We don’t know the sex of our baby yet but we are strongly considering Hosanna [name]True[/name] for a girl. We love the meaning of it (yes we are Christians). We have 4 other children and the theme we have going on is non common (but not completely out there) first names with noun-ish/word middle names. We also love for them to have good meaning. Please tell me your opinions on Hosanna [name]True[/name]. Her siblings are [name]Josiah[/name] [name]Ryder[/name], [name]Eden[/name] [name]Summer[/name], [name]Lincoln[/name] [name]Stone[/name] and Lowen Chord. Thank you!
Congrats on your pregnancy! I am not a fan of Hosanna, personally, but I think [name]True[/name] is a nice middle name. Other uplifting or virtue-type names you might consider… Merit, [name]Serenity[/name], [name]Grace[/name].
Hosanna is nice in theory but the prominent “Ho” at the beginning makes it an easy mark for teasing.
Agree. What about [name]Merry[/name] or [name]Gloria[/name]/ [name]Glory[/name] or [name]Hollie[/name] [name]Lou[/name] (ok, that one might be stretching it a bit). I love your creativity!
Make it [name]Susannah[/name] [name]True[/name] and I’m all for it. [name]Susannah[/name] is biblical and means lily in Hebrew.
Hosanna is definitely less than appealing.
Two thoughts: firstly, I would use only one “nonstandard” name per combo, in keeping with your other children’s names. Hosanna + [name]True[/name] is a little too out there, especially in the context of your family.
Secondly, I agree with the others on the unfortunate first syllable. [name]Even[/name] if you plan on homeschooling, she will still come into contact with her peers and the Ho association [name]WILL[/name] come up.
What about [name]Jubilee[/name] (the biblical association is the [name]Jubilee[/name] Year, where every 50 years all debts were supposed to be forgiven-- obvious correlations to [name]Christian[/name] theology re: salvation), which has a nice girlish sound and is still rather outside the box? Conversely, [name]Galilee[/name] (as in [name]Jesus[/name]’ home province).
Again, I would pair with a more standard middle. In keeping with the relaxed, unpretentious vibe, something like:
[name]Galilee[/name] [name]June[/name]
[name]Galilee[/name] [name]Hope[/name]
[name]Galilee[/name] [name]Dove[/name]
[name]Jubilee[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Jubilee[/name] [name]Grace[/name]
[name]Jubilee[/name] [name]Dawn[/name]
I like true but not Hosanna.
It’s not just Ho, it’s the Hose part that bugs me more.
I like both Hosanna and [name]True[/name] but like a pp suggested together they might be a little too unusual combined.
There are so great underused biblical names with great meanings…
[name]Jubilee[/name] [name]True[/name] (as previously suggested)
[name]Dalia[/name] [name]True[/name]
[name]Elke[/name] [name]True[/name]
Lior [name]True[/name]
[name]Nissa[/name] [name]True[/name] (this is actually kinda cute because it would mean [name]True[/name] sign or Sign of [name]Truth[/name]).
Shoshanna/[name]Susanna[/name] [name]True[/name]
I agree with the pp suggestion about bullying potential of Hosanna. She might prefer to go by [name]Anna[/name], when she get’s older. But then again, she might love it. However, I do like [name]True[/name], something totally different then the normal suggestions of [name]Grace[/name], [name]Faith[/name], [name]Joy[/name], etc.
[name]Johanna[/name] [name]True[/name]?
I think Hosanna has a really pretty sound. The beginning “ho” sound does kind of bug me though. I like the middle name [name]True[/name]. I also love the suggestion of [name]Galilee[/name].
Instead of Hosanna [name]True[/name], I suggest [name]Gloria[/name] [name]True[/name]. My cousin [name]Stephen[/name]'s wife’s is named [name]Gloria[/name]. I always love seeing or hearing her name.
