Need help with name combinations

[name]Brand[/name] new to this forum so please be gentle.

I currently have a few favourite names that I would like to use as first names for my baby if it turns out to be a girl and also middle names that I like (which are mostly family names that I would like to honour). But I’m having trouble deciding on combinations and what goes together.

Current favourite first names are: [name]Ottilie[/name], [name]Matilda[/name], [name]Eloise[/name], [name]Sylvia[/name], [name]Elodie[/name], [name]Dorothy[/name]
Middle names: [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Evelyn[/name] or [name]Eve[/name]

At the moment I think I am leaning towards [name]Ottilie[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] but any suggestions welcome and also any suggestions on different middle names welcome too. By the way my husbands surname is [name]Bird[/name] so it needs to go with that (glad I kept my own name!)

Also I am really hoping to avoid anything too pretentious or posh, so please say if you think I am heading that way.

[name]Matilda[/name] [name]Eve[/name] sounds beautiful to me
good luck with your choices

With the last name [name]Bird[/name], I really like the sound of [name]Sylvia[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name]! My second favorite is [name]Dorothy[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name].

I like [name]Ottilie[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Bird[/name]. I’d be a little worried about the -e of [name]Ottilie[/name] running into the beginning E- of any of your mn choices. The same problem with [name]Eloise[/name], and [name]Elodie[/name]. It ends up sounding a bit like Ottilielizabeth. [name]How[/name] about [name]Ottilie[/name] [name]Beth[/name]?

Some other combo’s I like are:
[name]Matilda[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name]
[name]Sylvia[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Dorothy[/name] [name]Eve[/name]

Thanks for the suggestions, and good point about the E’s running in to one another. I do like the name [name]Beth[/name]. I also need to find middle name that goes with [name]Eloise[/name] and [name]Elodie[/name] but doest’t begin with E, as I don’t want first and middle name to start with E.

I really love the idea of [name]Sylvia[/name] [name]Bird[/name]! It just sounds so lyrical and pretty. I would actually love to have the surname [name]Bird[/name], haha! I think [name]Sylvia[/name] [name]Eve[/name] is my favorite, but [name]Sylvia[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] and [name]Sylvia[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] are lovely, as well.

Good luck!

Beautiful choices, and they stay on the right side of pretentious.

With the monosyllabic surname [name]Bird[/name], it will be difficult to use monosyllabic middle name [name]Eve[/name], as it sounds abrupt when spoken aloud. I would focus on combinations using [name]Elizabeth[/name] and [name]Evelyn[/name].

Names ending in vowel sounds will be slightly harder to use when paired with a middle name beginning with a vowel, like [name]Evelyn[/name] or [name]Elizabeth[/name]. (for practice, try saying [name]Eloise[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] aloud versus [name]Sylvia[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name]-- you’ll see how the sounds run together a bit).

In a similar style amily, but ending on a consonant sound, how about:

[name]Adele[/name]
[name]Beatrice[/name]
[name]Celeste[/name]
[name]Colette[/name]
[name]Estelle[/name]
[name]Florence[/name]
[name]Genevieve[/name]
[name]Georgianne[/name]
[name]Harriet[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name]
[name]Leonor[/name]
[name]Magdalene[/name]
[name]Marguerite[/name]
[name]Melisande[/name]
[name]Rosamond[/name]
[name]Sybil[/name]
[name]Wilhelmina[/name]
[name]Winifred[/name]

[name]Dorothy[/name] [name]Eve[/name] is beautiful.

Thank you so much for your suggestions and helpful points. I hadn’t realised until now how I obviously like my vowels!

I vote for [name]Sylvia[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] [name]Bird[/name]. [name]Sylvia[/name] is so beautiful and underused!

I really like [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] and [name]Eloise[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]! [name]Elodie[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] is nice as well. I don’t see the appeal of [name]Ottilie[/name] or [name]Dorothy[/name]. [name]Sylvia[/name] is nice but doesn’t compare with the others.
