Need help naming baby boy #2 and brother to Cohen

I am expecting my second son next month and struggling to find a name for him. My first son is named [name_m]Cohen[/name_m] so they need to work together which is where I think my main problem is. These are our top options and my fears of each

  1. [name_u]Theo[/name_u]/[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]: My sister had a baby last month and used it for a middle name. I am hesitant to use a name she already used even though it’s just a middle name. It was our Grandfather’s name.
  2. [name_m]Harrison[/name_m]: feels a little heavy compared to [name_m]Cohen[/name_m]
  3. [name_m]Penn[/name_m]: worried that the en sound is too repetitive with [name_m]Cohen[/name_m]
  4. [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]: concerned about its popularity

Are my fears of each irrational or do you agree? Which do you prefer with [name_m]Cohen[/name_m]?

I think [name_u]Theo[/name_u], [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] and [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] are all very nice with [name_m]Cohen[/name_m]. I understand your hesitation to use [name_u]Theo[/name_u], and if it is “the one”, I would first ask your sister how she feels about you also using it. My first choice for you is [name_m]Harrison[/name_m], and [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] is just as nice but maybe less used on the popularity scale.

I understand about not wanting to “reuse” [name_u]Theo[/name_u] but agree with pp about asking your sister if you really feel it is “the one”. Afterall, it is a family name (and a popular name). I like [name_m]Penn[/name_m] on its own and [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] on its own, but as a sibling pair with [name_m]Cohen[/name_m] I worry that they will sound like a law firm. [name_m]Hazard[/name_m] of surnames as first names. But if that doesn’t put you off, I like [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] best.

I like [name_m]Penn[/name_m] best with [name_m]Cohen[/name_m]!!!
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m] saw a big rise to the almost top 50, I feel it is destined to be a top 10 for sure, it’s definitely a “hot” name. I wouldn’t want to pick it either. I really like [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] with [name_m]Cohen[/name_m] as well. I also am not a fan of using a name someone in the family recently did. Idk. Could be he ends up being called his middle, and then you have two close [name_u]Theo[/name_u]'s. You could keep with it and use it for a middle too though. [name_m]Penn[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], or [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] would sound good.

My sister is fine with us using [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] for a first name. The issue is really on my end and not wanting to use the same name so close in time. I don’t want to be seen as copying by people that don’t know we were considering it before.

I think [name_m]Cohen[/name_m] and [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] are awesome together, but since [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] was one of my favorite names also (and has since been removed due to its popularity), I totally understand where you’re coming from there. Other people who have good taste in names are so annoying, haha :frowning: We need to just keep the steady stream of [name_m]Matthews[/name_m] and Johns so all the good names can stay unique!
