With this being our 4th & last kid (gender unknown), we chose my top girl name because I’ve wanted to use it since our first was born. Therefore, we are using his top boy name, which is [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] should this baby be a boy. Our original middle name was after his grandfather, [name_m]Mack[/name_m], but we just aren’t into the initials BM.
I’m looking for an uncommon yet familiar middle name. Maybe even a little unexpected.
My fave boys names are Wolfie & [name_m]Otis[/name_m]. We don’t like [name_m]Otis[/name_m] as a middle bc of B.O. & im not sure [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] Wolfie sounds very good?!
Honestly, I think you’ve got the name! [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]Mack[/name_m] is uncommon yet familiar and fun. I don’t think “BM” is a big deal because he’ll have a third initial for your last name so he’ll be BML or whatever that letter is. I don’t think ANYONE would catch onto the BM part… I say don’t let that be a deal breaker! So O and M names are out; what about A, J or S names? I’ll try to avoid those just to be safe. [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]Linus[/name_m] is a bit like [name_m]Otis[/name_m] and is adorable, [name_f]IMO[/name_f]. Suggestions:
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]Wolfe[/name_m]
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m] - You can call him Wolfie this way too
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]Rocco[/name_m]
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]Titus[/name_m]
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]Forrest[/name_m]
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]Felix[/name_m]
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]Cassius[/name_m]
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]Zeke[/name_m]
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]Dax[/name_m]
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]Rufus[/name_m]
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m]
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_u]Leland[/name_u]
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]Wolfe[/name_m] is such a strong name! It’s actually really cool, since the biblical [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] is compared to a wolf.
Hey there! My first thought was that your husband’s grandpa must have a full name for the zippy [name_m]Mack[/name_m]. Is that his first name, or could you use his full first name or middle name as a way to honor him? If [name_m]Mack[/name_m] came from his last name, maybe there’s a first name in there. For example, you could go with [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] to honor Grandpa “[name_m]Mack[/name_m]” [name_m]MacArthur[/name_m], or [name_m]Domhnall[/name_m] for [name_m]MacDonald[/name_m], etc.
As for Wolfie, it’s adorable on a little one and rakish on an older boy/man. We’re using [name_m]Wolf[/name_m] as a middle name (as long as we stick with our first name choice!) for our boy, due in [name_f]September[/name_f], and we do plan to call him Wolfie sometimes. You could use [name_m]Wolf[/name_m], [name_m]Wolfe[/name_m], or any of the long-form names containing [name_m]Wolf[/name_m] that previous posters have suggested. Wolfram is another option, as are any of the names from around the world whose meanings have something to do with wolves: [name_m]Lowell[/name_m], [name_m]Conal/name_m, [name_m]Phelan[/name_m], [name_m]Rudolph[/name_m], and [name_m]Zev[/name_m] are all pretty neat. Wolfie as a nickname for any of these would call for a brief explanation if anyone asked, but that’s not a dealbreaker to me.
As far as the initials go, I agree with a previous poster that few people are likely to make the connection, and if they do - and they make a big deal out of it - that says more about their sense of humor/maturity level than anything else. If the honor/heritage aspect is important to you, I encourage you to stick with [name_m]Mack[/name_m]. The only people I know who frequently refer to BMs are those in the medical professions anyway.
My favorite suggestions:
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]Mack[/name_m] (or some derivation of Grandpa [name_m]Mack[/name_m]'s name)
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]Wolf/name_m
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]Lowell[/name_m]
Wow, haven’t checked my post in awhile & can’t believe all the awesome feedback! Thank you.
I’m really loving [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]Wolfe[/name_m], so that is high on my list! Another that I’m loving is [name_u]August[/name_u].
I just don’t think that my husband will go for BM. But [name_m]Ben[/name_m] & [name_m]Mack[/name_m] are both his picks, so I’m ok with him choosing his favorite of the two. I do think it’s the perfect name for our babe, without considering silly initials.
[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]Cormac/name_m? It could still honor [name_m]Mack[/name_m], yet it avoids the unsatisfactory initials.
