Need a vote for Baby number 3!

We have a [name_u]Reagan[/name_u] and a [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] and like the historical connection but want to steer away from super popular. Between [name_m]Winston[/name_m] and [name_m]Truman[/name_m] for a boy with the middle name [name_m]Timothy[/name_m]. Last name ends in “er”. I need votes! Started out thinking [name_m]Truman[/name_m] then began talking myself out of it though not sure why. Is [name_m]Winston[/name_m] a better choice? Like the last name for first name idea even though these can both be firsts as well. Please weigh in on “dorky level” (not what I want) or “cool, unusual surname factor” which is a win. Also will likely shorten to [name_m]Tru[/name_m] or [name_u]Win[/name_u] sometimes.

Sorry, but this trio is too much imo. I think you should pull from different historical sources for this baby.

Alone, I’d say [name_m]Truman[/name_m] is great but with siblings [name_u]Reagan[/name_u] and [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] it’s totally overboard and wavering on the side of fictitious. [name_m]Winston[/name_m] does not go with [name_u]Reagan[/name_u] and [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] and sounds like a stuffy old man. It’s vintage that is not being brought back.

Suggestions:
[name_u]Reagan[/name_u], [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m], and [name_m]Jackson[/name_m]
[name_u]Reagan[/name_u], [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m], and [name_u]Tyler[/name_u]
[name_u]Reagan[/name_u], [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m], and [name_u]Taylor[/name_u]
[name_u]Reagan[/name_u], [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m], and [name_m]Pierce[/name_m]
[name_u]Reagan[/name_u], [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m], and [name_m]Grant[/name_m]
[name_u]Reagan[/name_u], [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m], and [name_m]Hayes[/name_m]
[name_u]Reagan[/name_u], [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m], and [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]
[name_u]Reagan[/name_u], [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m], and [name_u]Bailey[/name_u]
[name_u]Reagan[/name_u], [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m], and [name_m]Sherman[/name_m]
[name_u]Reagan[/name_u], [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m], and [name_m]Knox[/name_m]
[name_u]Reagan[/name_u], [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m], and [name_u]Mason[/name_u]
[name_u]Reagan[/name_u], [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m], and [name_m]Ross[/name_m]
[name_u]Reagan[/name_u], [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m], and [name_u]Hudson[/name_u]

I love [name_m]Winston[/name_m]. Since 1892 it’s never left the top 1000 in popularity. It’s currently ranked #523 and has only been rising in the last several years. I think [name_m]Washington[/name_m] and [name_m]Roosevelt[/name_m] would also be interesting to add. I’m not sure how your names are “bordering on fictitious.” I think they’re interesting and fun and that it’s a neat theme.

I like [name_m]Truman[/name_m]

I love [name_m]Truman[/name_m] and I’m not quite sure why the first person to respond criticized you for picking presidential surnames…but then offered a bunch of other presidential surnames for your consideration. [name_m]Grant[/name_m] and [name_m]Hayes[/name_m] are great names too, though!

Here’s your pros and cons
[name_m]Truman[/name_m] [name_m]Timothy[/name_m], TT double ts is fine if you want that, [name_m]TrumAn[/name_m] and [name_u]ReagAn[/name_u] and [name_m]LincOln[/name_m]
[name_m]Winston[/name_m] [name_m]Timothy[/name_m] WT different initials, [name_m]WinstOn[/name_m] and see above, with either name the final vowel before the n will be repeated from one of your previous children, not a bad thing but worth noting. I like patterns so I say continue the association and two syllable -n name… because its a pattern and Also because I love the nn [name_m]Tru[/name_m]* and like win also. Congrats on a third !!!

Congratulations on baby three! You have two great options, but I think I do prefer [name_m]Winston[/name_m]! I love the nickname option [name_u]Win[/name_u] and I like the old but ready for use again feel. I also am not a big fan of alliteration which is why I’d choose [name_m]Winston[/name_m]…
On the other hand, just to be confusing ;), I almost feel like [name_m]Truman[/name_m] fits better with your boys names and I [name_f]ADORE[/name_f] the nickname [name_m]Tru[/name_m]!
Either way, you’ll be doing great. All the best!

I like [name_m]Truman[/name_m] better with [name_u]Reagan[/name_u] and [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m], as it sounds more modern and snappy than [name_m]Winston[/name_m], which feels a bit dusty and not quite ready for a comeback yet. I’m not really a fan of [name_m]Tru[/name_m] though, and while [name_u]Win[/name_u] is cool (saw it on a character in a book and liked it), it might seem a bit pompous (along the lines of naming your child Champion or something, not saying you’d do that!). I don’t think either needs a nickname though, they’re not long names at all. Neither [name_m]Truman[/name_m] [name_m]Timothy[/name_m] or [name_m]Winston[/name_m] [name_m]Timothy[/name_m] flow very well to me though. What about something like [name_m]Truman[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] or [name_m]Winston[/name_m] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m]?

By the way, have you heard of this family who accidentally named their first two kids after presidents and decided to continue the theme? Dubuque family names follow presidential pattern - Washington Times

Thanks for the input. Yeah, I probably shouldn’t have told my other kids’ names bcs I am not really interested in feedback on whether or not we do the presidential thing but more on which name “goes” or seems out of place with our other two. And in response to the first person we have considered all of those names and ruled them out for one reason or another but yes they are all great choices. Simply don’t know between [name_m]Truman[/name_m] and [name_m]Winston[/name_m]. Depends on my mood and the day so we will see! Thanks for all the comments!

I much prefer Truman to Winston. But I second the previous suggestions of Grant and Hayes – they seem to make the sibset a little less over the top. What about Harrison? It’s a historical surname as well (William Henry Harrison), but it also feels more mainstream and less obvious. There’s also Jackson, Tyler, or Graham.

I offered names from a variety of Historical sources. Also, names like [name_m]Jackson[/name_m], [name_u]Tyler[/name_u], [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] and [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] are so popular that they do not give off Presidential vibes. But apparently no one can have an opinion?

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_m]Truman[/name_m], like [name_m]Winston[/name_m]. Think either would be fine

[name_m]Winston[/name_m], every time. It’s such a wonderful name, and actually I think it’s great with your other sons names. Go for it!

I prefer [name_m]Truman[/name_m]. I don’t think it needs a nickname. I don’t know whether you were using the middle [name_m]Timothy[/name_m] as an honor name, but as another poster suggested, I like [name_m]Truman[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] better.

My third boy was going to be [name_m]Winston[/name_m] until I stumbled upon the name [name_m]Truett[/name_m], so pretty similar to your choices. I like the nickname [name_u]Win[/name_u] and really like [name_u]True[/name_u]. I love both names; [name_m]Winston[/name_m] offers the adorable old man baby vibe, like [name_m]Henry[/name_m] or [name_m]George[/name_m] only more interesting. [name_m]Truett[/name_m] (the name of my son), is much more uncommon apparently; I get some puzzled faces. But everyone seems to like [name_u]True[/name_u].

[name_m]Winston[/name_m] is my pick! Charming name. I think if you used [name_m]Truman[/name_m] with your other boys names it would become too much “I’m American and proud” sounding… and not in a good way. Sounds stuffy.

I love [name_m]Winston[/name_m]! I like the possibility of the nickname [name_u]Winn[/name_u] too.

I think three president surnames is too much, so I won’t vote for [name_m]Truman[/name_m], even though it’s a decent name.
