We are expecting twin girls. We are pretty set on [name]Greer[/name] for one. I kept thinking I wanted to use [name]Eliza[/name] for a girls name, but that was when I thought I was having boy/girl twins. Now I am backing off of it… I don’t think it goes all that well with [name]Greer[/name] stylistically, and I’m just not sure. Some names that I like I have listed but am totally open to suggestions on what would be a good, non-matchy twinset. Let me know what you think. Thanks!
[name]Blythe[/name] - not my style but it does go quite well with [name]Greer[/name]
[name]Bronwen[/name] - again not my style
[name]Tabitha[/name] - I adore this! Wouldn’t put it with [name]Greer[/name] though
[name]Margot[/name] - beautiful beautiful name that pairs well with [name]Greer[/name] with the common G
[name]Ingrid[/name] - see above!
[name]Marit[/name] - how do you pronounce this? Is it a silent t?
[name]Lisette[/name] - too fussy and weak sounding o pair with the strong [name]Greer[/name] in my opinion
[name]Beatrix/name - I like both but [name]Beatrice[/name] seems to pair better with [name]Greer[/name] for me
[name]Eliza[/name] - cute name but I agree with you that it’s not the best with [name]Greer[/name]. Sounds a little too upbeat and cute whereas [name]Greer[/name] has a more sophisticated sound to me.
So of your choices I like:
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Margot[/name]
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Ingrid[/name]
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Beatrice[/name]
Other ideas for you:
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Audrey[/name]
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Fiona[/name]
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Sophie[/name]
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Martha[/name]
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Etta[/name]
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Ava[/name]
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Eleri[/name]
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Rowan[/name] ([name]Just[/name] realised [name]Brooke[/name] Shields daughters are [name]Grier[/name] and [name]Rowan[/name]!)
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Camille[/name]
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Celeste[/name]
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Giselle[/name] (same letter but different sounds)
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Aurora[/name]
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Bridgit[/name]
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Cordelia[/name]
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Louisa[/name]
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Agnes[/name]
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Mabel[/name]
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Ramona[/name]
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Zadie[/name]
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Ailsa[/name]
Congrats on the twins…I really like [name]Eliza[/name], and to be honest, although it may not “match stylistically” with [name]Greer[/name], I think the 2 names go very well together! [name]Both[/name] names are spunky, fresh names for girls. However, [name]Greer[/name] is a Scottish name, so if you want a name to go with it, I would go with [name]Blythe[/name] or [name]Bronwen[/name]. You could have [name]Eliza[/name] be a middle name!
[name]Greer[/name] [name]Beatrice[/name] and [name]Blythe[/name] [name]Eliza[/name]
[name]Greer[/name] [name]Eliza[/name] and [name]Bronwen[/name] [name]Beatrice[/name]
But I do really like [name]Greer[/name] and [name]Eliza[/name] together.
Congratulations on your twin girls! I’m a twin, too, and I love helping with the twin names on NB. I think [name]Greer[/name] is a great choice, and as much as I love the name [name]Eliza[/name], I don’t think it matches [name]Greer[/name] stylistically at all, really. Have you considered [name]Greer[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] as a name instead? Here are some names you might like for [name]Greer[/name]'s sister:
[name]Bevin[/name]
[name]Blair[/name] - Probably too close in sound to [name]Greer[/name], honestly…
[name]Cameron[/name]
[name]Elspeth[/name]
[name]Finley[/name]
[name]Isla[/name]
[name]Isobel[/name]
[name]Paisley[/name]
[name]Rory[/name]
[name]Rowan[/name] - A little too [name]Brooke[/name] Shields, though!
[name]Skye[/name]
Personally, I wouldn’t go with anything too frilly or feminine with [name]Greer[/name], which is why I left [name]Fiona[/name] off the list and might not recommend [name]Isla[/name] as strongly. [name]Greer[/name] is a name with great substance and strength, and I think you want to capture that in her twin’s name, too. Does anything stand out to you?
I really like [name]Greer[/name] - it makes me think of [name]Greer[/name] [name]Garson[/name]. [name]Eliza[/name] is nice, but not a favorite . . . to me, it just doesn’t sound pretty/elegant - maybe because it reminds me of [name]Eliza[/name] Doolittle and cockney slang?
With [name]Greer[/name], if you want to have another Hollywood/actressy name, you could use something like:
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Eliza[/name] do not seem ‘off’ to me, however I have a personal preference (and it is only that) for some of the other options on your list:
[name]Blythe[/name]: One of my favourite names, goes PERFECTLY with [name]Greer[/name]. You may also like [name]Paige[/name] or [name]Faye[/name], both of which remind me of [name]Blythe[/name].
[name]Margot[/name]: I really like this one with [name]Greer[/name] because of the common ‘g’ sounds, makes [name]Greer[/name] a bit more vintage-y.
[name]Lisette[/name]: takes [name]Greer[/name] to a more whimsical place, I like it very much. You may also like [name]Liesl[/name]
[name]Beatrix[/name]: I would choose [name]Beatrix[/name] over [name]Beatrice[/name] every time - it’s spunkier and more lively, in my opinion. It makes [name]Greer[/name] more whimsical, like [name]Lisette[/name], but also more playful, which is always a good thing in my books.
I know a [name]Greer[/name] who has a sister named [name]Campbell[/name]. Maybe you would like that? I like unisex names to go along with [name]Greer[/name]. Nothing too frilly to overshadow [name]Greer[/name]. I also like suggestion of [name]Finley[/name]. I like [name]Avery[/name] too.
From your list, I think [name]Greer[/name] and [name]Bronwen[/name]/[name]Bronwyn[/name] are the best together. I also love the suggestion of [name]Rory[/name].
I love [name]Greer[/name]! I think I like [name]Blythe[/name] of your options best; [name]Margot[/name] second. I think [name]Ingrid[/name] goes very nicely but I don’t like the repeated ‘gr’ together - if this doesn’t bother you, I think it’s a good choice. Some others:
[name]Blair[/name]
[name]Wynne[/name]
[name]Teagan[/name]
[name]Sage[/name]
Actually, the more I think of it, the more I’m leaning toward [name]Margot[/name]!
Thanks for the replies! I too like [name]Blythe[/name] but I think it’s out because my husband is not a fan.
ljandrl- Funny you mention [name]Etta[/name]! It’s one of those strange names that has been coming to me lately and I don’t where it came from but I like it!
lemon- If we don’t go with [name]Eliza[/name], one of the full names will for sure be [name]Greer[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]. I love it. I don’t know the name [name]Bevin[/name]! Interesting.
I do like [name]Rowan[/name] but definitely can’t do it knowing that [name]Brooke[/name] Shield’s daughters have that. I just can’t do the celebrity baby name thing.
Some of you mentioned [name]Blair[/name], [name]Bridgit[/name], [name]Louisa[/name], [name]Finley[/name], [name]Tess[/name] - all names from my long list. And one even mentioned [name]Meredith[/name], which is my name! So I like it but it’s not an option for a first name.
I too agree that we can’t have a really frilly girly name with [name]Greer[/name]. It just wouldn’t be right on a few levels. Also, we have a strong Norwegian last name and the romantic, frilly names sound bad with our last name. We have a long car ride coming up this weekend… so I know we’ll be discussing names. My husband doesn’t like to give suggestions as much as he likes to veto mine. So I need to come prepared!
I know what you mean, I’m having the exact same thing with [name]Etta[/name]!
I just woke up thinking about it one morning a few months ago and then since then can’t get it out of my head.
I think its beautiful especially with [name]Etta[/name] [name]James[/name] as a name sake.
If you do decide on [name]Greer[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] (which I love!) I think [name]Etta[/name] [name]Georgiana[/name] would be beautiful. It might be too matchy matchy for some people to have reversed initals but I think it’s cute in a subtler way!
[name]Greer[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] is perfect, I think you should definitely go with that for one twin. For the other twin, I think [name]Ingrid[/name], [name]Margo/name, [name]Bronwen[/name] and [name]Blythe[/name] go brilliantly well.
[name]Greer[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] is beautiful, and I think [name]Tess[/name] or [name]Brigid[/name] (love this spelling!) would be great off that list for her sister. Good luck!
This might be going in the wrong direction, but how about [name]Maud[/name]?
I think it’s perfect with [name]Greer[/name].
Others I like with [name]Greer[/name] that haven’t been mentioned yet:
[name]Alma[/name]
[name]Audra[/name]
Edme/Edm”e
[name]Flora[/name]
[name]Joya[/name]
[name]Liesel[/name]
[name]Mabel[/name]
[name]Merle[/name]
[name]Meryl[/name]
[name]Mora[/name]/[name]Maura[/name]
[name]Orla[/name]
[name]Sorcha[/name]
[name]Tilda[/name]
I could see [name]Greer[/name] and [name]Tess/name together.
Others I like:
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Harper[/name]
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Brynn[/name]
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Brenna[/name]
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Iris[/name]
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Alice[/name]- vintage but without being frilly
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Elle[/name]
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Della[/name]
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Willa[/name]
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Sadie[/name]
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Maeve[/name]
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Bridget[/name]
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Beatrix[/name]
[name]Greer[/name] and [name]Kate[/name]
I love [name]Greer[/name], but agree it’s a tough one to match. I think it would pair best with a modern-sounding unisex kind of name, rather than an ultra-traditional one.
P.S. If you’re interested in matches based on meaning, I’d suggest [name]Casey[/name], (maybe [name]Cayce[/name], pronounced “case”) which, like [name]Greer[/name], means “alert, watchful.”
I really like [name]Elizabeth[/name] as a mn for [name]Greer[/name]. The first name that came to mind for [name]Greer[/name]‘s sister is [name]Sloane[/name], which to me has the same modern, unisex, preppy style. But personally I prefer others’ suggestions of [name]Etta[/name], [name]Auden[/name], [name]Quinn[/name], and [name]Harper[/name]. Good luck!
