Help…I’m due in 3 weeks and we don’t have names yet! Our daughter is [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] and we need names to go with that for a boy or a girl, we don’t know the sex.
So far we like, but haven’t decided on, the following:
[name_m]Weston[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] ([name_m]Wes[/name_m])
[name_u]Harper[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] (I wish [name_u]Harper[/name_u] wasn’t so common or else we would just go with it!)
[name_u]Blake[/name_u] (for a girl, no middle name yet)
[name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] (people seem to not like that one when we tell them)
[name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u]
Opinions on those and any other suggestions are welcome. Middle names listed are family names.
Thanks!!!
[name_u]Blake[/name_u] is NOT a girls name. [name_f]Do[/name_f] NOT use it as a girls name…
I like [name_m]Weston[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. But I would use [name_m]Wesley[/name_m].
I dont really like the sound of [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. What about [name_u]Finley[/name_u] [name_m]Hank[/name_m]? ([name_m]Hank[/name_m] being a nickname for [name_m]Henry[/name_m])
I dont like [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u]. [name_m]Both[/name_m] names put me off.
[name_u]Harper[/name_u] is cute. But its turning unisex.
[name_m]Weston[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] works, but if I just heard the names [name_m]Weston[/name_m] and [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] in a sibling set, I would assume they were both boys. Not sure if that matters to you.
[name_u]Harper[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] has been killed and killed again. It does work with a sister named [name_u]Emerson[/name_u], though, so I guess it depends on how much you like it.
[name_u]Blake[/name_u] works with [name_u]Emerson[/name_u]. This is the best option for a girl, I think. Any other family names you want to use? Because [name_f]Grace[/name_f] doesn’t really work with [name_u]Blake[/name_u]. If I knew [name_u]Emerson[/name_u]'s middle name, I could match the style.
[name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] has too many repeated sounds. [name_u]Finn[/name_u] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] work better separately.
[name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] works, too, but I get the opposite feeling from this as [name_m]Weston[/name_m] and [name_u]Emerson[/name_u]. If I heard [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] and [name_u]Emerson[/name_u], I would assume they’re both girls.
Also, your child probably won’t hate you just because you name her [name_u]Blake[/name_u]. And no one’s going to take away your kid just because you give her a traditionally male name. I’m not fond of the trend, but it’s kind of rude to say “[name_f]Do[/name_f] NOT” do it.
[name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] works just fine for a boy. I think as male names for girls become more common, people will learn not to assume a child’s gender from hearing their name.
[name_m]Weston[/name_m] is a good name too.
[name_u]Blake[/name_u] would complement [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] well. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you know what kind of middle names you like? Any other family names you have in mind?
I like [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] and [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u]!!!
[name_u]Harper[/name_u] is a perfect sister for [name_u]Emerson[/name_u], but I might switch up the middle a little bit. [name_u]Harper[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is [name_u]Neil[/name_u] [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] [name_m]Harris[/name_m]’ daughter and I’m sure it’s a fairly common combination. What about:
[name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] is delightful. I’ve often considered [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]Finn[/name_u].
For girls- [name_u]Harper[/name_u] goes so nicely with [name_u]Emerson[/name_u]. If you’re afraid of the popularity, maybe [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] or [name_u]Piper[/name_u]?
