My husband and I have scrapped our name list, and upon starting over, we found the name [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] - we both really love it and think it might be the name for our baby girl, but the spelling is throwing me off. I don’t like the i on the end, but I’m worried that giving it a “unique” spelling would throw the whole name off.
We do like the idea of being able to call her Nao and even [name_f]Nan[/name_f] as a kid, and [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] sounds like a name she can grow into as an adult.
So now we’ve moved onto figuring out her middle name, but we have no idea where to start. Any ideas are appreciated!
I love [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] and don’t like it spelled any other way, and don’t like the shortened versions you suggested. It’s a beautiful name as is and would work on someone of any age.
Oh gosh, thank you all so much! I really like [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] and [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f].
Now, I’m gonna have to throw a monkey wrench into this whole thing - we were looking through our genealogical research for my husband’s family last night, and we came across what I think is THE name - [name_f]Greer[/name_f]. I’ve done some digging around and seen that a lot of people don’t care for the name, but when I think about it for my kiddo, it feels perfect.
[name_m]How[/name_m] does [name_f]Greer[/name_f] [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] sound? Our last name starts with an O and has three syllables. We’re also considering giving her a different first name with [name_f]Greer[/name_f] as the middle, like [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] [name_f]Greer[/name_f], and having her go by [name_f]Greer[/name_f] if she chooses. Either way, [name_f]Greer[/name_f] is going in there.
So, if you guys have any other suggestions for middle names/first names with [name_f]Greer[/name_f] in the mix, let me know! I’m having a hard time because [name_f]Greer[/name_f] is such a strong name on its own.
[name_f]Greer[/name_f] has been on my name list since I was 16 — I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] it. And I know one little [name_f]Greer[/name_f], sister to a [name_f]Kate[/name_f] and [name_f]Claire[/name_f].
My DH won’t consider it otherwise I would be using it, myself.
Maybe I’m trying to live vicariously through you, but go with [name_f]Greer[/name_f]!
[name_f]Naomi[/name_f] [name_f]Greer[/name_f] works. The other way doesn’t have perfect flow but that’s ok, and it is great too. [name_u]Love[/name_u] it!!
