Need Help

We’re expecting our first baby boy and every name seems to have a problem! We want a simple, unusual yet non-weird name. Could you suggest names or give feedback on the short list we have now?

[name]Bay[/name] [name]Declan[/name] (Too girly?)
[name]Gray[/name] [name]Callum[/name] (Too similar to popular names like [name]Greyson[/name] & [name]Grace[/name]?)
[name]Asa[/name] [name]Finlay[/name] (Too trendy?)
[name]Elliott[/name] [name]Orion[/name] (Too girly now? [name]Will[/name] it always be mispelled?)
[name]Leo[/name] [name]Finegan[/name] (Too popular?)

Thank you

[name]Bay[/name] [name]Declan[/name] (Too girly?) - [name]Bay[/name] is a new name on the board, apparently, and it seems to be a girl’s name mostly. NMS, personally.
[name]Gray[/name] [name]Callum[/name] (Too similar to popular names like [name]Greyson[/name] & [name]Grace[/name]?) -[name]Gray[/name] is a popular alternative to [name]Greyson[/name]. It’s a nice name.
[name]Asa[/name] [name]Finlay[/name] (Too trendy?) - [name]Asa[/name] has always been a girl’s name to me. I wouldn’t use it on a boy.
[name]Elliott[/name] [name]Orion[/name] (Too girly now? [name]Will[/name] it always be mispelled?) - [name]Love[/name] [name]Elliott[/name]. Not so much [name]Orion[/name]. Spelling may be an issue, but there are several acceptable spellings of it.
[name]Leo[/name] [name]Finegan[/name] (Too popular?) - Nice. Like this one.

Other suggestions:

[name]Asa[/name] is a many times used [name]MALE[/name] name in my family. My best friend’s wife is expecting and if they have a boy they want to use [name]Asa[/name] [name]James[/name].

The names I see on your short list are all unusal-yet-not-weird when they are on their own. I think they get weird when you combine them. [name]May[/name] I suggest you use any of them for FN and come up with more traditional names for MN.

[name]Elliott[/name] [name]Orion[/name] - [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Elliott[/name] on a boy, and personally I think it’s definitely masculine! Great name
[name]Leo[/name] [name]Finegan[/name] - [name]Love[/name] this too, works on a little boy and an adult. I can’t think of anything wrong with it!
The only name that came to mind to suggest was [name]Marshall[/name]. Good luck!

[name]Bay[/name] [name]Declan[/name] (Too girly?) - I don’t know about the flow of this one. [name]Declan[/name] [name]Bay[/name] sounds nice.
[name]Gray[/name] [name]Callum[/name] (Too similar to popular names like [name]Greyson[/name] & [name]Grace[/name]?) - It’s okay. I like [name]Callum[/name] a bit better than [name]Gray[/name].
[name]Asa[/name] [name]Finlay[/name] (Too trendy?) - I don’t see [name]Asa[/name] as too trendy. [name]Asa[/name] is a good, strong boys name with biblical ties, which may or may not appeal to you. I don’t care for it paired with [name]Finlay[/name], though. [name]Asa[/name] is a quiet name, and it would be best anchored with a name like [name]Declan[/name].
[name]Elliott[/name] [name]Orion[/name] (Too girly now? [name]Will[/name] it always be mispelled?) - [name]Elliott[/name] is absolutely a masculine name. It’s in the Top 1000 for boys with three different spellings. I honestly don’t know why people are raising the “girly” alarm. It’s a boys name that has been long recognized as such and has a number of prominent bearers. (As you might guess, [name]Elliot[/name] is my top name for a boy. :))That said, I don’t know if [name]Orion[/name] flows well with it. I do like [name]Orion[/name], though, but there is a little too much vowel action here.
[name]Leo[/name] [name]Finegan[/name] (Too popular?) - I don’t know any boys named [name]Leo[/name], but according to the SSA charts, over 1000 boys were born with the name in 2010. Compare that to [name]Jacob[/name], with 21,000 boys born. I think [name]Leo[/name] is in a good place popularity-wise.

[name]Elliot[/name], [name]Gray[/name], and [name]Leo[/name] are 3 of my favorite boys names! I really like [name]Grey[/name] [name]Callum[/name] from your list.

I really like [name]Elliott[/name] [name]Orion[/name] and [name]Leo[/name] [name]Finnegan[/name]. I don’t think [name]Elliott[/name] [name]Orion[/name] is the lest bit feminine and I don’t think [name]Leo[/name] [name]Finnegan[/name] is really too popular.

I also really like [name]Gray[/name] [name]Callum[/name] but think the flow would be wonderful [name]Callum[/name] [name]Gray[/name] which would solve the problem you’re having with it.

I’m not too keen on your combo’s but individually I love/like; [name]Bay[/name], [name]Declan[/name], [name]Asa[/name], [name]Elliott[/name], [name]Orion[/name] and [name]Leo[/name].

I’ve only ever seen [name]Bay[/name] considered for a boy so no I don’t think it’s too girly at all but the combo flows better as [name]Declan[/name] [name]Bay[/name].

[name]Callum[/name] [name]Gray[/name] sounds better than [name]Gray[/name] [name]Callum[/name] - something like [name]Grayson[/name] [name]Flynn[/name], [name]Grayson[/name] [name]Leo[/name] or [name]Grayson[/name] [name]Bay[/name] would be cute.

[name]Asa[/name] is a gorgeous boys name and I think people would only think female because of [name]Ada[/name] and [name]Ava[/name] but even then I’ve never seen or heard of it on a little girl. I don’t like [name]Finlay[/name] with [name]Asa[/name] at all, it looks odd. [name]Asa[/name] [name]Elliot[/name], [name]Asa[/name] [name]James[/name], [name]Asa[/name] [name]Daniel[/name], [name]Asa[/name] [name]Gabriel[/name], [name]Asa[/name] [name]Theodore[/name] or [name]Asa[/name] [name]Maxwell[/name] would all be great

[name]Elliott[/name] [name]Orion[/name] is probably my favourite of your combo’s, this one just looks the best to me. [name]Elliot[/name] will never be a girls names, despite its use - if you love [name]Elliott[/name] use it. In terms of the spelling people consider so many different ones for [name]Elliot[/name] ([name]Eliot[/name]. [name]Eliott[/name], [name]Elliot[/name], [name]Elliott[/name]) and to be honest I have been writing [name]Elliot[/name] a lot more lately but I used love the [name]Elliott[/name] spelling.

[name]Leo[/name] is a gorgeous name but very popular in the UK. I like [name]Finlay[/name], [name]Flynn[/name] and [name]Finn[/name] but never been keen on [name]Finegan[/name]/[name]Finnegan[/name] at all. Maybe you would like [name]Leo[/name] [name]Elliot[/name], [name]Leo[/name] [name]Cameron[/name], [name]Leo[/name] [name]Dominic[/name], [name]Leo[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name], [name]Leo[/name] Yheodore, [name]Leo[/name] [name]August[/name] or [name]Leo[/name] [name]Grayson[/name]?

[name]Bay[/name] [name]Declan[/name] - I think [name]Bay[/name] is a little girly, but not too much so. I’m not sure it flows too well, though.
[name]Gray[/name] [name]Callum[/name] - I like the name [name]Gray[/name], although I feel like [name]Grey[/name] is more masculine. I don’t think this flows very well either.
[name]Asa[/name] [name]Finlay[/name] - I do think it’s a little trendy, and it’s trending for girls. I accept it on boys, but I know some people will be all BLARG about it. Some people are stupid like that.
[name]Elliott[/name] [name]Orion[/name] - I think it will be often misspelled, but I wouldn’t care. It is trending for girls, and many will tell you it makes them think of [name]Eliot[/name] [name]Reid[/name] from Scrubs, but it is also trending for boys and it makes some think of [name]Eliot[/name] from [name]Law[/name] & Order SVU. Also going to add, [name]Orion[/name] is amazing. It’s one of my top mns too.
[name]Leo[/name] [name]Finegan[/name] - I don’t think it’s too popular, but it is becoming more so. I still think it’s an awesome name, though, so I wouldn’t care.

[name]Bay[/name] [name]Declan[/name] - I think [name]Bay[/name] is very feminine. It has and always will evoke a girly image to me. [name]Bay[/name] [name]Barrett[/name] especially sounds girly. [name]Declan[/name] is awesome though. What about [name]Declan[/name] [name]Bay[/name] [name]Barrett[/name]? That I really like.
[name]Gray[/name] [name]Callum[/name] - [name]Gray[/name] is a handsome boys name! I absolutely love this. [name]Gray[/name] [name]Callum[/name] [name]Barrett[/name] is so strong and handsome.
[name]Asa[/name] [name]Finlay[/name] - Not only is it too trendy but I hate both names. [name]Asa[/name] sounds really girly to me with all the rage [name]Ava[/name]'s, [name]Ada[/name]'s and [name]Eva[/name]'s is sounds super girly. [name]Finlay[/name] is really trendy and sounds like its trying too hard [name]IMO[/name].
[name]Elliott[/name] [name]Orion[/name] - I don’t think [name]Elliot[/name] will ever be misspelled. I think for now it’s still mainly male but perhaps the trend will grow and [name]Elliot[/name] will be more of a girl name. I personally wouldn’t chance it. [name]Elliot[/name] [name]Barrett[/name] is a lot of ett sound too. [name]Orion[/name] [name]Barrett[/name] is much more manly, handsome, unexpected and has way better flow! I think I would do [name]Orion[/name] [name]Gray[/name] [name]Barrett[/name].
[name]Leo[/name] [name]Finegan[/name] - [name]Leo[/name] used to be a top favourite of mine but then I found [name]Leon[/name]. [name]Do[/name] you like it? [name]Leon[/name] [name]Finlay[/name] [name]Barrett[/name] is the better alternative [name]IMO[/name].

I love [name]Declan[/name] [name]Bay[/name], [name]Gray[/name] [name]Callum[/name] and [name]Orion[/name] [name]Gray[/name]!
