Need some opinions

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all, I need some opinions for baby #2 name.

We had already picked out his name - [name_u]Owen[/name_u] [name_m]William[/name_m]. However, for some reasons we aren’t going to be able to use [name_u]Owen[/name_u] as a first name. But since we really like the name, we want to at least keep it as a middle name. The only other name I really loved as a first name is [name_m]Leo[/name_m]. However, [name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_u]Owen[/name_u]? not sure if it’s too short.

[name_f]My[/name_f] first son’s name is [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Luke[/name_m] (Alex), so not sure if [name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_u]Owen[/name_u] is too short next to his. [name_u]Or[/name_u] do you think it works?

The only other name that I like and that would give me [name_m]Leo[/name_m] is [name_m]Leonardo[/name_m]. So, [name_m]Leonardo[/name_m] [name_u]Owen[/name_u] nn. [name_m]Leo[/name_m].

What are your opinions?

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you care about the flow?

[name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_u]Owen[/name_u] is ok, but the O sounds really run together. Same for [name_m]Leonardo[/name_m]. There are other ways to get to [name_m]Leo[/name_m] though I’m sure!

not that much

Then [name_m]Leonardo[/name_m] [name_u]Owen[/name_u] is a nice combo.

I think [name_u]Rowen[/name_u] would flow better & is only 1 sound off.

[name_m]Leonardo[/name_m] also keeps the four-syllables of [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]!

I think [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and [name_u]Owen[/name_u] are great names on their own but not quite right together because of that blending O sound but if flow isn’t a huge issue to you then I say go for it.

I’m not sure if you are willing to let go of [name_u]Owen[/name_u] but if you are then I’ll suggest [name_u]Nolan[/name_u], [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], [name_u]Noah[/name_u], [name_u]Logan[/name_u], and maybe even [name_u]Wyatt[/name_u] as comparable sound alike options.

If you want a longer form of [name_m]Leo[/name_m] then how about [name_u]Lionel[/name_u], [name_m]Leonard[/name_m], [name_m]Leon[/name_m], [name_m]Leonidas[/name_m], or even [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]? [name_u]Or[/name_u] what about [name_u]Lee[/name_u] [name_u]Owen[/name_u] or [name_u]Liam[/name_u] [name_u]Owen[/name_u] to get to [name_m]Leo[/name_m]? I don’t think [name_m]Leo[/name_m] is too short with brother Alexander/Alex. They sound like brothers to me.

The flow may not be perfection but really, how often do we say our first and middle names together? Seldom. If [name_m]Leo[/name_m] sounds nice with your last name I think you should use it as sounds like the one you like. I wouldn’t toss your favourite name just because the flow isn’t perfect. If it really bothers you I like the suggestion of adding R to [name_u]Owen[/name_u] for [name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_u]Rowen[/name_u]. [name_m]Leo[/name_m] works well as a brother name to Alex/Alexander.

Yes, we did consider flipping them around, but about 3 of my friends have babies named [name_u]Liam[/name_u] and although [name_m]William[/name_m] can go as [name_m]Will[/name_m], just wanna do something different as a first name.

Thank you for your suggestion. To be honest the flow doesn’t bother me at all. And, I have been saying the name a whole bunch of times now that it sounds really good to me lol. [name_f]My[/name_f] main concern was either going for [name_m]Leonardo[/name_m] nn [name_m]Leo[/name_m] or just [name_m]Leo[/name_m]. :relaxed: [name_u]Love[/name_u] just [name_m]Leo[/name_m], but really like how [name_m]Leonardo[/name_m] looks in writing.

My thoughts are that it is sleeker, smoother, easier, to use the name that you plan to use on a day-to-day basis so I would go straight to Leo. Using Leonardo as his given name would be okay if you really like it but it would be inconvenient when registering/paged on the intercom at schools, doctors offices, etc. as in “Yes, but I go by Leo”.

If you love [name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_u]Owen[/name_u], go for it!
I personally like the sound of [name_u]Owen[/name_u] [name_m]Leo[/name_m] a bit better.
They’re both great names.

[name_m]Leonardo[/name_m] [name_u]Owen[/name_u] is fabulous! [name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_u]Owen[/name_u] is nice too

I really like your style!
I would say stick with [name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_u]Owen[/name_u] ! It’s what you love and it sounds great to my ear. There’s something special about that short and sweet name!

[name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Luke[/name_m] is strong and handsome and timeless and I think [name_u]Alex[/name_u] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m] work so well together,

How about 2 middles - [name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_u]Owen[/name_u]?
[name_u]Or[/name_u] [name_m]Leon[/name_m] [name_u]Owen[/name_u].
[name_u]Or[/name_u] [name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] as another pp suggested.
[name_u]Or[/name_u] [name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m].

I second [name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_u]Owen[/name_u].

Also disagree slightly with a previous poster about the inconvenience of having a nn. [name_f]My[/name_f] full name and my nn- which is derived from full name but looks very different!- have never caused me any bother. In fact I like having multiple options and that some situations I can use the more formal and other people, closer and more special to me, get to call me the nn. I will admit to identifying as slightly different personas depending on the name/company as well :kissing_heart: one more goofy than the other!

[name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_u]Owen[/name_u] does seem a bit short compared to [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Luke[/name_m], but [name_m]Leo[/name_m] feels just as strong as [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], and you call him [name_u]Alex[/name_u], anyhow! Since flow is not too much of a concern for you, I’d definitely say that either [name_m]Leo[/name_m] or [name_m]Leonardo[/name_m] “Leo” would work perfectly. xx
