Need a name by February!

My baby girl is due February 9th, and for numerous reasons it has taken me this long to start seriously considering names, so I’m starting to get a bit anxious. My other half is insisting they know nothing about naming, and since I’m the one who thinks it will be fun it looks like it’s up to me to start coming up with a list!

But I have no idea what I’m doing here, or where to really start. I have some names that I like, but none of them are 100% right and I want to have lots to choose from, so any suggestions would be great. The last name will be either [name]Hollis[/name] or [name]Hollis[/name]-[name]Taylor[/name] / [name]Taylor[/name]-[name]Hollis[/name] and I want to middle name to be after one of my parents, who are [name]Maria[/name] and [name]Jack[/name] [name]Arthur[/name]. We might use two middle names, it’s undecided at the moment. I live in the UK and I don’t really want anything that’s too common.

So the names I like right now arem in no particular order:

[name]Neva[/name]
Rosalita
[name]Oceana[/name]
[name]Juniper[/name]
[name]Clover[/name]
[name]Calla[/name]
[name]Azalea[/name]
Eirlys
[name]Coralina[/name]
[name]Magnolia[/name]
[name]Primrose[/name]
[name]Columbine[/name]
[name]Decima[/name]
[name]Mauve[/name]
[name]Azura[/name]
[name]Sage[/name]
[name]Valentina[/name]
[name]Daisy[/name]

Thanks in advance for any help!

Edited to add: The following names and anything really similar to them are off limits as first names: [name]Elena[/name], [name]Gisela[/name], [name]Giulia[/name], [name]Nicolas[/name], [name]Elliott[/name], [name]Victor[/name], [name]Mart[/name]ín, [name]Charlie[/name], [name]Alex[/name], [name]Lucy[/name], [name]Pearl[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Leonie[/name], [name]Jacob[/name], [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Olivia[/name] and [name]Florence[/name].

Also I am half Spanish and my other half is 1/4 German, so any names from those regions would be great too.

If you don’t want anything too common I’d stay away from [name]Daisy[/name] (ranked 20 last year). The others are fine.

I really like [name]Juniper[/name], [name]Clover[/name], Eirlys, [name]Magnolia[/name], Clumbine, [name]Azura[/name] and [name]Valentina[/name].

Suggestions:
[name]Rosalba[/name], [name]Rosalind[/name], [name]Rose[/name]
Eirawen, [name]Eira[/name], Eirwen
[name]Callista[/name], [name]Callisto[/name], [name]Calypso[/name], [name]Calliope[/name]
[name]Mimosa[/name], [name]Garland[/name], [name]Amaryllis[/name], [name]Snowdrop[/name], Honeysuckle, Meadowsweet, [name]Jasmine[/name], Damascena
[name]Clarissa[/name], [name]Cassia[/name]
Finvola, Fionnula
[name]Polina[/name], Rusalka, Vendula, [name]Ruzena[/name], [name]Marzena[/name]

Thanks [name]Ottilie[/name], I really like [name]Rosalba[/name], [name]Eira[/name], [name]Callista[/name], [name]Mimosa[/name], [name]Amaryllis[/name], [name]Jasmine[/name], [name]Cassia[/name], [name]Polina[/name] and [name]Ruzena[/name]. I’ll definitely stay away from [name]Daisy[/name] if it’s that common! I strangely like [name]Snowdrop[/name] and Honeysuckle but I think that’s just the pregnancy hormones talking because I don’t think I’d ever be able pull off naming a kid one of those.

I should probably say now that the following names and anything really similar to them are off limits as first names: [name]Elena[/name], [name]Gisela[/name], [name]Giulia[/name], [name]Nicolas[/name], [name]Elliott[/name], [name]Victor[/name], [name]Mart[/name]ín, [name]Charlie[/name], [name]Alex[/name], [name]Lucy[/name], [name]Pearl[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Leonie[/name], [name]Jacob[/name], [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Olivia[/name] and [name]Florence[/name].

I also like [name]Phoebe[/name] / Belphoebe, [name]Sabrina[/name], [name]Nala[/name] / [name]Naya[/name] and [name]Persephone[/name], missed those off my list the first time.

[name]Calla[/name], [name]Mauve[/name], [name]Primrose[/name], and [name]Sage[/name] are my favorites! for the middle names you can always alter the names slightly so for [name]Jack[/name] it can be Jaqualine, [name]John[/name], [name]Jackie[/name], etc. [name]Maria[/name] could be [name]Mare[/name], [name]Marie[/name], [name]Mary[/name], Maridith etc.

Keep looking at your list, think about it a lot. If you start to grow tired of one, cross it off, if you see one you like, add it. Envision your child with this name on a resume, on her/his wedding day, in a retirement home, on a school playground. cross off, add on until you get your top favorites! once you have those, consider how they’d sound with [name]Maria[/name] or [name]Jack[/name] as a middle (if they have the same amount of syllables don’t do it) and finally show your partner! hopefully that’s a simple way to get a nice list of names, hop i helped

These are my favourites from your list:
Juniper
Primrose
Phoebe
Clover
Magnolia
Columbine
Belphoebe
Calla
Sage
Persephone
Coralina

I love Primrose, Juniper, Phoebe and Magnolia. Persephone is charming but I personally find it a bit over-the-top (it’d make a lovely middle name though), Belphoebe would make a bold and interesting choice, Sage is elegant and Calla and Clover are very sweet. I think Columbine is beautiful but it wouldn’t work at all in the US (those negative associations may not be an issue for you in the UK). I like Coralina but I prefer Coraline or Cora - the extra -a really detracts from its charm, in my opinion.

Here are some other suggestions:
Ottilie
Romilly
India
Ramona
Millicent
Saskia
Tallulah
India
Isadora
Clementine
Cordelia
Ophelia
Theodora
Hermione
Maple
Beatrix
Freya
Penelope
Eloise
Violet
Marigold
Cecily
Matilda
Wren
Lydia
Daphne
Cosima
Lyra
Sylvie
Celeste
Jemima
Seraphina
Genevieve
Calliope
Ariadne
Pandora
Eliza
Luna
Camellia
Phaedra
Maisie
Poppy
Juliet
Constance
Opal
Penina
Philomena
Cressida
Cecilia
Willa

In terms of middles, I’d look for a more inspired variation of Maria, like Miriam, Manon or Mariel.
Juniper Manon
Primrose Mariel
Clover Miriam
Phoebe Manon

Good luck!

[name]Calla[/name]
[name]Azalea[/name]
[name]Coralina[/name]
[name]Mauve[/name]
[name]Daisy[/name]

These are all beautiful names!! Have you considered [name]Esme[/name]? I think it would be a good addition to your list!

Belphoebe is on my list, so that’s my way favourite on your list.

Belphoebe [name]Luz[/name] [name]Maria[/name]!

I think naming your daughter [name]Columbine[/name] is almost as bad as naming her Aushwitz…but I love all your other picks especially
[name]Daisy[/name]
[name]Clover[/name]
[name]Calla[/name]
[name]Coralina[/name]
[name]Juniper[/name]

I love most of the suggestions, in particular [name]Ottilie[/name], [name]Ramonna[/name], [name]Saskia[/name], [name]Tallulah[/name], [name]Maple[/name], [name]Freya[/name], [name]Wren[/name], [name]Cosima[/name], [name]Pandora[/name], [name]Luna[/name], [name]Phaedra[/name], [name]Philomena[/name] and [name]Esme[/name]. And [name]Ottilie[/name], Belphobe [name]Luz[/name] [name]Maria[/name] is beautiful! Definite contender, I think.

I have been thinking about the [name]Columbine[/name] massacre, I am iffy about it but I have liked the name since I was a child. In my opinion it’s not as bad as naming a child Auschwitz, because [name]Columbine[/name] was a name before it was a devastating event. I mean, would an English person naming their daughter [name]Aurora[/name] have the same connotations because of the Batman shooting? I’m not sure. I wouldn’t want to offend anyone with the name, but I think the regional difference here makes it more acceptable.

Some [name]German[/name] names with flower-like sounds:
[name]Rosalinde[/name]
[name]Rosamond[/name]
[name]Rosamund[/name]
[name]Bluma[/name]

Spanish:
[name]Crisanta[/name]
[name]Jacinta[/name]
[name]Liliana[/name]

All would sound good with the middle name of [name]Marie[/name]/[name]Maria[/name]. Other ideas: [name]Bryony[/name], [name]Linnea[/name], [name]Lily[/name], [name]Senna[/name], [name]Aviva[/name], [name]Chloe[/name], [name]Iris[/name], [name]Peridot[/name], [name]Laurel[/name], [name]Hazel[/name], [name]Willow[/name], [name]Scarlett[/name], [name]Clementine[/name], [name]Briar[/name], [name]Maple[/name], [name]Linden[/name], [name]Ivy[/name], [name]Garland[/name], [name]Wren[/name].

Wow, I’m loving everyone’s suggestions, you girls are lifesavers! eka215 I love [name]Rosalinde[/name], [name]Bluma[/name], [name]Crisanta[/name], [name]Jacinta[/name] (considered that as a middle name to honour my father), [name]Linnea[/name], [name]Aviva[/name] (though I think there’s some sort of bank or something around with that name here), [name]Iris[/name], [name]Laurel[/name], [name]Clementine[/name], [name]Ivy[/name] and [name]Wren[/name].
