NEED HELP! Polish boys names that sound good in English with cute nicknames

Hello to all. I need help picking out a boys name that’s either Polish and sounds good in English or vice versa. I would also like it have a cute diminutive. My half of the family is Polish and can’t stand the idea of my parents not being able to pronounce their first grandchilds name.

I personally like [name_u]Dominik[/name_u] as there are many NN associated with it, i.e. [name_u]Niki[/name_u], [name_u]Niko[/name_u], [name_u]Mika[/name_u] pronounced Mee-kah, and [name_f]Nika[/name_f], though my other halfs not to keen on it. Says they all sound like girls NN. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you agree?

Also like Lucjan but don’t know how that translates to English.

Any thoughts or ideas?

I really like [name_u]Dominik[/name_u] ‘[name_u]Niko[/name_u]’! [name_u]Mika[/name_u] is cool too, I see it as unisex. Maybe [name_u]Misha[/name_u] could work, too?

[name_m]Adam[/name_m]
Aleksander
[name_m]Filip[/name_m] ([name_m]Philip[/name_m])
[name_m]Marcel[/name_m] – [name_u]Love[/name_u] this one. You could call him [name_m]Marc[/name_m]/[name_m]Marco[/name_m] for short?
[name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] / [name_m]Maksymilian[/name_m] – Can be called [name_u]Max[/name_u], Milian, Milio, etc, for short.
Marcin – Same nn as [name_m]Marcel[/name_m].
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]
Wiktor
[name_m]Kacper[/name_m]
[name_m]Krystian[/name_m]
[name_m]Fabian[/name_m]
[name_m]Gabriel[/name_m]
[name_m]Julian[/name_m]
[name_m]Dawid[/name_m]

I also wanted to say that I like [name_u]Karol[/name_u] a lot – I know the most awesome guy with this name, but I guess it would be a hassle in English-speaking countries?

I love [name_u]Dominik[/name_u], and think all of those nicknames would be amazing, especially [name_u]Mika[/name_u]. I would assume that Lucjan is pronounced like LOO-syahn if that helps, and I think most people would get the pronunciation. [name_u]Love[/name_u] the previously suggested [name_m]Marcel[/name_m], and would also offer [name_m]Maksim[/name_m] as another suggestion.

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]Mika[/name_u]. Would go with that as a first name if so many people didn’t think it was feminine. Mishas really cute too!

Great suggestions! [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] but it’s already taken in the family. [name_m]Adam[/name_m], [name_m]Dawid[/name_m], [name_m]Krystian[/name_m], Aleksander, [name_m]Filip[/name_m] I feel are too common. [name_m]Kasper[/name_m] the ghost. [name_m]Fabian[/name_m] - [name_m]Fabio[/name_m]. [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] but don’t like [name_m]Gabe[/name_m]. Like [name_m]Julian[/name_m] but don’t like [name_u]Jules[/name_u]. [name_m]Wictor[/name_m] and Maxmilian sound midevil to my ears. I like [name_m]Marcel[/name_m] - [name_m]Markey[/name_m] perhaps?

What do you think about [name_u]Mika[/name_u]? [name_m]How[/name_m] does it sound to a mans ear? The only mans opinion I’ve gotten is my own.

My family has a crapton of [name_m]Casimer[/name_m]'s, so that’s an option. All of them go by Caz (with one of the younger ones sometimes called Cazzy by his parents only).

[name_u]Dominik[/name_u] is great! [name_u]Niko[/name_u] is a great, strong name, and [name_u]Mika[/name_u] is great fun (and very handsome) but [name_u]Nik[/name_u] and [name_m]Dom[/name_m] could be other options that your SO might like too. I think Lucjan would throw people a bit- how is it pronounced? I am guessing LOOS-yen or loos-YEN? Sorry, I don’t know how accurate my information is as to whether or not these names are used in Poland, but hopefully these suggestions are okay.

These would translate well (in my opinion) Polish / English:
[name_m]Makary[/name_m] (Mak / [name_m]Mack[/name_m] or [name_m]Kary[/name_m]), [name_m]Oskar[/name_m], [name_m]Nikolai[/name_m], [name_m]Adrian[/name_m], [name_m]Leon[/name_m], [name_m]Damian[/name_m], [name_m]Daniel[/name_m], [name_u]Florian[/name_u], [name_m]Robert[/name_m], [name_m]Marek[/name_m], [name_m]Anzelm[/name_m], [name_m]Casimir[/name_m], [name_m]Franio[/name_m], [name_m]Izak[/name_m], [name_m]Idzi[/name_m], [name_m]Eryk[/name_m], [name_m]Henryk[/name_m], [name_m]Konrad[/name_m], [name_m]Koby[/name_m], [name_m]Maksym[/name_m], [name_m]Rye[/name_m], [name_m]Symon[/name_m], [name_m]Patryk[/name_m], [name_m]Teos[/name_m], [name_m]Salvator[/name_m], [name_m]Marcel[/name_m], [name_m]Aleksy[/name_m], [name_m]Albin[/name_m], [name_m]Aleksandr[/name_m], [name_m]Aron[/name_m], Augustyn, [name_m]Aurelius[/name_m], [name_m]Aurelio[/name_m], Brunon, [name_m]Cyprian[/name_m], Emmilian, [name_m]Feliks[/name_m], Holleb, [name_m]Jack[/name_m], [name_m]Kelby[/name_m], [name_u]Kolby[/name_u], [name_m]Pawl[/name_m], [name_m]Stefan[/name_m], [name_m]Teodor[/name_m], [name_m]Tolek[/name_m].

Here are my offerings:

[name_m]Albin[/name_m] - [name_m]Al[/name_m]
[name_m]Anatol[/name_m] - Tolly
[name_m]Bartek[/name_m] - [name_m]Bart[/name_m]
[name_m]Bruno[/name_m] (no nn needed)
[name_m]Feliks[/name_m] (no nn needed)
Jaromir - Jare, Miro, [name_f]Romi[/name_f], [name_u]Jay[/name_u], etc
[name_m]Julian[/name_m]
Mirek (no nn needed)
[name_m]Nikodem[/name_m] - [name_u]Nick[/name_u], [name_u]Nik[/name_u], [name_u]Niko[/name_u], etc
[name_m]Teodor[/name_m] - [name_m]Teo[/name_m] or [name_m]Ted[/name_m]
[name_m]Tymon[/name_m] - Tym or [name_m]Tim[/name_m]

As for [name_u]Dominik[/name_u], I love it. I think that [name_u]Niko[/name_u] would be the only nickname from your list that is purely masculine though.
Lucjan woudl throw English-speakers for a loop… but it is a lovely name, and you can always call him [name_m]Luc[/name_m]… which is very familiar.

Good luck!
