[name]One[/name] of my pet peeves is seeing C and K names together, so I had to vote for a name beginning with K.

[name]Kallie[/name] is a nickname, while [name]Karli[/name] looks child-ish and should be [name]Carley[/name] or at least [name]Karley[/name] but I hate that trend of taking C names and spelling them with a K.

[name]Kaya[/name] looks complete, and the best to me - pronounced as [name]Kay[/name]-uh, the first syllable rhyming with [name]Say[/name], [name]May[/name] etc.

[name]Kaya[/name] [name]Jane[/name] [name]Cleveland[/name]
[name]Kaya[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] [name]Cleveland[/name]
[name]Kaya[/name] [name]Imogen[/name] [name]Cleveland[/name]
[name]Kaya[/name] [name]Elisabeth[/name] [name]Cleveland[/name]
[name]Kaya[/name] [name]Therese[/name] [name]Cleveland[/name]
[name]Kaya[/name] [name]Vivienne[/name] [name]Cleveland[/name]
[name]Kaya[/name] [name]Isabelle[/name] [name]Cleveland[/name]

I would vote for [name]Kaya[/name], except that I don’t know how you’re saying it. I don’t say it like the person above me so…how did the two of you say it when you discussed it?

I also voted for [name]Kaya[/name] - it’s by FAR the best out of these options! Some middle name ideas:

[name]Kaya[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Kaya[/name] [name]Hope[/name]
[name]Kaya[/name] [name]Jessica[/name]
[name]Kaya[/name] [name]Laurel[/name]
[name]Kaya[/name] [name]Marguerite[/name]

Good luck.

Neuilly, [name]Kaya[/name] would be [name]Kay[/name] rhyming with “say” with the ending “a” saying uh. My husband’s grandmother used [name]Kay[/name] as a nickname for [name]Katherine[/name], so my husband liked it said that way.

[name]Kallie[/name], [name]Kaya[/name] and [name]Karli[/name] are boring and I don’t like substituting C for K.

Calise is unique and has a similar feel to [name]Karisa[/name]. I’m assuming you’re pronouncing it “cuh-lease”. The original Arabic name is Khalis (boy) so if you want K names you could use Khalise

[name]Do[/name] you want the MN to match?
R names: [name]Rene[/name], [name]Rochelle[/name], [name]Roxanna[/name], [name]Rhiannon[/name], [name]Roselyn[/name], [name]Ramona[/name]
Nature names: [name]Winter[/name], [name]Magnolia[/name], [name]Estella[/name], [name]Acacia[/name], [name]Iris[/name], [name]Azalea[/name], [name]Eden[/name], [name]Autumn[/name]

Right, nat108…cah-lease. I could find a “k” alternative to that name that actually had a meaning…not even the one you mentioned. Is there a meaning that you know of. Instead of Arabic, I was going for the meaning that came from Old Greek: gorgeous. I thought of it because we had originally liked [name]Kali[/name] until we found out it was a Hindu goddess of destruction. [name]Kallie[/name] is the only “[name]Callie[/name]” name that didn’t start with a “C” and didn’t carry that connotation that I could find. Any help is appreciated.

[name]Kaya[/name] [name]Noelle[/name] [name]Cleveland[/name]
[name]Kaya[/name] [name]Violet[/name] [name]Cleveland[/name]
[name]Kaya[/name] [name]Melody[/name] [name]Cleveland[/name]
[name]Kaya[/name] [name]Bethany[/name] [name]Cleveland[/name]
[name]Kaya[/name] [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Cleveland[/name]
[name]Kaya[/name] [name]Celeste[/name] [name]Cleveland[/name]
[name]Kaya[/name] [name]Bryony[/name] [name]Cleveland[/name]
[name]Kaya[/name] Devony [name]Cleveland[/name]

I think [name]Karlie[/name] and Calise are far too similar to [name]Karisa[/name], and [name]Kallie[/name] is more of a nickname imo. So I’d go for [name]Kaya[/name] myself.

[name]Karisa[/name] [name]Rose[/name] [name]Cleveland[/name] & [name]Kaya[/name] [name]Grace[/name] [name]Cleveland[/name]
[name]Karisa[/name] [name]Rose[/name] [name]Cleveland[/name] & [name]Kaya[/name] [name]Noelle[/name] [name]Cleveland[/name]
[name]Karisa[/name] [name]Rose[/name] [name]Cleveland[/name] & [name]Kaya[/name] [name]Isobel[/name] [name]Cleveland[/name]
[name]Karisa[/name] [name]Rose[/name] [name]Cleveland[/name] & [name]Kaya[/name] [name]Violet[/name] [name]Cleveland[/name]
[name]Karisa[/name] [name]Rose[/name] [name]Cleveland[/name] & [name]Kaya[/name] [name]Alice[/name] [name]Cleveland[/name]
[name]Karisa[/name] [name]Rose[/name] [name]Cleveland[/name] & [name]Kaya[/name] [name]Olive[/name] [name]Cleveland[/name]

Lots of name suggestions for [name]Kaya[/name]…Got any for Calise (Cah-lease)?

[name]Love[/name] [name]Kaya[/name]! That got my vote completely, although I prefer the [name]Kaia[/name] spelling. I really like [name]Kaia[/name] [name]Elisabeth[/name]… what about:

[name]Kaya[/name] [name]Grace[/name]
[name]Kaya[/name] [name]Sophie[/name]
[name]Kaya[/name] [name]Lillian[/name]/[name]Kaya[/name] [name]Liliana[/name]
[name]Kaya[/name] [name]Felicity[/name]
[name]Kaya[/name] [name]Juliet[/name]
[name]Kaya[/name] [name]Annabelle[/name]

Good luck!

My first thought was [name]Kallie[/name] [name]Rose[/name] until I read that was your other daughters mn. Maybe a different flower? [name]Violet[/name], [name]Jasmine[/name], [name]Daphne[/name], [name]Lily[/name], [name]Daisy[/name], [name]Iris[/name].

Khalis means pure
There’s a singer named [name]Kelis[/name], pronounced the same way but it doesn’t have a meaning

I prefer [name]Kali[/name] over [name]Kallie[/name], I knew a little surfer girl named [name]Kali[/name]. It has more than one origin: African- lively, Hawaiian- hesitating, Greek- rosebud

[name]Hawaii[/name] is a good source for K names. I like Keala “kay-aw-la”- path and [name]Kalea[/name] “ca-lee-a” - bright. There’s also [name]Kale[/name] “ca-lay” but it’d be mispronounced

Thank you, nat108. Yes, “[name]Kali[/name]” (pronounced with the short a) is what my husband and I fell in love with before we looked up the meaning and saw that there is Hindu goddess named [name]Kali[/name] (long a) who is the the goddess of destruction. With a meaning like that I felt we would have to change the spelling. The only K spelling of that name that I could find that was still derivative of the Greek meaning was “[name]Kallie[/name].” That is why “[name]Kallie[/name]” made the polling list. I also liked [name]Callia[/name] and was looking for spellings of that. [name]Kalea[/name] is very pretty. I will have to run that one by my husband again. The first name I really liked was [name]Cordelia[/name], but my husband thought too antiquated I guess. I also don’t care for the nickname [name]Cordie[/name] or [name]Cory[/name], so I gave up on that name. I am rather surprised by the polling results because my favorite of those four was Calise, but I think it starting with a “C” hinders people’s response as a sister for [name]Karisa[/name]. I had liked [name]Kaya[/name], but when I see that name I was saying [name]Kya[/name] (long I instead of long A). Then my husband told me he liked that one because his grandma (adoptive Mom’s mom) used [name]Kay[/name] as a nickname and that he liked [name]Kaya[/name]. I am still trying to get that name to stick in my head with the right pronunciation. [name]Kaya[/name] [name]Grace[/name] and [name]Kaya[/name] [name]Jane[/name] are probably my favorite MN suggestions so far for it. [name]Jane[/name] is my Grandmother’s MN and my middle name, [name]Karis[/name], means grace. I still was looking for something a little less plain. I think [name]Kalea[/name] may be a neat option now that I see that spelling. My husband just dislikes the Call beginning of [name]Callie[/name] or [name]Callia[/name] because he thinks of “to call, califlower, calico, etc.” We don’t have to have a K name, but he only liked that name beginning with a K. I have gone back and forth on if the two girls should have the same beginning initials if we go with a k sounding name. I have thought people would never remember which one started with which letter if I named my second daughter with a "C " because [name]Karisa[/name] could start with a C. So, I really would appreciate any other suggestions. You may want to look at my first forum started on the 12th. It was called “Expecting 2nd daughter in 6 weeks: need direction on a name.” Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.

I really like Calise but you’re right about spelling confusion. Since people are more familiar with [name]Carissa[/name], [name]Karisa[/name] would probably get the C. There’s Kelyse but it looks like [name]Kelsey[/name]. I think Kalise is an OK spelling
On the other hand:
I’ve only seen a few episodes of Game of Thrones but apparently Daenerys’ title is Khaleesi (queen) and fans are calling her Calise. So maybe keeping the C would be better

[name]Kalea[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is very pretty but I doubt you want the same MN

I pronounce [name]Kaya[/name] “ky-a” also. [name]Don[/name]'t know how to get “[name]Kay[/name]-a”, [name]Kaia[/name] may still get called “ky-a”. The only “[name]Kay[/name]” name I can think of is [name]Kayla[/name]

Overall I like Calise

Thank you for your suggestions.
