Hi guys! I am brand new here and I really need some help!
I am 30 weeks pregnant with our first child, a baby boy, and we don’t have a name for him. Like so many, we don’t want a super popular or super weird name. Our last name is Hess, which is harder that we thought to find a first name that flows nicely. The phonetics of “Hess” is a little limiting for lots of names, especially ones ending in “S” and “X”. Anyway, I love the name [name_m]Lazlo[/name_m] but my husband vetoed it. We’ve considered [name_m]Winston[/name_m], [name_u]Wyatt[/name_u], [name_m]Xavier[/name_m], and we are now considering [name_u]Barrett[/name_u]. We don’t love any of those.
I personally like simple spelling but a little edgy. If our baby was a girl, we had agreed to name her [name_u]Zuri[/name_u], but we are now completely lost on a boys name.
Congratulations on your son! That is a tricky one! Hess is a nice name but finding others that go with it isn’t easy. Since is so soft and only has one syllable I think it’s a good idea to go for names with harsher sounds and more syllables.
My favorites from these are [name_m]Damian[/name_m] and [name_m]Lawson[/name_m]. I think [name_m]Damian[/name_m] Hess has good cadence and some strong sounds. [name_m]Lawson[/name_m] doesn’t have any strong sounds but I think it still flows nicely. I hope that even if you hate the suggestions I made it might help you think of something you love.

I’ll definitely search with in mind from now on. I really like [name_u]Rocco[/name_u] and [name_u]Maverick[/name_u]. Too bad one of our close friends named their son [name_u]Maverick[/name_u] only last year
Last names can make things tricky, can’t they! From your list, my favorite is [name_u]Barrett[/name_u]–I love it by itself and I think B@rrett Hess sounds great. But you don’t want to settle for something that doesn’t feel quite right, of course! From the previous suggestions, I’ll second [name_u]Beckett[/name_u], [name_u]Arlo[/name_u], [name_m]Bruno[/name_m], [name_m]Damian[/name_m], and [name_u]Rocco[/name_u]. I would also add:
My first thought was [name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m], since you said you liked [name_u]Zuri[/name_u] for a girl and it feels kind of similar in vibe and sound.
