I can (unfortunately) only picture myself using 4 names (2 of each gender) and T&P for the eldest boy and girl, so I’m gonna be a little screwed if my future DH doesn’t like them I guess I’d be willing to compromise on middle names, but first names I’m just…not
I don’t have middle names for them at the moment, but [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], [name_u]Benjamin[/name_u], or [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] are my front runners for real future children
I have a top 20 list of names for either gender and I would say the majority of the names in the list I would use. I cannot see myself having difficulty naming my child [name_f]Lilia[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_f]Eve[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f] or [name_f]Belle[/name_f]. But I do have names on my list that I just don’t think I would use like [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f], [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], [name_f]Olive[/name_f] or [name_f]Meadow[/name_f]. With [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] I just can’t picture myself with a child named [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f]. [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] I think the nicknames and teasing potential in my very jokey family would be too much. [name_f]Olive[/name_f] I just cannot see myself using and [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] is too daring.
For boys most my list I could see myself using [name_u]Noah[/name_u], [name_u]Ezra[/name_u], [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_m]Elijah[/name_m], [name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m], [name_u]Finley[/name_u], [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], [name_m]Abraham[/name_m], [name_m]Abel[/name_m] and [name_u]Jude[/name_u] for sure but I have on my boys list [name_u]Forest[/name_u], [name_u]River[/name_u] & [name_u]Robin[/name_u]. I just think [name_u]Forest[/name_u] & [name_u]River[/name_u] are too out there and [name_u]Robin[/name_u] are just know if it’s too feminine for the working class area I live in I just think it could result in teasing.
Pretty much any combo in my UC (except [name_f]Eupraxia[/name_f] [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] [name_u]Storm[/name_u], love the combo but that might be a tad too much for an actual kid ). But I do think that with some combos I would change them up a little bit if they were for an actual kid. One thing I also always do with combos is to see if they sound good with my surname so I know all of these would work decently with my name. [name_f]My[/name_f] tops would be-
As far as first names go, it really depends on where I would raise my children but
[name_f]Flora[/name_f],
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m],
[name_m]Edgar[/name_m],
[name_f]Emma[/name_f],
[name_f]Ada[/name_f],
[name_m]Oscar[/name_m],
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m],
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] and
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
work pretty much everywhere.
In an [name_f]English[/name_f]-speaking country (or [name_f]France[/name_f]) I would use [name_f]Rose[/name_f] in a heartbeat though.
I’d use every name in my UC! Right now, I can really see myself with a little [name_m]Gideon[/name_m], [name_m]Casper[/name_m], [name_f]Willa[/name_f] or [name_f]Runa[/name_f] in future
Thank you. I added [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] to the list knowing full well that I could never use it (well I wouldn’t mind because I don’t live in my home country but my child would still spend loads of time there so still nope). [name_m]Little[/name_m] did I know it would become my #2 very quickly.
I’d probably use all of the names in my UC, but I can 100% see myself with an [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_u]Basil[/name_u] & [name_m]Wilbur[/name_m] Girls are a little bit trickier, but [name_f]Edith[/name_f] is my current #1!
There are a few boy names that I love, but can’t use for various reasons. Mostly [name_m]Seamus[/name_m] & [name_m]Patrick[/name_m]. Both are taken by nephews. And [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] as well. That was dh’s grandpa’s name, & he has enough negative opinions on him in the family for it to be unusable. The main love of mine that I feel is unusable is [name_m]Colm[/name_m]. It just doesn’t sound right w/out an Irish accent. I don’t have one, & I don’t live in [name_f]Ireland[/name_f].
Most of my favorite girl names seem fairly usable. I just love [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], & I would maybe not use it in real life. [name_m]Just[/name_m] because it’s so darn popular.
Amelie [name_f]Elaina[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Elysia[/name_f], [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Davina[/name_f] [name_f]Holiday[/name_f], [name_u]Clarke[/name_u] [name_f]Viviana[/name_f], and [name_f]Francie[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] for girls
and
Ronan [name_m]Bader[/name_m], [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_u]Roscoe[/name_u], [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] [name_m]Andrei[/name_m] and [name_m]Fintan[/name_m] [name_m]Elio[/name_m] for boys
I would use any of the names on my user card. I’m pretty sure that [name_u]Douglas[/name_u] is my boy’s name, and at the moment my favourite for a girl is [name_f]Hester[/name_f]. The combos are more up in the air.
I would name my child:
[name_f]Mia[/name_f] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
[name_f]Vanessa[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
Dean [name_m]Christopher[/name_m]
[name_u]Timothy[/name_u] [name_m]Randall[/name_m]
[name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Otto[/name_m]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_m]Isaac[/name_m]
Winifred nn [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] - my forever fave Louisa nn [name_u]Lou[/name_u] - my current fave Dorothea nn [name_f]Dot[/name_f] - the name I have a feeling my SO and I would compromise on
Casper - the one we keep coming back to and the perfect cross section of both of our tastes. I like boy names that could be found in a 1950s comic strip or cartoon ([name_m]Linus[/name_m], [name_m]Archie[/name_m], etc). He likes names that are distinguished, strong and eccentric. The one drawback is that I don’t know if our families will like it, but oh well?
I think [name_m]Casper[/name_m] is the perfect crossing of your styles. I also think your families will love it when there is a real human being to associate with the name, if they don’t like it before that.
