Found out Our second, due in [name_f]April[/name_f], is a second girl! First is [name_f]Carlie[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. I’m having a problem in that there are plenty of names I like, but none I love. There were definitely more boy names I loved. [name_f]Carlie[/name_f]'s name was decided on kind of randomly. We had a list of about 5 we were between and [name_f]Carlie[/name_f] wasn’t one of them. Then we heard [name_f]Carlie[/name_f] on the radio and looked at each other and said what about that? And both liked it. It certainly wasn’t my top choice, by it was one we both really liked, which was more important to me.
This time around I would like a name that’s girl without being too frilly (though we do like some more unisex type names and will consider those, as well). I also like that [name_f]Carlie[/name_f] doesn’t have or need a nickname. I’m not completely opposed to nicknames, I just don’t like when there are so many names with the same nickname. For example, I like [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], but don’t like that it’d likely be shortened to [name_f]Addy[/name_f] and therefore match the names of all the other [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], [name_u]Addison[/name_u], Etc. So I guess if it were a less popular nickname, I may not mind as much. Lastly, I like familiar without being too popular. So most likely out of the top 100, or names quickly heading there.
The names we both “like” but maybe don’t love:
[name_f]Maren[/name_f]
[name_f]Laurel[/name_f]
[name_u]Quinn[/name_u]
Names he’s nixed:
[name_u]Delaney[/name_u] (was one of my favorites last time and still is this time. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though gen was totally the first to mention the name and denies it now… ”)
[name_u]Bailey[/name_u]
[name_u]Ainsley[/name_u]
[name_u]Everly[/name_u]
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u] (probably too popular anyway)
[name_u]Ellis[/name_u]
[name_f]Aster[/name_f]
[name_u]Ellery[/name_u]
[name_u]Ashton[/name_u]/[name_u]Ashten[/name_u]
The only name I remember him suggesting last time that I didn’t like was [name_f]Macy[/name_f], still not feeling it this time. So far the only one he offered was [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], which was on our list last time, too.
Obviously we have plenty of time, I just want some more names on our list to consider!
[name_f]Maren[/name_f] and [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] remind me of 2 of my favorites: [name_f]Maris[/name_f] and [name_f]Lorna[/name_f]. Where I live [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] is pretty popular for girls, I know popularity is quite regional so maybe it’s not where you are, bit thought I’d mention it. Other ideas: [name_f]Paige[/name_f], [name_f]Zoe[/name_f], [name_u]Darcy[/name_u], [name_u]Darby[/name_u], [name_f]Kenna[/name_f].
I like [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] with [name_f]Carlie[/name_f]. [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] is also cute if you don’t mind the same starting sound. I like [name_u]Hadley[/name_u], too bad that is out.
This response was not all too helpful, and I don’t really understand why you took the time to type it out and send it. Obviously they’re already no’s, so it doesn’t too much matter, but I posted to get opinions on new ideas, not comments on the old ones.
To the others that have replied-thank you for your suggestions. We have a lot to go over, and maybe something will strike the right chord. I like suggestions of [name_f]Lena[/name_f], [name_f]Elle[/name_f], and [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] (I’ve teetered about adding this one to the list). I also like [name_f]Tessa[/name_f], but have a hard time cause [name_f]Tess[/name_f] was the name of our family’s dog that passed a few years back.
I’m also intrigued by [name_f]Aveline[/name_f], but don’t know how it should be pronounced. I’ve never liked the name [name_f]Ava[/name_f], don’t know why but it just never appealed to me. So a long A sound at the beginning kind of turns me off it, but if it’s pronounced like [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] just with a v, it does sound kind of nice.

[name_f]Carlie[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Carlie[/name_f] and [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]
[name_f]Carlie[/name_f] and [name_f]Mali[/name_f]
[name_f]Carlie[/name_f] and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_f]Aveline[/name_f] is commonly pronounced like [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-vuh-leen. I’m not sure how you pronounced [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], many people pronounced it differently ([name_m]Ah[/name_m]-duh-line/leen/lynn). I think the pronunciation can be up to you though in the end, living in the US “line” endings can go any way really.
I really like the suggestions of [name_f]Carlie[/name_f] and [name_f]Grace[/name_f] / [name_f]Carlie[/name_f] and [name_f]Kate[/name_f] ([name_f]Cate[/name_f]?).
She is my first so I haven’t thought about sibling names but it seems we are like minded since I really can’t stand common nicknames like ([name_f]Addy[/name_f] or even [name_f]Maddy[/name_f]). I loved the name [name_f]Zara[/name_f] when I was pregnant. We almost went with that but we loved [name_f]Carlie[/name_f] more. [name_f]Carlie[/name_f] always struck me as a Northern European name even though it’s really not and [name_f]Zara[/name_f] is super popular in Europe and (Australia).
Other names I like (sorry for repeats)
[name_f]Lara[/name_f]
[name_u]Camryn[/name_u] or [name_u]Cameron[/name_u]
[name_f]Micaela[/name_f]
[name_f]Anna[/name_f]
[name_f]Delfina[/name_f]
[name_f]Makenna[/name_f]
[name_f]Hope[/name_f]
[name_f]Alana[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Vera[/name_f]
[name_u]Eden[/name_u]
[name_f]Georgina[/name_f]
[name_f]Alexia[/name_f]
Thanks, this post is a couple years old. We now have a 2-year old, [name_f]Maren[/name_f] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], and adore her name. [name_m]Can[/name_m]’t tell you the number of compliments we’ve gotten!
