Need Girl name for big sister Avery Lynn

My name is [name]Angie[/name], my husband is [name]Andrew[/name] ([name]Andy[/name]) and our daughter [name]Avery[/name] is going to be a big sister in [name]August[/name]. I’m looking for a girl name that shares the same qualities as the name [name]Avery[/name]: unisex, not too girly, starts with an A. If it’s a boy its going to be [name]Alexander[/name]. I find out in 5 days!

If I can’t think of a girl A name, I’m open to names that start with a vowel, contain the sounds “el” or “lo”…or end with an N. Need help! I’m becoming obsessed.

These are names I don’t hate right now but my husband is not necessarily a fan of ANY name except [name]Alex[/name].

[name]Amelia[/name]
[name]Emmerson[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Claire[/name]
[name]Abbey[/name]

Thanks!

[name]Just[/name] ignore the too masculine ones, I have a very thin line between gender when it comes to names haha
Annex
[name]Atticus[/name] nn [name]Attie[/name]
[name]Ian[/name]
[name]Echo[/name]

If it weren’t for your husband I’d say [name]Burgundy[/name] nn [name]Andy[/name], I think it’s a gorgeous unisex name with an A starting nn. From your list I like [name]Amelia[/name] best. Best of luck!

If you like [name]Alexander[/name] on a boy, what about [name]Alexandra[/name] (nn the unisex [name]Alex[/name]) or [name]Alexis[/name] for a girl?

[name]Alana[/name] (female variant of [name]Alan[/name]), [name]Andrea[/name] (female variant of [name]Andrew[/name], though you might not want that) and [name]Antonia[/name] (female version of [name]Anthony[/name]/[name]Antony[/name]) aren’t unisex but are the female version of male names and hold unisex nicknames ([name]Al[/name], [name]Andy[/name], [name]Toni[/name]).

I’ve heard of [name]Arlo[/name] being used for girls though I think it’s still given mostly to boys.

[name]Ashley[/name] is the first unisex A name I think of, though I don’t know whether you’d think it was dated. [name]Asher[/name]/Ashen are alternatives, but I do see them as more male than unisex.

Agree with pp, maybe [name]Alexandra[/name] or [name]Alexa[/name]?

[name]Aria[/name]
[name]Astrid[/name]
[name]Ariel[/name] (too much mermaid association?)
[name]Amie[/name] (or [name]Aimee[/name] or [name]Amy[/name])

I agree that [name]Alexandra[/name] is the obvious choice for a girl if you and your husband like the nn [name]Alex[/name]

Others:
[name]Ashton[/name]
[name]Adrienne[/name]
[name]Addison[/name]
[name]Aspen[/name]
[name]Audrey[/name]/[name]Aubrey[/name]
[name]Ellison[/name]
[name]Erin[/name]

I know this is kind of an 'Is she serious" thing, but have you considered the name [name]August[/name]. I mean, the baby is due in [name]August[/name] and what better unisex ‘A’ name than that? I love the name [name]August[/name] [name]Grayce[/name]

[name]Addison[/name] would be perfect! Here are some other ideas…

[name]Ashby[/name]
[name]Ashley[/name]
[name]Aerin[/name]
[name]Afton[/name]
[name]Arliss[/name]
[name]Alyce[/name]
[name]Alanis[/name]
[name]Amaya[/name]
[name]Anise[/name]
[name]Alea[/name]
[name]Aura[/name]

[name]Emory[/name]
[name]Ember[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name]
[name]Isannah[/name]
[name]Iola[/name]
[name]Ione[/name]/[name]Iona[/name]
[name]Ingrid[/name]
[name]Olive[/name]
[name]Olivia[/name]
[name]Orla[/name]
[name]Ursula[/name]

oh I agree with pp I think [name]Addison[/name] would be perfect with [name]Avery[/name]. Plus you might still have a little boy someday, so I wouldn’t use [name]Alexandra[/name] as it would eliminate that as a future boy option.

Good point with using up my future boy option. Thanks for the input. I really like [name]Addison[/name] but I never considered because I know a couple already, but it’s my mom’s cousins daughters daughter and she is 11 so…is it acceptable. I have a friend from college that I don’t see too much that has a 6 year old named [name]Addison[/name]. Can I even consider it?

[name]Arden[/name]
[name]Angel[/name] (I know in some circles this wouldn’t be considered unisex, but I grew up in a Hispanic neighborhood and this name is very male to me!)
Adri

(and I’ll second the suggestion of [name]August[/name])

I think [name]Adeline[/name] would also be very pretty with [name]Avery[/name], and I adore the nn [name]Addy[/name]!! [name]Adeline[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] would be very pretty!

Oh, a friend of mine had a boy, but the girl name she had picked out was [name]Anniston[/name]. That has the same feel as [name]Addison[/name] to me, but is less popular, has lots of nn potential, and is spunky like [name]Avery[/name]. Maybe that one would be a good alternative to [name]Addison[/name]?

I love [name]August[/name] and [name]Avery[/name]!

Here are some that you might like ([name]Don[/name]'t all fit you’re criteria exactly, but they work) -
[name]Asha[/name]
[name]Audrey[/name]
[name]Alexis[/name]
[name]Asa[/name]
[name]Ainsley[/name]
[name]Vivian[/name]
[name]Alana[/name]
[name]Emery[/name]
[name]Amani[/name]
[name]Blythe[/name]
[name]Adalyn[/name]
[name]Elliott[/name]
[name]Amara[/name]
[name]Aubrey[/name]
[name]Amalie[/name] (an alternative to [name]Amelia[/name]?)
[name]Eden[/name]

Lots of great suggestions here. To go with [name]Avery[/name], I will second…

[name]August[/name]
[name]Ashton[/name]
Aniston
[name]Aria[/name] (or [name]Ari[/name])
[name]Aspen[/name]
[name]Arden[/name] (or [name]Arwen[/name])
[name]Asa[/name]
[name]Ashby[/name]

To that I will add:
[name]Adrian[/name] (I actually prefer this spelling)
[name]Andie[/name] (or longer variation)
[name]Annalise[/name] (too girlie?)
[name]April[/name]
[name]Adele[/name]

Some more unusual A names that I didn’t see above: [name]Ada[/name], [name]Asia[/name], [name]Alba[/name], [name]Allegra[/name], [name]Athena[/name], [name]Annika[/name], [name]Agatha[/name], [name]Althea[/name], Ames, [name]Auburn[/name], [name]Austen[/name], [name]Acacia[/name]. But from the sound of things, these might be too out there for your style.

[name]Avery[/name] is my favorite girl name, it is so pretty! I don’t know if anyone has suggested this yet, but I have always liked the name [name]Annabel[/name]. It think that it could go pretty well with [name]Avery[/name]. I agree that [name]Addison[/name] would also be a really good choice for your family, I don’t think its a big deal if you use it also, especially if the little girl is 6. What about…

[name]Alexis[/name]/[name]Alexia[/name] (she could go by [name]Alex[/name])
[name]Aubrey[/name]
[name]Aliyah[/name]
[name]Allison[/name]
[name]Ashlynn[/name]
[name]Anniston[/name]
[name]Aurora[/name]
[name]Alaina[/name]
[name]Annika[/name]
[name]Alice[/name]

Other than those, the only non A names I think that would go really well with Avery and fit your requirements would be, Brynn, Ryan, Kennedy, Reese, Quinn, Jaden

[name]Hope[/name] I could help
