We’re expecting our second daughter in [name_u]June[/name_u] & need help with names (first & middle). Our first daughter is named [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] [name_u]Randi[/name_u]. Our last name begins with M.
We chose the name [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] because we both like unisex names & we both liked the slightly bad ass meaning of “warrior.” We’d like little sister’s name to follow suit.
I’m Jewish, so we named [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] after my grandmother with the initials SR (my husband’s name is [name_u]Randy[/name_u], so that’s how we chose her middle). I’d like to follow this tradition with the initials BA (my husband’s grandmother), but he’s not Jewish & doesn’t seem to care at all. So it’s not a requirement at all, but I still think it would be nice for both girls to be named after our maternal grandmothers.
My first choice was [name_u]Blaire[/name_u], but my husband has a very strong Rhode Island accent and I can’t have our daughter going through life called “Blaaaih”
My second choice name is [name_u]Blake[/name_u] [name_u]Ainsley[/name_u].
Other names we actually agree on:
[name_u]Kendall[/name_u]
[name_u]Reese[/name_u]
[name_u]Ainsley[/name_u]
[name_u]Riley[/name_u]
[name_u]Blake[/name_u]
[name_u]Sydney[/name_u]
[name_u]Logan[/name_u]
[name_u]Cameron[/name_u] (will definitely not be naming her [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] because [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] & [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] are the girlfriend/friend from [name_m]Ferris[/name_m] [name_m]Bueller[/name_m]'s [name_u]Day[/name_u] Off, but we do like the name - just to give you an idea of the style we like)
I was so in love with the name [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] & I just don’t get that feeling from any name yet - so I’m open to any & all suggestions! Thank you!
I love [name_u]Reese[/name_u] as a nn for [name_f]Therese[/name_f]/[name_f]Theresa[/name_f], and I think [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] and [name_f]Theresa[/name_f] sound very nice together. It gives a more formal sound like [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] has, but has the potential for a more unisex nickname.
With [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] I also like:
[name_u]Darcy[/name_u] (might not work with your husband’s accent, similar to [name_u]Blaire[/name_u])
[name_u]Avery[/name_u]
[name_u]Morgan[/name_u]
[name_u]Sheridan[/name_u] (an Irish surname meaning “wild”)
My first thought was [name_u]Barrett[/name_u], “bear strength.” I think that would be super cute with [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] and it’s a B name.
I also like [name_f]Briar[/name_f], [name_f]Brigid[/name_f]/[name_f]Bridget[/name_f], [name_f]Buffy[/name_f] or [name_u]Bobby[/name_u] for a girl, sister to [name_u]Sloane[/name_u].
I love [name_u]Logan[/name_u] on a girl, and i think [name_u]Logan[/name_u] and [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] are adorable together. I also like [name_u]Blair[/name_u] a lot.
[name_u]Bryce[/name_u]
[name_u]Rhys[/name_u] (enthusiasm for life)
[name_u]Ashton[/name_u]
[name_m]Adrian[/name_m]
[name_u]Hayden[/name_u]
[name_u]Hollis[/name_u]
[name_m]Chance[/name_m]
[name_u]Channing[/name_u] (resembling a young wolf)
[name_u]Chandler[/name_u]
[name_u]Vesper[/name_u]
[name_u]Aidan[/name_u] (fire)
[name_f]Briar[/name_f] (thorny)
[name_u]Dallas[/name_u]
[name_m]Daley[/name_m]
[name_u]Emmett[/name_u]
[name_u]Everett[/name_u] (strength of a boar)
[name_u]Leland[/name_u]
[name_u]Orion[/name_u]
[name_u]Paxton[/name_u] (peaceful town and pax is a cool nn)
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] (could still nn her pax)
[name_u]Quincy[/name_u]
[name_m]Ryker[/name_m] (rich)
[name_m]Ryland[/name_m]
[name_u]Sheridan[/name_u] (searcher)
[name_u]Sterling[/name_u] (priceless)
I like [name_u]Blair[/name_u] and [name_u]Reese[/name_u].
Other ideas:
[name_f]Bea[/name_f]
[name_u]Bell[/name_u]
[name_f]Blythe[/name_f] (happy–this is my favorite, sounds modern with [name_u]Sloane[/name_u])
[name_f]Branwen[/name_f] (raven)
[name_u]Brighton[/name_u]
[name_u]Britt[/name_u]
[name_f]Bronte[/name_f] (thunder)
[name_u]Bryn[/name_u]
[name_f]Bryony[/name_f]
[name_u]Quinn[/name_u] (wisdom)
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]Sloane[/name_u]. And I’ve always thought the name [name_u]Bret[/name_u] would be awesome on a girl. [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] and [name_u]Bret[/name_u]/[name_u]Brett[/name_u] [name_u]Ainsley[/name_u] would be fantastic.
