I am naming my son (due in [name_f]July[/name_f]) after my brother who passed away, [name_m]Scott[/name_m].
It is a classic name, and I named my brother when he was born, but I always thought I would name my child something truly unique, but I am proud to have him carry on my brothers name and legacy. Only when I got pregnant did I realize my husband is very opinionated about names, and though he is also honoured to name him [name_m]Scott[/name_m], he wants to choose the middle. The only problem is he can’t come up with any!!! SO I gave him list that I sort of like. I am hoping Berries can help us decide, or suggest new ones?? I am definitely looking for any names with a short O sound (as in the pot, or rock sound), as I am especially interested in a double barrelled name to distinguish referring to my brother or my son.
Names my husband sorta likes (that I sorta like too):
[name_m]Scott[/name_m] Koa
[name_m]Scott[/name_m] [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]
[name_m]Scott[/name_m] [name_m]Caius[/name_m]
Names I love that he has vetoed:
[name_m]Scott[/name_m] [name_m]Luke[/name_m] (my husbands name)
[name_m]Scott[/name_m] [name_m]Knox[/name_m]
[name_m]Scott[/name_m] [name_m]Ryder[/name_m]
Our last name is Lazzari. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband is also a surfer so names around that are a plus! Meaning does play a pretty moderate to large part, so points for a name with a positive meaning.
HELP! We are 5 weeks away!!!
I’m surprised you said you are looking for names with a short O as in pot or rock? I was thinking that [name_m]Scott[/name_m] [name_m]Knox[/name_m] did not work for that reason. Is there a reason you want the same vowel sound as in [name_m]Scott[/name_m]?
Of the choices listed, I like [name_m]Scott[/name_m] [name_m]Caius[/name_m] and [name_m]Scott[/name_m] [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] best. Dont have much surfing/ocean related, but here are some with nice meanings. Was going to mention [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m], but might not work with last name.
[name_m]Scott[/name_m] [name_m]Caius[/name_m], [name_m]Scott[/name_m] [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] & [name_m]Scott[/name_m] [name_m]Ryder[/name_m] are all great. I think it sounds better with a name in the middle that is longer than one syllable.
Honestly, I was immediately drawn to [name_m]Scott[/name_m] Koa. It sounds very surfer and the middle (though I was not immediately familiar with it – had to do some googling) seems perfect. Apparently it’s a common wood used in surfboards. I think you’ve got a winner there.
Congratulations on your pregnancy! It’s wonderful that you can use your brother’s name. [name_m]Scott[/name_m] is a solid name.
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorites so far are [name_m]Scott[/name_m] Koa and [name_m]Scott[/name_m] [name_u]Dylan[/name_u]. They both sound so cool and have surfing/water-related meanings.
[name_m]Scott[/name_m] [name_u]Calder[/name_u]- means “rocky water”
[name_m]Scott[/name_m] [name_m]Banks[/name_m]- as in, the sea floor
[name_m]Scott[/name_m] [name_u]Noah[/name_u]- an obvious water-reference… and it sounds like [name_m]Scott[/name_m] Koa
[name_m]Scott[/name_m] [name_u]Douglas[/name_u]- “black water”
[name_m]Scott[/name_m] [name_m]Kano[/name_m]- “the god of the waters”
[name_m]Scott[/name_m] [name_m]Hurley[/name_m]- “sea tide”
[name_m]Scott[/name_m] [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m]- “floodtide, abundance, prosperity”
I think [name_m]Scott[/name_m] sounds best with middle names with 2-3 syllables. Good luck!
