Need a biblical girls name that will match five boys!

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite Biblical names:

[name_f]Mary[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_f]Leah[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Anna[/name_f]

I second or third or how many times the name has come up, [name_f]Esther[/name_f].
It is such a beautiful, underused gem and fits so wonderfully with your sons’ names!

What a lovely story! And how exciting for you to have a girl!! These are some very beautiful names. Here are my favorites:

[name_f]Miriam[/name_f]
[name_f]Abigail[/name_f] (I don’t think it’s too similar to [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] at all)
[name_f]Esther[/name_f]

And the first one that popped into mind when I saw your sons’ names and your guidelines was [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]. I know it’s not that unusual, but it fits so perfectly with your sons’ names and she’s such a strong, inspiring character.

I also love [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] and it is on my list. I really don’t think people will call her [name_u]Theo[/name_u], especially if you don’t. That never even occurred to me when I added it to my list – I just loved the history of the saint.

Good luck! I can’t wait to hear what you choose!!

[name_u]Abilene[/name_u]
[name_f]Deborah[/name_f] or [name_f]Devorah[/name_f]
[name_f]Judith[/name_f]
[name_f]Junia[/name_f]
[name_u]Elisha[/name_u]
Shiphrah
[name_f]Tamar[/name_f]

I like the suggestion of [name_f]Junia[/name_f].

I wouldn’t do [name_u]Elisha[/name_u] though. Not for a girl.

Congrats on your first daughter! Yay! I just adore your boys’ names. All just perfect; such a winning sibset!

I must say, I just [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the suggestion of [name_f]Eve[/name_f]! I think it’s absolutely perfect. Short but absolutely strong and beautiful. Great meaning. iI have often thought of [name_f]Eve[/name_f] as the “crescendo of Creation” and perhaps you feel that same way about this baby? (Especially if she will be your last?) I just love it for you. Feminine and obviously biblical, but not an overused choice.

I also love [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] for you. Also short, lovely, and with a sweet meaning.

[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], [name_f]Susanna[/name_f], [name_f]Miriam[/name_f], and [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] would all be fabulous choices as well, [name_f]IMO[/name_f]! Good luck!

Oh, and [name_f]Esther[/name_f] and [name_f]Jemima[/name_f] too! And [name_f]Esme[/name_f] if you’re open to it!

[name_f]My[/name_f] first thought was also [name_f]Esther[/name_f].

[name_f]Miriam[/name_f]

[name_f]Abigail[/name_f]

Congratulations!!

[name_u]Love[/name_u] your boys names and all the names being tossed around here! [name_f]My[/name_f] first thought was [name_f]Lydia[/name_f], but I also love [name_f]Esther[/name_f], [name_f]Eve[/name_f] and [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]. ([name_f]Esther[/name_f] and [name_f]Eve[/name_f] - are you ok with your daughter’s name starting with the same letter as one of her brothers?) I don’t think [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] is at all close to [name_m]Atticus[/name_m], two names that start with A and are 3 syllables, but they sound totally different.

Also, [name_u]Yael[/name_u]/[name_u]Jael[/name_u] is my cousin’s MN. We’re Jewish. We pronounce it [name_u]Yael[/name_u] like [name_u]Yale[/name_u] (the American college) not Ya-elle. [name_u]Yael[/name_u] is 1 syllable. IDK about [name_u]Jael[/name_u], but I assume it’s the same as [name_u]Yael[/name_u].

[name_u]Yael[/name_u] isn’t one syllable in Hebrew and it’s pronounced with 2 syllables by all the Yaels I know and I’ve known several. I’m also Jewish. You can say it how you want but I don’t know where a flat “it’s one syllable” comes from? It’s clearly 2 in Hebrew. יָעֵל

I’ve heard Christians say Jael jay-el though but that’s too much like “jail” for me.

[name_f]Esther[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarai[/name_f]
[name_f]Moriah[/name_f]
[name_f]Naomi[/name_f]

For those people suggesting [name_u]Elisha[/name_u] as Biblical girls name- you’re incorrect. [name_u]Elisha[/name_u] is Biblical BOYS name, pronounced ee-lye-sha.
[name_u]Elisha[/name_u] was one of the most respected prophets in the old testament, and was [name_m]Elijah[/name_m]'s apprentice.

Some GIRLS names:
[name_f]Hannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Abigail[/name_f]
[name_f]Esther[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Rebekah[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f]
[name_f]Leah[/name_f]

What about [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u]?

I really like [name_f]Hannah[/name_f], [name_f]Eve[/name_f], and [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] too

With your kids’ names I really like [name_f]Sarai[/name_f], [name_f]Deborah[/name_f], [name_f]Esther[/name_f], or [name_f]Ruth[/name_f].

Best of luck!

[name_m]Atticus[/name_m] and [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] are terrific, but only [name_m]Bartholomew[/name_m], [name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m] and [name_m]Judah[/name_m] (also terrific) are biblical.

[name_f]Ava[/name_f]! A variant of [name_f]EVE[/name_f], the first woman of the Bible’s creation story! Perfection.

Since [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] and [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] aren’t Biblical names, would you be open to another ancient saints name?

[name_f]Theodora[/name_f] (“god’s gift”)

I have a friend their daughter is [name_f]Keziah[/name_f]!
