My husband and I are expecting our first child in [name]December[/name] and are stuck on a girl’s name. We both love the name [name]Adelyn[/name] but are worried it may sound too trendy (too similar to [name]Madelyn[/name]/[name]Addison[/name]/[name]Madison[/name]).
We’re also considering these names:
[name]Claire[/name]
[name]Hannah[/name]
[name]Juliet[/name]
[name]Natalie[/name]
[name]Jillian[/name]
What are your thoughts? Is [name]Adelyn[/name] too trendy? What do you think of the other names? Our last name starts with a P and is 3 syllables.
I think that [name]Adelyn[/name] does sound too trendy. Have you considered spelling it [name]Adeline[/name]? It looks much more classic. [name]Aveline[/name] and [name]Emmeline[/name] are also nice.
[name]Claire[/name] -Can’t go wrong. Classic and pretty, but popular.
[name]Hannah[/name] -I really like this name, but it’s so common.
[name]Juliet[/name] -My favorite! Fairly unique and goregous.
[name]Natalie[/name] -Really nice, but I wish it weren’t so popular.
[name]Jillian[/name] -[name]Don[/name]'t love it.
If you go with [name]Adeline[/name] then you can pronounce it with a lyn sound or a line sound and it looks a little more classic spelt this way. I say use it.
[name]Juliet[/name] is the other name on your list that I really love.
[name]Adeline[/name] [name]Juliet[/name]
[name]Juliet[/name] [name]Adeline[/name], this flows better I think.
[name]Love[/name] Justthinkin’s idea of [name]Adeline[/name]. I would pronounce it [name]ADD[/name]-eh-line.
Also love
[name]Claire[/name] - love it as a first or a middle.
[name]Juliet[/name]
[name]Jillian[/name]
My fave on your list is [name]Claire[/name]. It always speaks to me.
I also love [name]Adelyn[/name]. I even like it spelled [name]Adelin[/name] which is my husband [name]Daniel[/name]'s name scrambled. He of course doesn’t like it. As far as being trendy, it is similar to [name]Addison[/name]/[name]Maddison[/name]/[name]Madelyn[/name]. I wish I could say that I loved [name]Adeline[/name] but I don’t. It’s the -ine ending that just changes the whole name for me. Of course if you were going to nn her [name]Addie[/name] anyway this definitely would be a great way to get it with out taking a dip in the trendy pool. I’m just one of those people who is torn between loving a name no matter how popular or switching to something less common.
Of the other names you listed I’m equally in love with [name]Natalie[/name] and [name]Claire[/name] with [name]Juliet[/name] right behind.
I agree that [name]Adelyn[/name] does sound trendy, but I think the [name]Adeline[/name] suggestion is great! To me, aside from [name]Evelyn[/name], the -lyn names remind me of Bralyn, [name]Jaylyn[/name], Kaeyln, etc., but that’s just me.
Have you considered [name]Adelaide[/name], [name]Adele[/name], or [name]Adelia[/name]?
[name]Claire[/name]: I think [name]Claire[/name] is very pretty, and love [name]Clara[/name], too.
[name]Hannah[/name]: [name]Hannah[/name] is too popular for me (and then there’s [name]Hannah[/name] [name]Montana[/name]), but I do think it’s pretty.
[name]Juliet[/name]: [name]LOVE[/name]! I think that [name]Juliet[/name] [name]Claire[/name] is lovely.
[name]Natalie[/name]: I think it’s pretty, but I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Juliet[/name]!
[name]Jillian[/name]: As a [name]Jill[/name] who doesn’t like her name, I prefer the other names from you list. I do love the [name]Jillie[/name] nickname, though.
