I was thinking a while back that I am obsessed with names, and i tell my friends what I think of their name choices in a good way. and i was wondering do you think i could have a naming business? is that too outlandish?
Haha, I’ve occasionally wondered if there’s a career in baby name consulting too!
I work as a freelance writer so I suppose it’s only a little jump from copywriting/editing services but haven’t pursued it…I just give everyone free consults whether they want them or not! I do know a woman who founded a “baby planner” business! She helps, kind of like a wedding planner, make decisions about birth, put together registries, set up nursery, and I believe she’s had name input for some clients, just the whole package. She’s been quite successful.
Would love to see one of the nameberry founders chime in and tell you how they got started/if there’s a market out there for this!
I have named 3 babies so far lol
If you do make a company, hire me! Haha. I think I had something to do with my cousins choosing [name]Lucas[/name] over [name]Lukas[/name] for one of their sons. They wanted [name]Lukas[/name] for the nn [name]Luke[/name] but I knew back in middle school that alternative spellings tend to cause issues. Plus I knew tons of [name]Lukes[/name] that were Lucases. But anyways, I think I’d have an awesome career in some sort of naming business. I keep thinking there has GOT to be a job out there where I can sit and look up baby names all day but it’s probably rare and difficult to get :-/
