We are expecting #2. I need some inspiration for names, especially boy names. We’ve got a pretty good list of girl names going, but open to ideas there, too.
Our oldest is named [name_m]Aksel[/name_m]. So, I am looking for a potential bother name that…
Firm Requirements:
- Does not start with A or have a K in it (too similar to son’s name)
- Is pronounced exactly the way it is spelled, and does not have multiple correct pronunciations
- Isn’t too “out there.” Our son’s name is pretty unique, and I love it, but don’t want to be the folks with “weird” names. I know this is a pretty subjective requirement.
- Is spelled in an historically established way. It can be a less common or old fashioned spelling, but not a creative spelling just for the fun of it
- Is not extremely common ([name_m]Christopher[/name_m], [name_m]John[/name_m], etc)
Flexible Preferences:
- Scandinavian or Irish
- Does not start with D or E
- Does not start or end with S (our last name starts with S)
- “Vintage” or old fashioned name
Names I like that fit the bill and would also appreciate feedback on:
- [name_u]Corbin[/name_u] (This is my top choice, my husband is “meh” on it. If you think this is a good one, let me know so I can sway him with public opinion.)
- [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m]
- [name_m]Peter[/name_m]
- [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] (family name but not my favorite)
- [name_m]Holden[/name_m] (GREAT family name, but not so sure about the connection to [name_m]Holden[/name_m] Caufield, who I find terribly obnoxious)
- [name_m]Soren[/name_m] (the only “S” name that I’d go with so far)
Names I love but can’t use because they are already used by family/friends:
[name_u]Carter[/name_u]
[name_u]Quinn[/name_u]
[name_m]Cole[/name_m]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m]
[name_m]Zane[/name_m]
[name_u]Dane[/name_u]
To give you an idea of names we like, these are some possible first or middle names for a girl:
- [name_f]Cora[/name_f]
- [name_f]Aimee[/name_f]
- [name_f]Diane[/name_f]
- [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
- [name_f]Mila[/name_f]
- [name_f]Carole[/name_f]
I know, I know. I appreciate the complexity of this request. You can see why my husband and I quickly become exhausted with this conversation. Please don’t yell at me for being difficult. Any help is appreciated.
