We love the name [name_f]Emily[/name_f] but it was way more popular than we want. Our last name starts with D and is 3 syllables. I was thinking of [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]. Is that a goofy name? Help!
Haha before I finished the post, I automatically thought [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]! I actually love the name, it’s on my short list 
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] is gorgeous! I also think you might like [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], [name_f]Emelia[/name_f]/[name_f]Amelia[/name_f], and [name_f]Amelie[/name_f]. I think they have the same vibes as [name_f]Emily[/name_f] and [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f].
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] is an old [name_m]French[/name_m] name that has been around since the [name_m]Norman[/name_m] invasion of English so why would you think it’s goofy? I think it’s a lovely name. It can be pronounced “leen” (most authentic) or “line” (like [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]). Which do you like best?
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] is definitely not goofy! I also agree that [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] is another good option, then there is [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] which is also popular but not quite as [name_f]Emily[/name_f], or the alternative [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] as suggested. A lovely choice. You might find that while the long form isn’t very popular, the nicknames are huge. There are tons of [name_f]Emmie[/name_f], [name_f]Emma[/name_f] and Emilys out there. I don’t think that should stop you however.
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] isn’t a goofy name at all. It’s a great name and a good alternative to [name_f]Emily[/name_f]. [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] is another name that could work as an alternative. It not as popular as [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Emily[/name_f], but just as nice. If you really love [name_f]Emily[/name_f] I suggest looking pass the popularity and just use it. Most popular names are popular because they are great names.
