So we have narrowed down our list to two names and my husband really seems stuck on Elowen, but I am not thrilled with our middle name combo. My husband doesn’t think middle names are all that important since it isn’t said much, but I want it to sound nice. So in an attempt to compromise with my husband and name our daughter Elowen, I need all of you to help me with a middle name that is just wonderful.
Our two sons have names coming from family members, so my trouble lies in the fact that most of our family names don’t seem to go well with Elowen and then combined with our last name.
Originally we wanted to use [name]Louise[/name], but Elowen [name]Louise[/name] L___ (one-syllable) is too “L” heavy.
Here are some family names that I know someone will be more creative with than I!
[name]Louise[/name] (mother’s middle name)
Caress (Grandmother’s maiden name)
[name]Martha[/name]
[name]Marie[/name] (but a little plain, imo, and has already been used as a mn for my niece)
[name]Verna[/name]
[name]Jamieson[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name]
[name]Aimee[/name]
[name]Beth[/name]
So please help and please feel free to make variations on these names to make something work. As they are, I can’t seem to find something that works!
You don’t think Elowen [name]Beth[/name] is too plain sounding? I don’t know, I feel like it isn’t beautiful…or something. Especially with a one-syllable last name?
I guess I picture it having a flow of 3-2-1 syllable wise.
I don’t hate Elowen [name]Martha[/name]…I will ponder that one for a while!
It is funny that you mention Elowen [name]Verona[/name], because I was thinking about this last night as I was falling asleep. I really like it…I will have to mention it to my hubby.
I like it because it is a variation of [name]Verna[/name], but has the extra syllable which I think flows better!
Thank you for your suggestions!
Elowen [name]Carys[/name] is definitely my favourite option option for you!
Elowen [name]Vera[/name]
Elowen [name]Amelia[/name]
Elowen [name]Elizabeth[/name]
Elowen [name]Bethany[/name]
Elowen [name]Lucia[/name]
Elowen [name]Martha[/name] (this is fine as it is, and I think it’s beautiful)
We were originally going to use Elowen [name]Carys[/name] as we both really liked it, but we got many opinions on here saying that it is very heavily Welsh (which it is), and since we aren’t Welsh (my husband’s roots are English, but not Welsh), I got swayed away from it.
