Ok baby number two is coming in a few weeks! I have a girl already and I CANNOT, for the life of me, make a commitment to a name for the new baby! She’s a girl and I can’t decide. I’ve read all the lists…multiple times, I have had people give me suggestions but I just can’t fall in love with a name.
Our current name is Ayvah (like [name_f]Ava[/name_f] but I don’t love the original spelling…I always think ah-vah when I see it). Anyway, my husband loves it and my daughter has heard it enough that that’s what she calls her baby sister lately. To me when we say it out loud sometimes the “vah” is so strongly pronounced that it just sounds funny, but other times it’s fine! I have difficulty making decisions anyway but it was no where near this difficult the first time! I am also worried about how popular “[name_f]Ava[/name_f]” is and that she might be one of five in her class when she gets to school.
last name begins with Mc so unsure about the Mak names.
ugh help please! I usually hate when people suggest names because I’m like aaah I’ve already been through all of these names. I just can’t decide so…opinions on Ayvah/ Ayva/ Ava are welcomed too but BE NICE!
To be honest the only ‘decent’ name that I could consider using from the names that you’ve suggested (with those spellings) is [name_f]Sofia[/name_f].
I hate ‘unique’ spellings, they are not unique in fact they are just awful. [name_f]Ava[/name_f] is a delightful name, there isn’t anything wrong with spelling of [name_f]Ava[/name_f], she’s just a stable fashionable name. If you use this ridiculous Ayvah all your going to do is cause trouble for your daughter later on. As she will have a popular name but unlike her peers that share her name she’ll have this crazy spelling which will cause to her spend her days spelling this out. It’s just a pain.
I hate Mc and [name_u]Kay[/name_u] names which for me rules out [name_f]Makayla[/name_f] and [name_u]Makenzie[/name_u] furthermore your last name starts with Mc which creates this repeated sound, this is just unattractive when you say the name together.
[name_f]Sofia[/name_f] is fine. This spelling is legit and even though I prefer [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], I can understand why people would like [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] it has the association with Bulgarian capital which makes [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] a interesting twist on place names. She feels quirky and looks good.
Concerning [name_f]Alyvia[/name_f] I’m totally unsure on this name.
Yeah if I was you guys I would go with [name_f]Sofia[/name_f]!!!
I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_f]Sofia[/name_f]. I also [name_f]ADORE[/name_f] [name_f]Alyvia[/name_f], but I think [name_f]Alivia[/name_f] is classier.
[name_u]Makenzie[/name_u] and [name_f]Makayla[/name_f] are awesome, but I’d stay away from them if you have a Mc starting last name.
Ayvah looks like a misspelling of [name_f]Ava[/name_f]. Go with [name_f]Ava[/name_f] if you care about your future child.
I love [name_f]Sofia[/name_f]/[name_f]Sophia[/name_f] and [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]/[name_f]Alivia[/name_f]. I think the mack names would not work with your username, it may become a tongue twister. Some suggestions [name_f]Alia[/name_f], [name_f]Ayla[/name_f], [name_f]Bria[/name_f], [name_f]Isla[/name_f], [name_f]Mia[/name_f], [name_f]Noa[/name_f], [name_f]Suri[/name_f], [name_f]Willa[/name_f], [name_u]Arden[/name_u], [name_u]Auden[/name_u], [name_u]Oakley[/name_u], [name_f]Lila[/name_f], [name_f]Lilia[/name_f].
[name_f]Ava[/name_f] and [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] are my favorites. I have an [name_f]Ava[/name_f] and I would use [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] on my own child.
I will point out that if you like [name_f]Ava[/name_f] that much, go with the original spelling. The alternative spellings just look illiterate, but more to the point the more you say and write [name_f]Ava[/name_f] that feeling of “[name_m]Ah[/name_m]-vah” will go away. She’d be constantly correcting people.
[name_f]Sofia[/name_f] is my other favorite. I love the names I’ve picked but [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] was definitely one I just LOVED but my cousin has [name_f]Zofia[/name_f] (the polish version, a nod to her heritage) picked out for such a long time so it was off limits. I love the [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] spelling, but I love [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] even more (the nickname) and I think it would be weird to spell the nickname as [name_f]Sofi[/name_f]/[name_f]Sofie[/name_f]…you know? For that reason I would have issues with which spelling.
I agree! Your spelling of [name_f]Ava[/name_f] is really problematic. I couldn’t even figure out what it was as first. The only gorgeous name on your list is [name_f]Sofia[/name_f].
Definitely avoid mak/mac/mc names if you have a mc last name. You don’t want her to sound like a clown.
As for the others, [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] is the only legitimate spelling, but I’d pronounce it differently from the more common [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]. [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] is generally pronounced as soh-[name_u]FEE[/name_u]-uh, whereas the two [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] spellers I know personally, as well as the city in Bulgaria, say SOH-fee-uh.
My number one suggestion for you would be [name_f]Ayla[/name_f]. Similar to [name_f]Ava[/name_f], in a spelling more your style, and also less popular than [name_f]Ava[/name_f]. Ayvah, to me, is horrendous (sorry, you did ask for honest opinions!) but [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] is pretty.
Also consider the name [name_f]Maeva[/name_f] (rhymes with [name_f]Ava[/name_f]/Ayvah); pretty and a little more of a standout.
Funny we were thinking of going with [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] thank you for not being rude about our spelling of [name_f]Ava[/name_f] (Ayvah) However we have decided we probably won’t spell it that way…
What about Ayva? Not much better? I like the name but it’s so short it’s taking some getting used to.
[name_f]Makayla[/name_f] and [name_u]Makenzie[/name_u] are definitely not my cup of tea. They are pretty high on the charts and pretty popular in my town, so I personally wouldn’t use them.
I have to agree with everyone above. My favorite is [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] (which has been on my favorite name list for a while) Who knows? Your daughter might really love [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] the First!
I prefer [name_f]Ava[/name_f] over any other spellings…
I don’t like the spelling “Ayvah”. It looks confusing. I know a few [name_f]Ava[/name_f]'s and they are all pronounced “Ay-vah”, so if it is the pronunciation you are worried about with using the spelling “[name_f]Ava[/name_f]”, I wouldn’t worry about it. Also, [name_f]Ava[/name_f] is fairly popular, but beautiful!
My favorite from your list is [name_f]Sofia[/name_f].
I also like alliterative names, so I think [name_f]Makayla[/name_f] Mc____ and [name_u]Makenzie[/name_u] Mc_____ would sound really cool! I prefer [name_u]Makenzie[/name_u] over [name_f]Makayla[/name_f] though.
Haha my first daughter loves [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] the First that’s where we got [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] from but we like [name_f]Ava[/name_f] better and the original spelling is growing in me thanks!
