[name_f]LOVE[/name_f] this name, but conflicted on pronunciation. I love how it sounds when its spelled [name_f]Niomi[/name_f] (n-IY-omi) but love how it looks when spelled [name_f]Naomi[/name_f]. I’ve thought about the spelling Naiomi but unsure how I feel about it any suggestions or comments?
The only [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] I know spells it like this, but pronounces it “ny-omi,” so that’s the spelling I would use. [name_f]Niomi[/name_f] actually makes me want to say “nee-omi.”
I hate the [name_f]Niomi[/name_f] spelling, and I know a [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] who pronounces it both Nay-o-mi and Ny-o-mi so you’re fine if you instill it in your family and friends that her name is [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] (nyomi) they won’t mispronounce it.
I’ve never seen the [name_f]Niomi[/name_f] spelling before, and it just doesn’t look right to me. I think [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] pronounced ny-o-mi is perfectly fine. I’ve known of Naomis with both the ny-o-mi pronunciation and the nay-oh-mi pronunciation, and neither seems wrong to me.
I wonder if you might like [name_f]Niobe[/name_f]?
I pronounce [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] as ny-oh-mi as much as I do nay-oh-mi.
The sounds [name_m]NYE[/name_m] and NAY are pretty similar; none of the [name_f]Naomi[/name_f]'s I know even have a preference and go by both. I say both too, depending… the NAY version seems softer and easier in speech for some reason though.
I wouldn’t use a silly spelling just because it looks more like the pn you prefer when the original can be said exactly the same way.
Definitely [name_f]Naomi[/name_f]. A beautiful name that means beautiful too
[name_f]Naomi[/name_f] has two pronunciations, and either is fine. It’s a beautiful name and looks balanced. The other one doesn’t!
I have a cousin named [name_f]Naomi[/name_f]. She pronounces it nay-oh-mee. That’s the only pronunciation I’ve ever heard [name_m]IRL[/name_m], too. [name_m]Nye[/name_m]-oh-me doesn’t make sense phonetically, [name_f]IMO[/name_f] (for [name_f]Naomi[/name_f]). I prefer [name_f]Naomi[/name_f].
[name_f]Naomi[/name_f]. [name_f]Niomi[/name_f] doesn’t look right to me.
I know a girl named [name_f]Naomi[/name_f]. People call her both ay- and iy- omi and she never says anything about it. I call her nAYomi but I don’t even know what her parents pronounce it as.
