Our boys’ names are all fairly rare, without being strange. They are ranked around 230, 540, and 740 on the social security list. [name]Ellie[/name] is 137. What do you think? [name]Ellie[/name] may rank in the 100s, but considering that [name]Ella[/name] is #19 and [name]Elizabeth[/name] is #9, and the fact that many Ellas and Elizabeths are nicknamed “[name]Ellie[/name],” well, that’s a whole lot of Ellies!
I personally would keep [name]Ellie[/name] as a nickname for [name]Ella[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Eliza[/name], or [name]Eleanor[/name], because [name]Ellie[/name] on its own feels too insubstantial to me, and won’t age well.
