Names you're sick of hearing/Just hate?

Place names such as [name]Brooklyn[/name] or [name]London[/name] for little girls. Some place names are lovely and have a history of being given as names, [name]Brooklyn[/name] which I have to hear all the time does not. I can’t stand it.

Overly popular names like [name]Lily[/name] [and it’s variations], [name]Ella[/name], [name]Bella[/name], etc.

Filler middle names: [name]Ann[/name], [name]Grace[/name], [name]Mae[/name], [name]Marie[/name], [name]Lynn[/name], [name]Lee[/name], [name]Rose[/name], [name]Hope[/name], etc. [These names might actually make decent/cool first names, but I’m sick to death of people [name]IRL[/name] suggesting I give my daughter a middle name like [name]Ann[/name] even after I tell them no.]

Made up names like [name]Nevaeh[/name], and all those bell-tone made up names that rhyme with [name]Aiden[/name] or [name]Haley[/name].

Names that read like the parents got the idea from watching porn or their local strip joint like [name]Bliss[/name], [name]Cherry[/name], [name]Lexi[/name], [name]Destiny[/name], etc.

Alcohol names: [name]Brandy[/name], [name]Chardonnay[/name], etc.

Car names: [name]Camry[/name]. [name]Mercedes[/name], [name]Lexus[/name], etc… At least one girl I knew had a more unusual car name [though one I’d never give a child] Viper.

On another note with regards to googling names, it’s not that hard, I don’t know why more parents don’t do it before they name their kid if they are keen on him or her having a unusual name. I was amused/pleased that one of the top name combos I am considering, the last person in the USA to have it was born in 1885. The other name combo apparently only two people in the US living today have it. That’s more than good enough. But still to have first name that no one else has in the whole state? It’s possible but you’d have to go for a really far out there name.

I do not like… Ugh! = [name]Imogen[/name], [name]Cora[/name], [name]Anais[/name], [name]Edna[/name], [name]Florence[/name], [name]Hazel[/name], [name]Hedwig[/name], [name]Beatrice[/name], [name]Beulah[/name], [name]Mordecai[/name], Ebonezer, and what is…[name]Bloodrayne[/name] (are ya kidd’n me???).

[name]Nevaeh[/name]… Yuuuuuck!

I don’t really mind the actual names so much as how they’re being spelled. Some of them are a little tired, but when I see little [name]Bella[/name], it doesn’t faze me so much. I’m a soccer coach and I have girls on my team with wonderful names, then we have [name]Jaelynn[/name] and [name]Ryleigh[/name]. Girl from my high school has a [name]Baileigh[/name].

And I can’t stand not having an “a” in [name]Mackenzie[/name]. I understand it’s a surname, but if you want to make it a child’s first name please add the vowel.

I don’t care for the older names like [name]Ingrid[/name], [name]Henrietta[/name], [name]Beulah[/name], or [name]Cora[/name] for girls. They remind me of hulky old women. For boys I don’t care for [name]Henry[/name], [name]Gerald[/name], [name]Walter[/name] or [name]Julius[/name]. I think they tend to have the gawky label attached.

I agree about names like [name]Peyton[/name], [name]Kinley[/name], [name]Tinsley[/name], [name]Jaylynn[/name], [name]Rylee[/name] (although [name]Riley[/name] for a boy is not so bad), [name]Aubree[/name], [name]Shayla[/name]/[name]Kayla[/name], [name]Hadley[/name], [name]Brinley[/name], [name]Mylie[/name], etc. They don’t have any substance to them and they make me cringe.

I also cannot stand some of the Nameberry favorites: [name]Alice[/name], [name]Penelope[/name], [name]Beatrice[/name], [name]Imogen[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name] (especially with the nn [name]Lottie[/name]) for girls. Some of the boys names I dislike include [name]Joshua[/name], [name]Lucas[/name] (the worst!!!), [name]Edward[/name], [name]Julius[/name], [name]Hayden[/name], [name]Simon[/name], [name]Brooks[/name]…just to name a few.

[name]Ava[/name], [name]Amelia[/name], [name]Olivia[/name] and [name]Lily[/name] are the ones I cannot stand hearing anymore. Nice enough names but so common!

[name]Emily[/name] and [name]Hannah[/name] are two names I’ve always disliked.

I hate hearing that babies are now being named [name]Olive[/name], [name]Mabel[/name], [name]Agnes[/name], [name]Marion[/name], [name]Miriam[/name], [name]Dorothy[/name], [name]Louise[/name], [name]Ethel[/name], [name]Edith[/name], [name]Penelope[/name], [name]Pearl[/name], and [name]Hazel[/name]! Sorry, but yuck! I also cringe whenever I hear of another [name]Jadyn[/name]/[name]Caden[/name]/[name]Braydon[/name] etc. And there are way too many girls named [name]Sophia[/name]/[name]Sofia[/name], [name]Stella[/name], [name]Isabella[/name], [name]Ella[/name], and [name]Jessica[/name]. For a while, there were so many babies being named [name]Christian[/name], [name]Brianna[/name], [name]Justin[/name], and [name]Madison[/name], so those got on my nerves. Also not a fan of all the [name]Caylee[/name]/[name]Haylee[/name] names. Really dislike [name]Brooklyn[/name] or [name]Paris[/name] or [name]Story[/name] on a boy, and [name]Brody[/name] or any -son names on a girl. [name]Embry[/name] makes me think of embryo, [name]Blue[/name] is just dumb, and [name]Lola[/name] has floozy connotations, [name]IMO[/name]! Last but not least, [name]Esme[/name] sounds sort of ridiculous…sorry!

I don’t hate it, but I am definitely tired of hearing [name]Ella[/name]/[name]Ellie[/name]

[name]Isabella[/name] - I’m so over it.

[name]Amelia[/name] - I’ve never liked it.

[name]Olivia[/name] - over this one too.

I dislike very popular names so I’m sick to death of [name]Lily[/name], [name]Olivia[/name], [name]Isabella[/name], [name]Sophia[/name], [name]Ava[/name], [name]Grace[/name], [name]Jack[/name], [name]Alfie[/name], [name]Archie[/name], etc. They are perfectly nice names, I’m just bored of hearing them.
I also don’t like plain sounding or harsh sounding names - ones that immediately spring to mind are: [name]Edith[/name], [name]Gertrude[/name], [name]Ethel[/name], [name]Mabel[/name], [name]Karen[/name], [name]Claire[/name], [name]Jane[/name], [name]Molly[/name], [name]Lucy[/name], [name]Anne[/name], [name]Anya[/name], [name]Andrew[/name], [name]James[/name], [name]Philip[/name].
And then there are names that I just don’t like the general sound of - my sister LOVES the name [name]Reuben[/name] for if she ever has a son but I just hate the sound of it, and I hate the sound of the name [name]Macy[/name] too.
No offense to anybody with these names though, its just personal preference

[name]Hope[/name] you’re not lumping "[name]Kinsey[/name]’’ with the made-up K names. It’s a family surname used as a first name for girls in our family, and as a mn for boys.

I can’t stand [name]Sydney[/name], [name]Kennedy[/name], [name]Madison[/name] and [name]Mackenzie[/name]. Also, a few varitions of those names.

As for boys, I’ve never liked [name]Brody[/name], [name]Sebastian[/name] or [name]Wyatt[/name]

I have no problem with common names that are actually pretty/attractive, like [name]Lily[/name] or [name]Emma[/name] or [name]Isabella[/name]. I really dislike [name]Ella[/name] for some reason, and respelling anything to make it more feminine ([name]Emersyn[/name] and [name]Addisyn[/name] hurt my eyes, for example). And i’m really not a fan of surnames-as-first-names at all.

I have three names that I can’t stand: [name]Jessica[/name], [name]Linda[/name], and [name]Debbie[/name]. [name]Every[/name] woman I’ve ever known with these names has been a complete cow and itstotally ruined them for me. I also don’t like clunky, old, grandma names such as [name]Edith[/name], [name]Agatha[/name], [name]Mildred[/name], [name]Gertrude[/name], [name]Mabel[/name], and [name]Agnes[/name]. I don’t undersand why in God’s name someone would stick any of those names (or others that are similar) on a child!!!

I think this and [name]Mckenzie[/name] are the only names I actually hate. I’ve hated them since I was really little.
