I feel like starting over with my girl name list… this is SO hard. Here’s some of my thoughts, maybe you’ll be able to help me come up with a name.
Names I like but am not sure of:
[name]Iris[/name] (doesn’t have an L and it seems like most names I like have the L sound somewhere)
[name]Evangeline[/name]
[name]Abigail[/name]
[name]Callie[/name]
[name]Juliette[/name]
Names I love but can’t use:
[name]Natalie[/name] - friend used it
[name]Violet[/name] - friend “reserved” it (lol)
[name]Madelyn[/name] - friend used it although we don’t see each other often
[name]Isla[/name] - DH doesn’t like this
Names I love but I think are too simple:
[name]Claire[/name] - was my grandmother and I would love to honor her though (don’t like [name]Clara[/name]).
[name]Molly[/name]
Names I love but worry about spelling & pronounciation (although I wouldn’t change the spelling):
[name]Eilidh[/name] - our last name isn’t an easy spell either… but I love this one (pn: Ay-[name]Lee[/name])
[name]Amelie[/name] - something is just not right with the way it sounds when I say it, not sure I can get over it
If you’re having any hesitation on a name - any at ALL - I would throw it out; your instincts will help you out by narrowing down the name pool! So based on what you said above, I would toss [name]Iris[/name], Eilidh (I agree on pronunciation issues; that’s a doozy) and [name]Amelie[/name]. (There’s always [name]Amelia[/name], if that’s more appealing.) So that would leave you with:
Out of those I think [name]Callie[/name] underwhelmes - it seems the weakest and most “meh” of the bunch. Since you love [name]Claire[/name] and [name]Molly[/name] but think them too plain for a first name that would make them perfect candidates for the middle spot. [name]Evangeline[/name], [name]Abigail[/name] and [name]Juliette[/name] would all sound pretty elegant with [name]Claire[/name] as a middle name, whereas [name]Molly[/name] would give them a more quirky vibe. ([name]Juliette[/name] [name]Claire[/name]: lovely. [name]Abigail[/name] [name]Molly[/name]? Very cute.) It might come down to how you feel about nicknames. If [name]Evie[/name] or [name]Eva[/name] makes your skin crawl, skip [name]Evangeline[/name]. Ditto for [name]Abby[/name]. [name]Juliette[/name] would probably be the least likely to get shortened, although I know some people avoid it because they dislike [name]Julie[/name]. You would be more likely to hear [name]Jules[/name], though, which is a pretty fun nickname. I think [name]Juliette[/name] is your best pick: romantic yet strong, with that nice “-ette” ending. I’ve known an older [name]Juliette[/name] - 50ish - and the name ages beautifully.
[name]Amalia[/name]
[name]Adelie[/name]
[name]Atalie[/name] (it’s a real name)
[name]Rosalie[/name]
[name]Coralie[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name]
[name]Viola[/name]
[name]Adelaide[/name]
[name]Adelyn[/name]
[name]Holly[/name]
[name]Polly[/name]
[name]Malia[/name]
[name]Elena[/name]
Also you could spell [name]Eilidh[/name] like Aylee
I’m still loving [name]Juliette[/name] [name]Claire[/name] and quite like [name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Claire[/name] too! I really also like [name]Elle[/name], which wasn’t on my original list but I think it’s harder to find a good middle name…
