megumi[/name] – blessed beauty
[name]Omega[/name]
Names with [name]Mag[/name] (I know some people take [name]Mag[/name] names and use the nickname [name]Meg[/name])
Magalie – It is known as the title of a Provençal folk song, and could be derived as a Provençal form of [name]Margaret[/name]. You could also just change it to Megalie which I actually think is cute
[name]Magdalena[/name] – of [name]Magdala[/name]
Magena – the coming moon
Magna – great
[name]Magnolia[/name]
Names with Marg (since [name]Margaret[/name] is the origin name of [name]Meg[/name])
Margana – one who seeks the truth
[name]Margaretta[/name]
[name]Margi[/name] – direction; marjoram herb; pearl
[name]Margot[/name]/[name]Margo[/name] – pearl
[name]Marguerite[/name] – pearl
Names that start with ME with a G middle name (there’s a lot of combos out there so I’ll just make examples)
Magalie is cute! I have never really like [name]Marguerite[/name] because it reminds me of margarita. I used to love [name]Margot[/name] so much, but I’m not too sure on it now. [name]Audrey[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] & [name]Margot[/name] just doesn’t seem right. [name]Margery[/name]/[name]Marjorie[/name] is ok, but seems a bit dated. I kind of like [name]Mara[/name] or [name]Mary[/name] ([name]Mara[/name] is a family name) but I am not a huge fan of G names. An Allera or [name]Morgana[/name] could go by [name]Meg[/name], but both are much to heavy for me. [name]Man[/name] I’m picky!
I think Magdelena could also work. Or [name]Morgana[/name]. I actually know a [name]Morgana[/name] who goes by [name]Meg[/name]. Sorry, if those names have been mentioned already.
[name]Ive[/name] been pining for years now to have a little [name]Allegra[/name] ‘[name]Meg[/name]’. Not traditional, but not any different from [name]Peggy[/name] for [name]Margaret[/name] or [name]Polly[/name] for [name]Mary[/name]. I just love [name]Meg[/name], but like you, don’t love any of the names it’s a traditional nickname for.
