[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all. You all really helped me when trying to name our boy, and I’m hoping that you can help us with a girl’s name now! (Here’s the old thread.)
We need a girl’s name which is lovely and pronounceable in several different languages, including English, [name_m]German[/name_m], Spanish, and Arabic. We’d prefer a name that does NOT end in “A”. (ie. no [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], [name_f]Lena[/name_f], [name_f]Mina[/name_f], [name_f]Dina[/name_f], [name_f]Gina[/name_f], etc. )
Perhaps a Latin or Greek name?
A few names that we like, but won’t use for various reasons:
Hanin (I do like names that end in “n”)
[name_f]Miriam[/name_f]/[name_f]Maryam[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]
[name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_u]Romy[/name_u]
I have no idea about Arabic but these should be pronounceable in the other three languages, not sure if they fit your style though.
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f] / [name_f]Leonore[/name_f] / [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] / [name_f]Eleonore[/name_f] / etc.
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f] / [name_f]Sofie[/name_f] / [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] / [name_f]Coralie[/name_f]
[name_f]Chloe[/name_f]
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u]
Thanks everyone. I really like [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]/[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]… funny that three people came up with that. I wonder how/if that works in [name_m]German[/name_m]. (Might be pronounced a bit like “Fiffienn”.
[name_f]Maren[/name_f] is also gorgeous.
[name_f]Noor[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] are also really nice. Adding to the list!
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] would be pronounced almost the same as in English, no F sound. The shorter [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] is usally spelled [name_u]Vivien[/name_u] here as the -an sound would make it [name_f]Vivi[/name_f]-ahnn.
Someone I know wanted an Arabic name and used [name_f]Zara[/name_f]. Since you don’t want it ending in an a, and you like [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]/[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f], [name_f]Maren[/name_f], [name_f]Noor[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], here are my suggestions:
[name_f]Imogen/name_f or [name_f]Innogen[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]/[name_f]Beatriz[/name_f]/[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Magdalen/name_f
[name_f]Yasmin/name_f or [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f]
[name_f]Tamsin[/name_f]
[name_f]Valen[/name_f]
Shalimar
[name_f]Este/name_f
[name_f]Esme/name_f
[name_f]Lenore[/name_f]
[name_u]Lior[/name_u]
[name_f]Greer[/name_f]
Thanks for your reply. My husband suggested [name_f]Jasmin[/name_f] the other day. I’m on the fence; too “90s trendy” (for English-speaking countries)?
I have a friend called [name_f]Ayan[/name_f]. I think her name is gorgeous, and it’s easily spelled and pronounced in most languages. I believe the name itself is African though. Another favorite of mine, which I think fits your criteria, is Tehani. I think it’s so beautiful and I would love to use it someday.
More suggestions:
[name_m]Ailin[/name_m]
[name_f]Emilie[/name_f]
[name_f]Amalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Nadine[/name_f] (I much prefer [name_f]Nadia[/name_f] though)
[name_f]Amani[/name_f]
[name_f]May[/name_f]
