I’ve spent days trying to find a name I like that will stick, but so far everything has fallen into the category of “the vibes are right and I wish this one was standing out, but it isn’t.”
She’s an elf / fae-esque creature: white hair, light skin with ceremonial tattoos on her wrists, collarbones, and abdomen, pointed ears. She’s the personal guard of a very important woman. She’s usually pretty quiet but she has a very sharp tongue behind her teeth. She’ll sometimes say something she doesn’t even believe simply to get a reaction out of someone. She’s dutiful but has yet to fully control her temper, particularly when it comes to someone offending or degrading the woman she protects. She’s almost never at a loss for words and can be chilly when angry or upset.
In the story, she’s taken a wound from a cursed dagger that requires her to seek healing far from home. She’s–for the first time since she began serving her lady–weak and unable to really perform her duties. She isn’t handling it well.
Some of the names I’ve considered are: Kore, Luneth, Tinuviel, Sidra, Vespertine
Sidra I’m on the fence on. I really do like it but I’m not quite sure it’s exactly right…and I really like Vespertine but I’m worried it’ll sound out of touch with the other names in the book. I’m willing to hear arguments if people think they’d work.
Names In the Book Already: Tamerlane (love interest), Mornos, Helleborus “Hellebore,” Arcturus, Yarrow, Lucina, Nyssara, Morrowvale, Chrysanthos

[name_m]You[/name_m] are using such cool names! I like the sharp sounds in [name_f]Sidra[/name_f] and [name_f]Vespertine[/name_f] for your bodyguard elf. I went with that sibilant sound and searched names ending in ‘is’ ~

@Victory55 [name_f]Oona[/name_f] is such a good name! I might have to use this one for my side character list, because I still have several to name.
@atomicginge I absolutely love [name_m]Sariel[/name_m] and [name_f]Silene[/name_f]. [name_m]Kestrel[/name_m] would be great if I didn’t already have a main character named [name_m]Kestrel[/name_m] in another book. [name_f]Vesperia[/name_f] is definitely going on my “future MCs list”; it doesn’t totally fit for this character but I’d love to use it in a future project.
@EdgeOfTheMeadow these names are so good! [name_f]Elestren[/name_f] would be a great name for one of my side characters (who’ll be a main character in the spin-off idea I have). I really like [name_f]Lillis[/name_f], too.
This is definitely giving me a lot to mull over.
