Nearly there - opinion please 🙏🏻

Hi everyone - thank you all so much for your suggestions following a recent post seeking advice about a sister name for Estelle Mae - with the options Amelie, Avelie or Everly. I am now 39 weeks :grimacing: . I keep coming back to Avelie (pronounced: Av-ah-lee). To me it sounds light and feminine. Amelie was the overwhelming vote on the post but with a difficult surname I feel like this could be easily mistaken for Emily and is close to the increasingly popular Amelia.
Now seeking a poll vote for middle names - I’m tied to my grandma who was Lillian/Lily but know this does not go with Avelie at all. Iris because it has meaning to rainbow and this is a rainbow baby for us after a loss last year. What do you think of the following:

  • Avelie Neve
  • Avelie Iris
  • Avelie Lille/Lill (nod to family, one syllable)

Thank you amazing brains trust x

Thank you :two_hearts: it means a lot to be reassured x

Avelie [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is beautiful! Sweet but sharp and meaningful - I like the floral association to [name_f]Lily[/name_f] too  I’m enjoying Avelie today - bright and sweet

A few additional suggestions, but only if you want to take a look:

Avelie Susan/Susette/Susannah/Suzanne - means lily?

Avelie Isobel/Avelie Elizabeth/Avelie Lisbeth/Avelie Elspeth/Avelie Elise/Avelie [name_f]Bethan[/name_f]- [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] was a pet form of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] originally?

Avelie [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] - means life, sounds like [name_u]Lilian[/name_u]

Avelie Maylis - apparently means ‘mother lily’

I voted for Avelie [name_f]Iris[/name_f], its so pretty! I love the way they look visually and [name_f]Iris[/name_f] has a beautiful meanings

i definitely understand your worries with amelie, so i think avelie is a nice option! the more i say it/look at it, the more i like it.

i think a connection to your grandma would be nice - does she have a middle name you could use? or maybe there’s something that would remind you of her, like her favorite flower, bird, color, etc?

out of your options, i chose avelie iris since it flows the nicest and the meaning is sweet.

I had never heard of Avelie but I now love it :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:. I adore the name [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and seeing she is your rainbow baby I think it would be well suited. 🫶🏻 [name_m]Goodluck[/name_m] I hope you deliver a healthy baby:heartpulse:

The only other thing I can think of is the [name_u]French[/name_u] translation to [name_f]Lily[/name_f] - [name_f]Lys[/name_f] (Lee-s)

Avelie [name_f]Lys[/name_f] or Avelie Lis. Not sure.

The only other names connected to her are Beattie, [name_m]Stewart[/name_m] and [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] and I feel they are a little masculine for the soft Avelie sound?…

I have used her married surname (our heirloom name) for our son so tradition is with our eldest so all is not lost if we don’t end up finding a solution. This will be our third :two_hearts:

avelie lys is pretty! i would use this spelling over lis since avelie lis is a little much.

are you open to other lily variations? avelie lilith, avelie lila, avelie lilia, avelie lillium, avelie liana, and avelie liliana are all options.

i see what you mean in terms of beattie, stewart, and hunter… what about beatrice, from beattie? avelie beatrice?
